Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground - Week 75

Told you I'd still be watching the Playground :)

In fairness this is scheduled as am unsure if I'll get much chance to check the internet whilst away partying though. My snippets card for the week took flipping AGES to make - at a time when things were already very busy. It's for the outgoing Chairman/lady of our School Association from all 600+ members, I was asked to make it by the Committee and just didn't want to let them down:

I used.........masses of snippets:

- A5 white oval aperture card, from Hobbycraft

- the background in the aperture is self-adhesive film and really  sparkly silver

- I printed the sentiment with our old school badge onto white card and die cut it using Nesties 'Floral Oval'

- the card was edged with Spellbinders die cut corners and straight strips - made from a snippet of blue and silver card

- the flowers took forever, I used a new die set by All Occasion dies called 'Petite Petals'. Each layer is made up of three segments of petals to make a full circle which means that a lot of flowers have nine pieces to them - sigh, not such a good idea for speed

- the blue and silver snippet was also used to punch leaves using Martha Stewart's 'Leaf Frond' punch

- a liberal scattering of pearl and sparkly gems, on and between some of the flowers

The very best part of the marathon was right at the end when I gently lifted up the smaller layers of petals on each flower and suddenly the card seemed to come to life.

Of course it then needed a box to protect it:
The ribbon is attached to the box lid only before assembling it so it's a permanent fixture, the butterflies were die cut using a Joy! Crafts Vintage Flourishes die 6003/0023 (which cuts and releases like an absolute dream) and the letters are by Britannia Dies 'Upper Case Alphabet' - sold by Joanna Sheen.

By the way, blues, white and silver were the predominant colours in our school uniform - just in case you were wondering.

This post is scheduled of course so there's no 'show and tell' for now and the prizes haven't been drawn - I'll do that when I get back home.

But the prize for this coming week is:
A set of 'Sprinkled Expressions' wood mounted stamps by Stampin' Up. The little tale to this is that we just got online SU ordering here in the UK and Victoria (one of our playmates) offered a lovely giveaway for the first person to order - part of which was this stamp set which I already have and love. Needless to say I hopped straight in (IN my PJs!), ordered and won us a prize for the Playground, yay! Thank you Victoria - you get extra goes on the swings for that.

If any of you are wondering about buying from SU, my advice is to go ahead - the online ordering is easy (almost too easy, sigh) and if you follow this link it will take you to Victoria's blog post - from whence you can go online to order. She'll blush, but I find her really helpful and of course if you have any issues or queries then she would still be your demonstrator to go to.

1. The Playground will run as normal this week with the gates closing at noon UK time on Saturday 8th June.
2. I hope to do last week's draw(s) on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week at the latest.
3. And remember that this coming week, if you enter three snippets makes there is a second chance to win  a 'Water Droplets' stamp. Just say in a comment when you link a third make during this coming week that you're trying for the 'Droplets' and you'll be included in a separate 'sunhat draw' for one of these:
Maximum of three entries as always and please say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be a winner of this weeks main prize, the SU 'Sprinkled Expressions' stamp set. Of course you can enter for both :)

This is so pretty. Labor intensive too, with all your little flowers & petals sprinkled around that silvery oval. Really like the floral ovals in that silver. Hope you're having fun, and I better get my act going for 3 snippets, Huh? TFS & hugs

Your card is beautiful! I'm sure Lois will love and appreciate all the work that went into this beauty!

About the playground. If the sheep got into the garden, Mrs. A and I did everything we could to keep them out. Ok, except for that one time when I may have let the gate open. We did finally get them back in their pen...

Have a most wonderful time and we'll see you on the playground when you get back.

Oh my goodness...this is gorgeous! What a fabulous use of snippets...and so gorgeous too! Love the way the flowers have a life of their own...the way you have sort of 3d preened them really sets them off. I'm just finishing off a snippets post and will be back to go for a swing or slide later tonight.

Hi Di, that's some snippet make - it's a real wow of a card and I bet the outgoing chairperson was absolutely delighted with both it and the matching box. Definitely something to cherish. I'm keeping count and I've just uploaded my second card this week, so on course to reach three :) Will be back later to see what else you've been up to recently. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

Bonnie said...

LOL, we're going to drive you crazy, Di! Again, no thanks for the SU stamps, but yes, yes, yes to those lovely drops!

MaryH said...

Oh, Oh, I made 3 cards! Gotta be a first for me (I think). Would be lovely to win, but even if not, it's still been fun. And such gorgeous cards to enjoy. THat's a big treat all by itself. I'm gonna make a big effort to get round & comment on the entries I've missed...Don't seem to be able to visit & make cards at the same time. Is it just ME, or does anyone else have that problem. I need time management lessons. And PLEASE find that darned sheep. I think it would be a bit scary if he nosed up while anybody was on the swings, and got a wet nose against yer legs (er...limbs). TFS & Hugs.

Before I forget, no thanks to the fab prizes this week, Di. All the girls who worked so hard and have made three entries will be delighted to hear it! (Can you believe I got the water droplet stamp from a very dear friend?! It is staying on my desk until I can create just the right card for it! But, how lucky am I? I think I will go buy one of those lottery tickets!)

I came back today because it looked like my comment was not going through the other night and it was late so I went on to bed. I hope you didn't think I was being rude to enter and not stop in! I prolly hit "prview" instead of publish with my droopy eyes!

Your snippets make is ever so pretty and the box is divine! I can't even imagine the amount of work that was!!

I'm off to check "home" and see how you are faring after your big weekend! xxoo Darnell

What a fabulous card you've made Di! That glimmer paper looks brilliant as a background in the aperture and gives a real sense of occasion and the floral frame is gorgeous. It's good to hear you being so appreciative of the lovely Victoria too. She is a member of my team and is so hard-working and conscientious as well as having a great sense of humour and being the best of company! Vicky x

Whoot! I'm back a third time! And a few more snippets are used up! Maybe I can win those droplets. Or not. A very generous gift to whoever wins.

Hi Di, I haven't manage to fit in play time here for a while so do hope the playmates are friendly to me. I just love how my latest LillyBo quilt turned out so thought I'd share it here.
