Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground - Week 78

First of all, I made this card for Len, for Fathers' Day a week ago. Grin, it came from Spike the hedgehog  and all the birds that Len so diligently feeds and waters :) I know, I know - I think a trip to the 'shrink' could be in order for me:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock

- Penny Black Stickeroo from the 'A Bunch of Love' sheet, popped onto a snippet of white card then cut with an oval die and mounted onto a snippet of SU's 'Not Quite Navy', cut as usual by drawing round the outside of the die I used for the image and hand cutting

- backing paper is from DCWV's 'Juniper Berry' stack - love the way this looks a bit like strips of Washi tape. Mounted onto another snippet of  SU's 'Not Quite Navy'

- sentiment by Craftwork Cards, mounted onto a punched oval snippet of SU's 'Not Quite Navy'

It really didn't need anything more, the backing paper did all the work

And here's a story about the dandelion - it's the Flower of the Military Child:

'Like the dandelion, military children bloom everywhere the winds carry them. They are hardy, resilient, and upright. Their roots are strong, cultivated deeply in the culture of the military, planted swiftly and surely. And ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands and new friends.'

I quite like that, having gone to 15 schools and followed my Dad all over the World when he was in the British Army. We certainly had to be resilient and ready to fly in the breezes!

So, what's been going on in the Playground this week - lots of you came to play, which is great. Here are a few 'picks':

Brenda hopped in bright and early in the week with this terrific CAS Christmas card, LOVE the adorable image and the way Brenda beautifully coloured it to match the paper snippets perfectly.

Another Christmas card, this time from Maudiroff (Maureen) - love the colours and such a lovely design.

Sorry to those who don't like to think about Christmas just yet - but can I please remind you that it's almost Sarn's monthly Rudolph Day challenge over on her blog here - starts on Tuesday 25th June.

Amanda brought this beautiful paper pieced card - I love the way Amanda's paper piecing always reflects the background so perfectly. If you go and peek, and I hope you will, be aware that you'll find loads of lovely things you really just HAVE to have over there :) Yup, ask me how I know!

Elizabeth has been away on holiday this past week, but all her scheduled posts used snippets so I decided to link a couple. Imagine the little shriek from me here yesterday morning when I found this card:
Look familiar? It's only the same Stickeroo I'd used for Len's card over a week ago now (at the top of this post) - and blues as well. Kinda spooky huh?! Love the added glitter!

Right, that had to be a really fast canter, I spent a lot of time yesterday sorting out other things and after this is scheduled I'll be running out to the supermarket, between rain showers.

Here's the draw for the Memory Box cake dies and stands, kindly donated by Mary Mac - and the winner is:
Sarah (Sazzle Dazzle)

Well done Sarah - can you please drop me an email with your snail mail address in and they will be in the post to you right away!

And this coming week there's a chance to win seven sheets of Penny Black Stickeroos, if you remember as far back as 20 weeks ago I offered the first seven, and here are the final seven (different) sheets:
There are some hedgies on one of the sheets, but sadly (despite just searching all over the internet here just now) I can't get hold of the sheet that both Elizabeth and myself used as I hoped to add one of those in as well. Everywhere is out of stock :( Mind you, the frog stickers are such fun!

The Playground will run as usual this week with the gates closing at noon UK time on Saturday 29th June. Maximum of three entries and please say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be a winner of this week's prize, the Penny Black Stickeroos shown above. Mr Linky is below - have fun!

  7. I love your card for Len and I'm sure he was delighted as well......... even in secret! lol

  8. Hi Di . . . aww what a cute Hedgie Father's Day card! I think you might be certifiable sending cards from the hedgies and birds . . . but I luvs ya anyway!

How funny that Elizabeth used same colours and stickeroo! Both terrific examples though.

    Lovely picks of the week.
CONGRAT to Sarah on winning the dies.

    Sarn xxx

  9. Love your Father's Day card. Very spooky all round with this post as I was an Army child too but only managed 10 schools. The verse was very apt too! I used to ask when we were going to move again if we stayed anywhere much more than a year and now I've lived in the same town for 43 years - but have had 3 houses!

  10. Gorgeous card there Miss. When Len makes your appointment can he make me one too? I have been certified for years!!
I know a few Army children and your comments are so right for them. I will have to tell them your poem.

  11. love your card!! all the strips of paper work really well together! Hugs Juls

  12. How spooky that those cards are so alike - both great cards too x

No thanks to the prize this week :)

  13. Thanks for the shout out Di, third pick this week for that card, everyone seemed to like it! Love your little Hedgie, and Len deserves a card for looking after all the wildlife. I hope to get my act in gear and play along this week, but as I have a bunch of the lovely Stickeroo's myself I'll say no thanks and let other enjoy them.

  14. Thanks for the win Di - I'm still buzzing. Just entered this weeks challenge on a cake theme in anticipation of playing with the memory box dies. xx

  15. No shrink needed Di! I get your reasoning behind making that cute card for the hubster!!
Congrats to all of your winners, well done!!

  16. You can't beat Penny Black Stickers! I love the background paper and I'm so glad you didn't have to spend forever cutting and piecing those strips! Have a great week, Di!

  17. Lovely card Di, and so funny that Elizabeth used the same image!

  18. Brilliant card Di, lovely image and great papers, hope Spike appreciates your time and trouble.
Great choice of showcases, well done to all the entrants.

    Kath x

  19. Yay!!! Made it this week!!!

Sorry for being a slacker Miss .. .. but I promise I am working hard!

Loving your Stickeroo make for Len. Gorgeous colours and how spooky that Elizabeth used the same colours.

Hope all is good with everyone.

    Love Jules xx

  20. Hi Di, back finally with my 1st entry - please don't enter me for the prize this time around... PS still wtg for water droplets to arrive - the arboscello tree took a while so am not worried - just letting you know why I haven't made anything with it yet] Hugs Mxx

  21. Hi Di, finally got here to comment. Your card is fab and what a coincidence that we both chose the same hedgie for our cards. Those Stickeroos are worth their weight in gold, especially when in a hurry like I was before I went off on me jollies :) Love all the cards you showcased this week - it's amazing what can be done with a just a few snippets! Hope to get around as many folk as I can before Sunday. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

PS: no thanks to the prize this week - as you are probably aware, I already have most of the sheets tucked away for emergencies :)

  22. can we book a room together Miss!!
    Great card.
Only a little snippet from me today. No Thank you to the Stickeroos as I have loads here and mustn't be a greedy piggy. Hugs Mrs A.

  23. I think Spike is thriving under the dutiful Len's tender loving care! I even saw him flash through my play yard, that's how healthy and fast he is! Spike, I mean, not Len, although that Len has certainly been know to be fast. Remember when "fast" meant flirty and racy in a naughty sense? There's an antique, at least no one uses it for that anymore over here.

Your card is fantastic and thank you, as ever, for the delightful Playground recap and oh, boy, am I tempted to go in on the prize this week, but no, no, no thank you, thank you anyway. As everyone knows by now, I have NBUS coming out of the woodwork and I must be a disciple, I mean be disciplined. What?

I'm sorry I haven't been by very much. Cray-cray week for me and I know it's been a tough one for you, hon. I'm off now to an appointment, but will come back to catch up with you and the other playmates!! xxoo Darnell

  24. Sorry Di I forgot to put 'no thank you' with my two entries. As lovely as they are I'm still working hard to use years of hoarded embellishments! Thank you for the challenge though, I do like to come and play here Karen x

  25. Its me - back with #3 - love visit and playing with everyone - bit of a more "traditional" poinsettia this time... have to use up those snippets!! Hugs Mxx [Oh and just in case I forgot - no thanks to the prize this time thank you hon..]

  26. Morning Di,
    It's Roudi from WOYWW!
Sandee told me about your challenge and I managed to enter 15 minutes before the collection was closed. Phew!

I'm your newest follower now. And via Bloglovin' too as Google Reader is leaving tomorrow. *sob* lol

    Have a lovely day .xx
