The current challenge over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge is to make a Christmas card suitable for a child. And this card is also going into Hazel's Christmas Challenge Extra for July.
Quick rootle through the 'cards to upcycle' box and I found a cute image of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet on a card:
- 4.5" x 4.5" square cream card stock
- image die cut from a lovely card from last Christmas
- mauvy-pink card from the snippets folder for backings
- patterned paper is from a 'Milton' Christmas paper pad - just 'cos the colours matched
- sentiment is by Britannia Dies, die cut from the mauvy-pink and placed (badly) onto a strip of cream card. Serves me right for not drawing a fine line first, or using a strip of removable tape as a line, sigh :(
It's a fairly well kept secret that Len's pet name for me is 'Piglet' - and I have loads of Piglet soft toys in every size going, as well as Piglet mugs and night wear :)
How did the pet name come about? I'm not sure really, it's been so long that I forget how - but I know that Piglet is a bit vertically challenged (check), obviously loves pink (check), is a bit round (cheeky!) -and also 'Despite the fact that he is a "Very Small Animal" of a generally timid
disposition, he tries to be brave and on occasion conquers his fears'. And I've had to conquer quite a few fears in my time believe me.
Crumbs though, I must have been barking mad to sit making a Christmas card yesterday in the scorching heat here! Perhaps Piglet is also a bit lacking in the common sense department...............'ere, I BET that's the main reason for the pet name! Llleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenn - come here this minute!
I love this card, I am a big kid at heart and have always loved Winnie the pooh, I have loads of eeyore stuff though, mmmm just wondering if that makes me gloomy, blue and with a lost tail lol. His, Amanda x.ReplyDelete
Ps, thank you for your comment, I am always critical of my colouring so it was so wonderful to hear you say you liked it.
Making Christmas cards in the heat is supposed to make you feel cooler. Maybe you just needed a snowflake to cool it off! It's delightful as is though. I love the way they're looking at each other in that "so there too pose"!ReplyDelete
Aww what a fabulous christmas card and the image is gorgeous.....beautiful colours too ...it does seem strange making christmas cards in sunshine but at least its getting your list down take care xxReplyDelete
well, it's a beautiful card and I love piglet lolReplyDelete
Adore this card Piglet, oops l mean Di ;)ReplyDelete
I am a HUGE fan of Pooh and his friends, I just want to squeeze Pooh, he is just so cute. Perhaps Len calls you Piglet cause you are sweet, kind and has a good head for sense just like Piglet :)
Have a bright, sunny day. Big squeezes xxx
This is gorgeous, love your design and colour and I am a big fan of Pooh. xx FloraReplyDelete

Great card there Miss! I know what you mean about C card making in the heat!! I was going to do some last night but could not face C so did some painting instead! Hope to share very soon. I feel so funny being able to say I have been painting these days and not mean walls!!!!ReplyDelete
lol oh Di you do make me smile and giggle lol! Super cute card - you are not the only one. Why in the middle of the summer I am sat making Xmas cards I have no idea lol! Karen xxReplyDelete
Your baking paper matches piglet lovely. Just sat here wondering how come your Britannia dies looking a lot bigger than mine and then realised the size of your card stock!! Obviously the answer. Smaller looks bigger. Simples!! Hugs Mrs A.ReplyDelete
I hope you made him sit on the naughty step, cheeky.ReplyDelete
Great card, fab image for a child or any grown up actually that is still into W.T.P.
Scorcher here too! Just running over to the neighbours for our craft night ...ReplyDelete
What a sweet card...love that cute little image. My eldest loved Winnie the Pooh when she was a little one!
Thanks for the tip about the repositionable tape...never thought of that...brilliant idea.
I draw the line and then have a dickens of a time erasing it from some papers!
Will be back later tonight with some cards to post finally and to catch up on the playfground antics!
Well, now you've gone and done it, I hope you know. You'll henceforth and forever be called Piglet by me, too. You are a brave little gal and that's the truff!! I think I'll just save it for my comments, however, as posting that you are Miss Piglet Di seems a bit rude on the face of it, if one doesn't know the back story bit. Adorable card, BTW!!ReplyDelete
Hi Di, another super card - love the reused topper, perfect for the challenge, and the colours are nicely non-traditional too. As for Len's pet name ... I'm sure he chose it for all the good reasons and not that last. How is he this morning, recovered I hope :) Hugs, Elizabeth xxReplyDelete
