Wedding card for a special couple

What seems like ages ago now I made Save the Date and Wedding invitations for Jess and Stuart - who are getting married today. On Wednesday of this week (on WOYWW) I was still struggling to make a card for their special day as the one under way didn't really echo the invitations properly. But then inspiration struck.

I remembered that their second choice from the samples made almost a year ago had punched butterflies on - they opted in the end for this 'ribbon threaded with a diamante heart' design:
So, a combination of the two resulted in this:
 I used:

- white DL card stock

- aubergine card which was then topped with some lovely card embossed with 'flittered' swirls by Best Creation Inc - called 'Mr and Mrs'. The sheets are 12" x 12" and I found it in Hobbycraft - of course the swirls don't show up well in the photo unless you enlarge it and peer closely at the screen :(

- the aubergine ribbon is wider but the same colour as I used when making the invitations and the larger diamante heart came from my goodies store

- the butterflies are actually double layered (punched using my favourite X-Cut butterfly punch) and the wings are just slightly offset, aubergine underneath and the 'flittered' card on top - with little pearl strips down the butterfly bodies

- the sentiment was stamped using SU's 'Perfect Plum' and a SU stamp that I bought ages ago (pre-loved so I don't know which set it's from, or perhaps it's discontinued even). I didn't like any of my Wedding Day stamps but this one seemed to fit the bill OK

- the sentiment was then punched using a SU punch, gently edged with 'Perfect Plum' and just four small diamantes added

Let's just hope the weather is kind for them today. Which is Friday, so the weekend beckons for us all too :)

  2. I always enjoy hearing how a project is 'saved'. This is a lovely card, and the little butterflies are so lacy & pretty. Like the way you used them over the cutout. Nifty color combo too. They should love it. TFS
