Sunday Snippets - Little Ducklings!

My snippets make today is actually two cards, same design featuring different images and sentiments:

I used:

- A6 off-white Papermania Tri Fold Window Photo Aperture card- snippets of pale ivory card, snippets of 150 gsm vellum and snippets of double sided - sticky paper. I chose pale ivory card to blend better with the off-white card blank

- I had a set of cute little duckling stickers from Temu, so I used a couple of those for the cards. Next I do plan to die cut some of my own aperture layers but for now I'm still taking it steady in the craft room

- first the little duckling sticker was adhered onto a piece of vellum then backed the vellum with double sided sticky paper, flipped the image over, peeled off the protective backing and popped a piece of pale ivory card onto the sticky. This gave a solid backing adhered to the image sitting on top of vellum - using vellum is still the best backing for these stickers. They are meant for adhering to glass, plain pottery mugs and such - but when you peel off the sticky surround on paper you also wreck the card surrounding the image!  Just a heads up - be sure to look for something like UV DTF Stickers if you don't want stickers with clear surrounds. There are some lovely ones but the UV DTF Stickers are the most realistic IMHO'

- used red line extra sticky tape to adhere the image behind the aperture and also to adhere the folded front panel over the image piece of the card

- then, with heart in mouth, I stamped the sentiments using VersaFine Clair ink 'Nocturne' and a 'Speedy Recovery' sentiment stamps from a Hunkydory 'For the Love of Stamps' set called Bees and Butterflies. Plus a general 'Lovely Day' stamp from Penny Black's 'Super Day' stamp se.; The Penny Black sentiments are so much finer - but needs must when you need a particular occasion's sentiment!

- the finishing touch was a few deep  red enamelled dots beside the sentiment

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge #858 - HERE - under 'Sympathy/Thinking of You/Get Well' - I was so determined to join in with the theme!

Darnell's NBUS Challenge #90 HERE- the little duckling stickers were out to play for the first time

Dudley Pupdate: We lost Dudley the other afternoon! Len hunted and we both called for ages, Then, we finally spotted him having a good snooze on the floor - stretched along one side of the bed - blending in very nicely with the bedding! He must have been having a little chuckle at our expense I'm sure. He's pretty good at playing possum when he doesn't want to be disturbed!

The results and winner of Challenge #540 can be found HERE .

Sarn's current challenge is halfway through over in the Snippets Playground - just scroll down from the results post. Autumn is on the way so it won't be long before pumpkin carving time and jacket potatoes!

Love from myself and Dudley,

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #330

It's time for a new Snippets fortnight - and the theme is just the same as usual - anything goes so long as you use one or more 'snippets/scraps'. Simples!

I'm totally caught up with commenting on the challenge which just closed - phew! I lagged behind a few times I know.

And the reason was our break in Germany. Even though we had wi-fi all the time there just didn't seem to be any spare moments to catch up - which is a good thing of course! The weather was glorious - and then we returned home to more of what we left behind when we flew off to Germany. Despite five fans running at full blast - they just seem to be pushing hot air around at the moment :)

My snippets card this time isn't quite as bright as the last fortnight's was - but it's still colourful:
I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, side opening

- stamps from the Art Impressions 'Doggy Kisses' set

- first of all I found the striped snippets, and the pieces of backing paper - all from the Studio Calico 'Snippets' Collection paper pads I have here (and each one was a snippet as well. I keep little snippets in the back of each paper pad, popped into a sealed envelope which has been cut in half to form a pockets then stuck onto the inside of the backing card

- next stamped the little dog and the sentiment onto a snippet of white card using a Memento 'Tuxedo Black' inkpad

- coloured the image using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and added some green 'grass' to ground the pooch

- trimmed the image to the size I wanted and backed it with a red snippet of paper

- then glued a band of striped paper to a slightly wider band of golden yellow paper before gluing it to the card front

- I deliberately left some overhang at top and bottom, which I trimmed off from the back (that gives you the line of the card itself to follow) just using sharp scissors

- then glued the image panel in place

- finishing touch, three little black paw prints using another stamp from the same stamp set - and the Misti of course!

To be honest, I was so behind after our holiday that I really wasn't sure I'd manage to make a snippets card at all - but I'm so glad I did! The stamp set is just such fun and really lovely to use - I can see it being super-useful for Get Well cards :)

Len just spotted the finished card on my desk and had a good chuckle. We spent some time on a few of the days in Germany with me showing the little grand daughters the rudiments of card making - and their Mama joined in too. I'd taken a load of stuff, including some stamps and also new colouring pencils and markers for them. So a lot of time was spent stamping and then colouring images - and Len's comment just now was 'The girls would be proud of you'! Little smile here :)

I'll write a bit more and show some of their work shortly. Kids amaze me with their ability to pick ideas up and then push themselves further and further - and it helps that their Mum is naturally artistic of course. We had a lot of fun and laughter for sure.

Without you needing to guess, here's this week's Snippets Playground prize:
Yup, it's an Art Impressions 'Doggy Kisses' set of stamps of your very own for the randomly selected winner - and I do think the sentiments are brilliant, along with the fun pooches.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 21st July. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post - just in case you're playing only for fun - otherwise I ignore you on my little list.

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)

Be sure to call back next week to see the fortnight's picks and the winner of the Sizzix 'Flowers #6' stamp and die set, Memory Box 'Sketchbook Imagine' die and a set of four hearts die.

Love from Parsnip and of course from me,

Crazy Bird get well card ...........

..........for our own dear Crazy Bird, Miss Darnell!

Lots of you will already know that Darnell wrote on her blog that she was having an operation last Tuesday. It's all gone well and she's no longer in fear of her 'baby basket' making a bid for freedom - as she so neatly described it!

As soon as I knew the date of her 'theatre appearance' I made Darnell a get well card and it has arrived in California already:
I used:

- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank, side opening

- a piece of white card stock, embossed using a Cuttlebug 'Pinking Stitch' folder and trimmed to the same size as the card front

- snippet of white card stock for stamping the image and little extras on

- then I set to using the fabulous Tim Holtz 'Bird Crazy' stamp set as well as the Tim Holtz 'Crazy Things' stamp set. First I stamped the images I wanted onto the white snippet and then coloured them using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Sansodor blending solution

- next I die cut the Crazy Bird using the matching thinlets die set, and fussy cut the 'Crazy Things' hat and bunch of flowers

- at this point I knew where I wanted the bird to sit in relation to the sentiment I planned to add so I did a little grey stripe on the front panelusing a Promarker and covered it with clear Wink of Stella

- next I stamped 'Get Well' using the Misti, Memento 'Tuxedo Black ink and a stamp from the Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' set

- next assembled the bird by cutting along it's wing to tuck the bunch of flowers in place and also cut along the back part of the hat so it sits properly on the birdie's head - used red line tape to fix things in place

- as the red line tape was already out I used it to add to the back of the assembled image and then stuck it onto the card front

- resisted the urge to add some turquoise sparkly sequins but did ad some little tickles of clear Wink of Stella to the flowers (hat and bouquet)

- finally, when the card was ready to be put safely to one side, I added 'Glossy Accents' to the eyes

I do have to smile at the birdie (as they say) it almost seems to be looking up to check that nothing's gonna fall on its head from above! :)

Here's hoping that Darnell is soon back to her usual bouncy self!

Take your carrot medicine!

The other week a neighbour was whipped into hospital, with what turned out to be appendicitis. Once she was back home to recuperate from surgery, we gave her this card:
I used:

- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank

- more of the same white card for a slightly smaller layer on the card front, embossed using Cuttlebug's 'Swiss Dots' folder

- the image is a pre-coloured LOTV one, bought ages ago. Die cut using a Spellbinders Nesties square die with each corner rounded using a Woodware rounder punch

- then I found the perfectly matching colour card to the light purple bunch of grapes in the snippets folder and die cut a scalloped square using a Spellbinders Nestie from the 'Lacey Square' set and glued the image to it

- next I used a stamp from the Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' set to stamp onto white card using a Memento 'Elderberry' dye ink pad

- die cut a purple frame using Impression Obsession's 'Rectangle 6-in-1' frame die (I'd already established that the sentiment and frame would fit one another of course), trimmed the sentiment and glued it behind the frame

- then it was just a case of making sure I positioned the topper and the sentiment correctly onto the card front, using thin sticky pads. Having the lines of embossed dots as a guide was a huge help :)

- and I gave the grapes and the spoon a very light tickle of clear Wink of Stella

When the in-house critic saw this he really liked it a lot, then said - 'but why is the letter 't' upside down?'. Try explaining 'funky fonts' to a non-crafting fella! Of course, it then started to bother me as well :)

Isn't it the way. I'd just given a box of 90 assorted cards to a local care home for the residents to use - and had almost cleaned myself out of finished cards here. Bit of a scramble to make this one - that'll larn me!

Get well soon

A buddy had an op recently (you know who you are chick!) and, once she was safely back home, I made this card to send:
I used:

- 5" x 5" square white card blank

- backing paper from Bo Bunny's 'et cetera' collection

- the image is SU's 'Too Kind' layered flowers set - which I struggle with a bit as they aren't clear like some of the newer sets, so there was much huffing, puffing and use of the SU Stamp-a-ma-jig! I stamped using SU's 'Old Olive', 'Pumpkin Pie' and 'Tangerine Tango' inks

- the sentiment is from the same set, stamped using Memento 'London Fog'

- then I die cut the image using a Spellbinders die from the 'Labels One' set and just ran a ball tool round the other side of the die cut before removing it from the die. Much quicker than setting up the tan mat if the die is fairly simple :)

- final touch is a little butterfly, die cut/embossed using SU's 'Beautiful Wings' embosslits, a snippet of SU 'Old Olive' card stock and three little pearls added down the body

Hope you're still improving - and doing those exercises :)

Sheltering Tree - Take One

Recently I bought SU's 'Sheltering Tree' stamp set - and at the weekend I found time to have a little play:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card blank

- snippet of SU's 'Smoky Slate' card stock, cut just slightly smaller than the card and then run through the Cuttlebug with Die'Sire's 'Swirl Corner' embossing folder

- a snippet of 'Annabelle's Meadow' paper from Wild Rose Studio's paper pack

- the image was made up using stamps from SU's 'Sheltering Tree' set and mostly Tim Holtz Distress Markers. Using the brilliant Fiskars 'Compact Stamp Press', first I stamped the grass using 'Mowed Lawn', next the tree trunk and branches using 'Gathered Twigs' - followed by the blossom using firstly 'Victorian Velvet' and then 'Picked Raspberry'

- I then added the swing by colouring the stamp using a Whispers Black marker - the jury is still out on this one to be honest as I think the swing looks much too chunky. It could be the marker I used (maybe an ink pad would be better) - or I pressed too firmly on the stamp press. OR, it's just made that way :( I need to have a play with ink pads when time allows - failing that it would be easy enough just to draw a swing using a fine liner

- the sentiment also comes with the set, stamped using Memento 'London Fog'

- finally I die cut the image using a Lil'Inkers 'Stitched Rectangle' die and just stuck the whole card together using Collall All Purpose Glue

Job done - and I think this card would be fine as a sympathy card or to wish someone well who is under the weather. I still need to work on that swing stamp though!

Another Get Well card

This is the second Get Well card I was asked to make recently. It's for a lovely friend called Pat, she's more of a flowers person than Marge - who I made the Froggy card for a week or more ago:
As I had the Stickeroos out, plus the big flat box of SU 12" x 12" card stock - it made sense to rootle round and see what went with what:

I used:

- 5" x 7" white card stock

- Penny Black Stickeroo from the 'Sun-kissed' sheet

- SU's 'Pumpkin Pie' card stock

- white card, embossed using SU's 'Square Lattice' Textured Impressions folder and swiped over with a SU 'Pumpkin Pie' ink spot. This is a fabulous folder, and looks great just left white but I wanted to play :)

- orange gingham backing paper from Wild Rose Studio's 'Gorgeous Ginghams' paper pack

- sentiment from SU's 'Sincere Salutations' set, stamped with SU's 'Pumpkin Pie'. The sentiment was then punched using SU's 'Decorative Label' punch. I then punched a snippet of 'Pumpkin Pie' with the same punch, cut it in half vertically, trimmed a little bit from the centre portions and layered the sentiment on top so a little bit pokes out from either end. I think I got this idea of extending punched shapes from Elizabeth?

- white and orange bakers twine and a little flower shaped orange button from the button box

Friday again - I bet quite a few sighs of 'TGIF' are doing the rounds :)

Here's lookin' at you

At Sunday's meeting I was asked to make a couple of Get Well cards for lady Committee members. They are both lovely ladies and of course I set to straight away yesterday. The first one is for Marge, who has a wicked sense of humour. So I thought it had to be something amusing:
Marge and I often sit opposite to one another at meetings and many a time I have to look away - just a little rueful smile and a raised eyebrow from her sets me off with the giggles. Plus, her little ritual is to treat herself to a mini bottle of red wine at lunchtime to help during the afternoon when topics get turgid, sometimes I think a full bottle would be a better option :)

So, Penny Black froggies came to the rescue - and this is the Stickeroo I picked - and the sentiment inside will say 'Here's Looking At You' - I just know she'll cotton onto the meaning :))

I used:

- 5" x 7" white card stock

- Penny Black Stickeroo from the 'Pond-side Celebration' sheet, plain oval Nestie and a scalloped oval Nestie

- SU's 'Certainly Celery' card stock plus a matching one from a SU patterned pack bought over a year ago

- 'Dragonfly' embossing folder made by Craft Conceptions

- sentiment from SU's 'Sincere Salutations' set, stamped in 'Certainly Celery' and die cut with SU's 'Decorative Label' punch

- a snippet of pink ribbon from Hobbycraft I think, I have the last 2" long piece in a little poly bag ready to be taken to search for some more

A card for Bernie

This card is already winging its way across the Atlantic and should almost be there now but I thought I'd publish it here anyhow before it arrives - just to let Bernie know how much we're all thinking of her, if indeed she even feels like looking at blogs right now:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock

- Penny Black stamp called 'Love Blush', coloured with Pro Markers and die cut with a blue frame added

- sentiment by SU from the 'Sincere Salutations' set - stamped with SU 'Bashful Blue'

- papers by SU, 'Bashful Blue' from the Subtles range - Bernie's favourite colour is blue

- Martha Stewart PATP straight edged punch from the 'Vintage Lace' set to make the blue lacy strip

- 'baby blue' organza ribbon from the ribbon box

- 'baby pink' pearls, probably from Hobbycraft

I've seen how many of you have been over to Bernie's blog to add your positive thoughts and prayers, I'm sure she will be very touched by your love and care.

Get well soon card for a chap

I struggle with 'cards for chaps' at the best of times and when I needed a 'get well' card for a friend's husband it was a double-struggle here! He's just had major surgery and the card is another one to be sent from our old school association - but what to do? I pondered over a very simple card just using a get well sentiment and then a little bit of an idea came to me - 'little' in the shape of this young man:
Yup, it's another Lily of the Valley 'never been  used' stamp - called Karate Kid.

I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock

- LOTV ' Karate Kid' stamp, coloured with Pro Markers (minimal colouring needed too so it was super-quick)

- orange card from the trusty Core'dinations stash

- papers from Bo Bunny's 'Barefoot and Bliss' collection, which has some really great papers for seaside and Summer cards

- computer printed sentiment

- Josy Rose nail heads

And that's my card for today - here's hoping the card does the trick!

Introducing 'The Prancing Prickles'!

Recently I was posting on here about the fact that perhaps the hedgehogs need to get a job to pay for their food. That gave rise to some very amusing comments about Boy Bands - then I wondered, what if they were lady hedgehogs. Girl Band? OR, a dance troupe called 'The Prancing Prickles' perhaps?

I think I really do need to get out a bit more - but little cogs began to turn and I remembered a Penny Black stamp that I've had for many years. Yesterday on WOYWW I was squeaking with delight at finally cracking masking (well, almost!) using the amazing Magi-film made by Woodware. So, I played a bit and ended up with this card - it reminds me a bit of the opening scene in 'The Sound of Music':
 And the inside:
Moira commented yesterday about school reunions and our prancing antics - little did she know how close she was to the mark 'cos this card is being sent to a fellow ex-pupil who has just had a hip replacement op. You'll remember Helga (Smith at the time) as the Dancer in the school production of Peer Gynt Moira? She had a walking stick in June at our last reunion and is now sporting a brand new hip:) I went down the same route six years ago and can honestly say it gave me my life back, I felt about 20 years younger after the op. - shame they didn't throw in some work on the face at the same time :)

So, the sentiment 'Dance like no-one's watching' seemed especially appropriate! I love this PB hedgies stamp, it always makes me smile - especially the little one doing a pirouette (sneaked today's big word in there nicely!).

Oh man, I want to enter this into the current Penny Black challenge which is 'Create a Scene' (I only know this from Jules and a couple of other bloggy friends who hop in here) and have just hopped over to check the expiry date. At least one of the DT cards (especially Helen's) also uses a little hill and some sky! At the risk of being disqualified for plagiarism (second big word of the day) I'm still going to enter this card - mostly as it's a luck of the draw challenge, not the actual design and also 'cos I genuinely didn't know. Why me?! I suppose realistically there are only so many scenes you can create :(

So, here goes with the entry anyhow:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Week 167

I used:

- C6 plain white card stock
- Image - Penny Black 2361K 'Ecarte, Splits, Pirouette'
- Sentiment - Bella Stamping
- Pro Markers
- Inks - Memento Black for the image and Tsukineko  Brilliance - Pearlescent Sky Blue for the sentiment, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass for the sky
- Card for the grassy hill from my snippets
- Little flowers punched from snippets and pearly stones for the centres from my stash
Thanks for calling by and for all your lovely comments - mwah!!

Get well card - and an exploding egg!

Bet the egg's got you thinking :) But firstly - I finished the get well card - you were all so right, walking away and leaving it was a very good idea:

The image is 'Little Nurse' - one of LOTV's cuties - coloured with Pro Markers. I made my first mistake here - cut the image using a Labels 8 Nestie and then realised I hadn't coloured her hair 'cos I'd been undecided whether she should be a blonde or a brunette. And, of course I went over the outline at the top of her head - no amount of using the blender pen worked so I tried edging the outline right round with a PM as contrast. Humph, it looked awful so out came the little scissors and the whole edging was trimmed off.

The background papers were much too heavy a pattern so I changed track on those - these ones came from a freebie set with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine ages ago.

Then the ribbon wasn't playing - originally it was turquoise narrower ribbon layered over the red. Looked much too heavy so off that came. The white lacy ribbon seemed much better but then a bit of sticky could be felt so out came the brads. By this point the desk was like a bombsite with all the options that had been discarded and not put away.

It's an easel card and I'd cut a piece of white backing card to hide the wrapped around ribbons and the back of the brads. You know what's coming dontcha?! Yup, I forgot to add that before assembling the card -that was the point at which I gave up and ran away.

However, yesterday I returned to the fray and just added said piece of card to the back - already scored so it folds fine. The charms behaved beautifully, picking up cherries and strawberries in the backing paper. Whoopee - on a roll here - until it was time to add the already stamped (LOTV again) sentiment and the scalloped circle as the final touch. Cries here of 'I don't belieeeeeve it' - just like Victor Meldrew. I miscalculated where it was to go and it ended up off centre! I know that could look deliberate but it just wasn't right at all. Funny enough though, the sticky pads I normally use (from Wilkinsons) are impossible to remove, but yesterday I wanted more height and had used some thicker little square one. Phew - it came of without too much of a murmur and this time I double checked before it was stuck back down. SUCCESS!!!

The card is for a super lady who was one of my Mum's best friends. She's currently in hospital and loves bright and cheerful. If Moira looks in - you know Mary too of course!

We first met in Singapore when I was about 10 years old - and she and Mum were like chalk and cheese. Mum was quite reserved and Mary was - well - madcap! They made a great pair in fact.

If there was something fun to try out - Mary was first in the queue. One day she arrived with her latest scheme - if you pickle an egg in vinegar then the shell softens after a while and you can squeeze it into the neck of a bottle, then the shell hardens once it's dried out. Hey presto - one egg magically inside a bottle.

Mum was sceptical (today's big word) and left us to it in the kitchen - returning to her dressmaking. The egg was left uncooked and popped into a bowl of vinegar - I think that was possibly the first mistake. We couldn't find distilled vinegar so we drained a jar of pickled onions to raid the vinegar. In Singapore the pickled onions came in huge jars and the vinegar was coloured pink - very pretty and I haven't come across them since.

A couple of weeks elapsed and eventually the day for the 'deed' arrived. Mary arrived with an empty wine bottle - are you getting the picture here - this was all taking place in OUR house, she was quite cute. The egg was removed from the vinegar and squeezing began. It was going quite well at first but suddenly, one squeeze too far and the whole egg exploded - showering us and the kitchen with the most revolting pink and green mess. Yup, in that heat the egg had gone rotten. Mum had been watching from the sidelines and her reaction was to smartly close the kitchen door and lock it, with us captured on the inside. 'And you can both stay in there until you clean it all up' came the order from the safety of the opposite side of the door. We were both gasping for breath but also almost doubled up in hysterics. And you know the stupid thing - we meekly did clean everything up and not once did we think to open the back door to either escape or let the smell out!!!

Happy days!

Just chilling out card

This is another LOTV cute square card - just so you can see what lovely little designs there are!

I made this for our daughter in law's Dad who is recovering from surgery. It's self-explanatory - I kept it crisp and simple just adding his name at the bottom right. The papers came from my stash - and the hardest bit was writing our message in German on the insert!
Oh how I love these LOTV squares.....and the layers were stuck down correctly despite the piccie making it seem that they're a bit on the low side....I need a better camera sometime, or perhaps I should get down on my knees to take piccies :(

Quick cards - courtesy of a QVC kit

This kit from QVC is gorgeous - and quite quick and easy to make with no scrabbling for matching (or otherwise!) papers. The results look very co-ordinated and I just love every single image. It's called the 'Special Moments' kit I think and the other day I made a few cards. This first one is for my OH's teenage great-niece's birthday - she's mad about horses and is also a very good horsewoman!

Almost everything comes with the kit, including the sentiments and main card stock in beautiful patterns. The only thing I added here was a little piece of ribbon from my stash, some silver card candy and a couple of  little charms from my stash tied with pink and white Bakers Twine from The Ribbon Girl. The Ribbon Girl's stuff is just great and their service is brilliant - I can't link to their website right now for some reason but they sure are worth a visit. Loads of ribbons (natch!), lace, twines, seam binding - which is all the rage right now - and lots of other goodies.

I then (not realising there was enough backing card for every image to be made as an A5 card - Dumbo!) made this smaller card:
It's quite cute really but I could have kicked myself when I realised I couldn't count! The shaped Craftwork Cards card stock is just perfectly shaped for the already die cut layers.

And, as Get Well cards are always so handy to have to hand I then made these two for my box of standby cards.

Both of the Get Well cards (A5) were made using just what came in the kit and a little bit of ribbon from my stash. One thing I couldn't really do without :)

Get well card

This card is for a lady currently in hospital after major surgery. She's on a club committee which my OH chairs and we thought a card from all the club members would be a nice gesture. A funny/jokey card didn't really seem appropriate - so I went for feminine and pretty.

The card itself is quite large (8" x 8") and came ready embossed, with a nice flat patch in the centre, from The Range a few weeks ago on my one and only visit. The pyramage is a Dufex one, I keep a few of these ready made up on standby. Then I mounted the image onto a scalloped square cut from silver linen effect card - which came from Craft Creations ages ago. Then just Pauline's name using peel offs layered onto the same silver linen card and some card with little wisps of silver on....finished off with small aurora borealis gems in each corner - and added to the card using thin adhesive pads.

The finishing touch is an organza bow using ribbon from my stash, but doubtless bought from Hobbycraft**.

Making the insert to go inside was a tad tricky but it worked out in the end - I printed the club logo above a printed message and left lots of room for people to sign at their regular committee meeting on Tuesday evening. The challenge was how to make a double folded insert which was much bigger than A4 folded in half. But, endless careful measuring and some careful joining at the spine of the card worked really well - you wouldn't know what a struggle it had been :)

** To my absolute delight, Hobbycraft are opening a branch within just a couple of miles of here in October! I'm as happy as a pig in 'you know what'!! Sudden thought, I wonder if a part time job in the new store would be a good, or totally bankrupting, idea!!? :))

Get well card

I made this card in a bit of a rush for a friend who has just had a total hip replacement. She's doing well and I can empathise as I've also been there and got the T-shirt - four and a half years ago now! It gave me my active life back and I'm so grateful.

I used the 'Hoot The Owl' Get Well Stamp by Joanna Sheen http://joannasheen.com/.
I like the fact that Joanna's on-line shop doesn't charge for P & P - I think the minimum order is £5 - plus their service is very quick.

The image was coloured the image using watercolour pencils - def. need more practise with shading etc, and more shades of brown.....poor Hoot does have a bit of an orange tinge :( but then he is meant to be a bit off-colour, lol!.

The background paper is from my stash, peachy orange Card Candy from Craftwork Cards and the peachy organza ribbon came from Joanna Sheen's online shop. They have everchanging special offers, just a few things at a time, and this reel of 15mm x 5m Organza Ribbon was reduced from £1.99 to 99p. Not bad huh when you can pay 39p upwards for just a metre in one well known craft store I go to.

Thanks for stopping by!
