It was Len's Birthday this past week - and as he enjoys playing the guitar, I made this card for him:
I used:
- 5.75" x 5.75" square cream card blank - side opening
- 5.5" x 5.5" layer of deep blue card - a snippet - glued onto the card front
- various snippets of red mirror card, cream, black and a teensy snippet of matte silver mirror card for the guitar and the music elements
- making the guitar itself was the most challenging parts but I'm happy with the result. Some parts were just embossed onto the main guitar so required embosing then careful hand cutting from white and silver card. The Globeland die set I used came from Amazon and is called 'Mandala Guitar'
- then I glued the music elements in place using the finest nozzle in the Bearly glue set. For those who use Bearly glue with the different nozzles, Val reminded me that Chrissie Stokes uses replacement very fine line nozzles from Amazon - I took the risk and ordered a packet and they're perfect! Just ask if you would like the link.
- next I added the guitar using snipped up thin sticky pads
- added a Clarity Happy Birthday sentiment sticker to the bottom right corner - which is much blacker in real life. Mind you, the red of the guitar is glossy bright red in real life - my camera hates me!
- the finishing touch was a few silver Anita's star stickers to soften the blank areas a bit
Len was well pleased with the card - we're both fans of Hank Marvin and of course this is the same as his famous red Fender Strat. Easier than trying to emulate Len's own 'sunburst' shaded Strat!
I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge #860 - HERE - under 'Anything Goes'
Darnell's NBUS Challenge #91 HERE - the guitar die set is NBUS
Dudley Pupdate: We've been looking for a domestic house cleaner for months. Finally, finally, we found a lovely lady and after a preliminary visit, she returned on Tuesday and set to like a little whirlwind! She did a great job, very thorough, and best of all - Dudley was like a changed dog. He gets very stressed when people come into the house, as I know I've said on here previously. But, with Jenny he was either devotedly lying watching her work, making sure he had cuddles from her now and then - and the rest of the time he spent beside my craft room door upstairs! Even snoozing at times! This is unheard of - but as a dog lover herself and also making Dudley feel a bit involved we think that went a long way.
The results and winner of Challenge #542 can be found HERE.
Sarn's current challenge is halfway through over in the Snippets Playground - just scroll down from the results post.
Love from myself and Dudley,
