I took this photo yesterday afternoon - is that cheating? Perhaps not as Julia, like me, prefers the afternoon light - she said so this morning on her blog so if it's good enough for our Head Girl then it's good enough for me :)

It was taken at the point that I threw the towel in! On my desk are a few Pro Markers, the scoring blade from the Woodware Trimmer, assorted ribbons, buttons (none of which were right), sticky scissors that needed cleaning and other general detritus (my big word for today). And, in the background, like a little row of soldiers on parade some Inkylicious Ink Dusters awaiting despatch to Sarn - plus some LOTV stamps waiting for me to also stamp some promised images.

Yesterday had been not a good day from the word 'go' - the dreadful scenes of rioting shown on TV were appalling and my heart went out out to those innocently caught up in it all - and I just despair over what our country is spiralling down into. One heart lifting item on TV this morning showed a whole community turning out to do a big clean-up - we might be down, but we won't be broken even though the looting and violence has spread elsewhere.

Yesterday I also did my own little battle with our insurance company (a semi-victory - the premium has been drastically reduced and some M&S vouchers to the tune of £70 are on their way). Trust me, once I get my sticky paws on those vouchers we'll still be leaving them........hey, why couldn't they have been craft supplies vouchers?!

I was also making one of those cards that just seems to be jinxed - if it could go wrong, then it did. But, I'm a stubborn mule sometimes and it's a get well card for someone special so I kept sorting and fixing it. But, eventually I got to the point where I had to leave it alone and toddle off to do other things - at this rate the recipient will be fully recovered by the time it's finished!

That's my lot for today - but at least it's a messier desk than usual. Now I have to return to that 'tricky-woo-woo' card and see if I can finish it off :(

To see happier crafters do hop over to Julia's to see what they're up to on WOYWW.

  1. a piccy with light is a blessing so Tuesday is fine I say! Great news on the insurance - spoil yourself with the vouchers (waltz around the food dept. and pretend you always do the weekly shop at M&S!)
I also have a Dutch pretties parcel giveaway on my blog today if you fancy some colour!
Thanks for sharing your WOYWW desk today,
    Sarah at 3

  2. Great creative desk there - I too take a photo of my desk on a Tuesday afternoon its so much easier! Hope you have a better day today. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I think we all have days like that Di when what we are doing just wont go right but I bet this morning you will start with fresh eyes and it will done in next to no time :-)
    A x

  4. M&S vouchers - ooh, some nice new towels or bed linen. They've got a lovely glass jug with strawberries on too. Do you want any help spending them??! Well done for persevering with the card too :) x

  5. awesome job getting the vouchers out of your insurance company! I think they charge way too much. A few years ago I got to thinking about life insurance and realized I was betting the insurance company that I was going to die and they would have to pay up and I had to stop and rethink the whole insurance thing again. Interesting! Thanks for sharing. Vickie

  6. Yay, I took mine at mindnight...(Mindnight??? Midnight!!) after I swept all my stuff out the way! Now I have to tidy up today before I fall over and get buried alive!!
Lovely tidy desk, have a great WOYWW

  7. Pretty tidy despite your calamitous day!

Hmmm . . . I think I'll have to hide those ink dusters from the husband or he might get the shaving stick out!!!!

Congrats on getting some vouchers from the insurance co. I agree with Sasa . . . have a waltz around the food dept!
    HUGS, Sarn xxxx

  8. Yup, a waltz around the M&S food dept seems the best option to me too! :) Di x

  9. Thanks for sharing your space this week and I hope the rest of your week goes well!

  10. Well done on the vouchers, M&S Food Hall here you come!!! Thought they were Len's shaving brushes - not craft items! I've got to pick your brains later, so look out for an email! x

  11. sending love to all of you in UK. hope they realized that there are other parts of the world less fortunate than them. hope everything works out in the end.

  12. Yum - you could buy 7 x £10 meal deals and you won't have to do real cooking for a whole week!! AND you would have 7 bottles of wine to share - Wipso and I will be round at once - er she doesn't drink but I will manage her share so don't worry. lol x Jo

  13. You could always Ebay your vouchers and then spend on craft. Well done in getting them anyway.
Thanks for the peek even though I did think at first you were a barber!!!!!!
    Hugs Joanne xxx

  14. Yup, Tuesdays are just fine! I like your marker storage by that lamp. I hate when those cards, sometimes its a Layout that won't work out! we get it done in the end! Maybe your mojo needs a break ;)

  15. We have been hearing about the dreadful happenings there. Sometimes I think the world has gone mad. It was nice to here people are coming out to clean up the mess, not everyone has gone mad.
Good on you for taking on the insurance people. Enjoy the vouchers.

I have a card I've been working on for weeks. It will not cooperate but I am determind to win out. It's a Christmas card but at the rate things are going it may not be done till 2012. Hope yours will come together today and hope the rest of the week will be sunny and bright.

  16. Thank you Di for sharing that information with us its sad to think what's happening in the community so many innocent people getting wrapped up in this it's awful, on another note your desk looks well worked and like the comment above fresh eyes will sort out your card :) Sandra H

  17. Messy? That is pristine as far as I am concerned!
My heart goes out to all those affected by the riots. It saddens me to think what our society has come to.
    Happy WOYWW

  18. Great job with the insurance company, although I think most of them will be putting up their rates to pay for all the damage in England right now! Sometimes you just have to walk away form the desk don't you?

  19. Since I finished that journal I have days like you - nothing fits nothing is right! Huh! I want to do cards again but I am out of juice at the moment! Still you can be spending some insurance money - go and buy yourself something nice, that will cheer you up and soon you will be crafting away!
    Lots of hugs,

  20. Thanks for the glimpse. Have a great day.

  21. Thanks for sharing your work desk! Sorry that the card did not work out! We all keep you guys in our prayers with the riots going on. Thanks for sharing your WOYWW- Amanda

  22. Hi Di

Having a quick catch up with the world before the day takes hold.

Your desk looks nice and interesting as always.

I have thought of a way for you to turn your M&S vouchers into craft vouchers.

You use the vouchers to do your food shopping at M&S and then spend what would normally be your food money on crafty stash!!

Full of bright ideas me!!! Ooops ... just seen this has already been suggested .. .. oh well ... this can just be a reminder.

Good luck with the get well card. Have a good day.

    Love Jules xx

  23. Well good for you over the insurance. And I love the little row of colour dusters on your desk. I fthis is the point at which you stop, I have to say that you work very tidily!

  24. Hi well done on the vouchers. Sorry I'm a bit late with my comments -it's been that sort of a week. Your desk looked very tidy compared to mine whilst I was trying to get a card right. Thanks for sharing. Anne x

  25. Hope my project gives you a little bit more inspiration after your awful day Wednesday.
Sorry I am so late getting around but I’ve had a two day’s craft tour. Thank’s for visiting me.
