As you just might suspect, I adore pink - especially what I'd call the 'bluer' shades such as a pale crisp pink without even a tinge of peach, and of course fuchsia:
I used:
- 6" x 6" square white card stock - tent fold
- fuchsia pink backing card
- image from LOTV's 'Fairies' Art Pad - pre-coloured, die cut using Nesties Labels Eighteen and then popped onto my usual 'traced and hand cut' slightly larger border of more fuchsia pink. Added a tickle of Ice Stickles 'Cherry Ice' to the wings 'cos fairies have sparkly wings - at least all the ones I've ever met have
- backing paper from a favourite paper pad by Prima called 'Firefly' - I angled the image so as not to obscure the flowers :)
- a bow made using pure silk fuchsia ribbon, topped with an' ivory flower shape flat back 12mm pearl' - both from Wild Orchid Crafts
- self adhesive pearls top and bottom
This card reminds me of one of our little grand daughters - who would like to be a ballerina when she grows up, unless she can be a fairy or Barbie!
I'd like to enter this card into the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp - where the current them is 'Things with wings'.
Anyone been having trouble uploading photos by the way? I've had trouble all week with slowness but yesterday Blogger refused to even get off its rear end and so much as try :(
After some searching on the internet I discovered it's a current 'known problem' - which Blogger are taking their time sorting out. The crux of it is that both Firefox and IE (Internet Explorer) can be affected - so if you're suffering, do as I did and try Google Chrome.
Bingo, Chrome works perfectly. I much prefer Firefox, it's more secure for a start which might be part of the issue, but until it's resolved (and many Bloggers are screaming for Blogger to extract a digit and sort it out) I'm happy to keep hopping to and fro - using Chrome when writing a post and Firefox otherwise. At least it's better than gawping at the upload drop-down box which just seems to sit there leering and doing sweet nothing!!
Friday once again - sheesh three weeks until my school reunion and I have to make 240 or so magnetic bookmarks by then. I know, I know, I'll never learn to keep my big mouth shut :)

ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty .. .. gorgeous backing paper alongside your image.
240 bookmarks!! That is worse than anything on my "do list" and works out to be around 12 needed every day!!!! LOL!!!
Wonder what you will be sharing in the snippet playground this week?!?!?! Wonder if it will be a few bookmarks?1?!
Have fun.
Love Jules xx
Lovely pink card Di. And yes blogger has been very trying this week! I like Firefox best as don't like IE. Will give Chrome a try if blogger is playing up still later. I've got chrome on tablet but it doesn't like a lot of plugins that are on blogs I read.
ReplyDeleteOh Di, this is soooooo pretty. Just love those Firefly papers. The image is beautiful and love the layout.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend.
Hugs

ONG I love everything single thing about this card. That image is fabulous, the fushia is a perfect choice and the ribbon is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out the Prima papers as I love those shades.
I wear a lot of black...skirts, pants, and even tops...black, black and more black! Tops sometimes have black and white togehter...shocking I know!
When I want to throw caution to the wind I love adding in a fuchsia top...but like you said...no peachy undertone in my fuchsia!
I have been shopping for some new clothes for our trip and i am shocking the heck out of DH...I have broken my all black rules and bought some fairly bright, solid coloured tops...he may need a trip to the ER! Or sunglasses! teehee

ReplyDeleteOh DI! What are you LIKE? Still . . . not to worry . . . I have the solution to your magnetic bookmark problem . . . you know when you hand out 100 LINES for playground transgressions? Well . . . for the next couple of weeks . . . just hand out a 100 bookmarks for the transgressor to deal with. Easy!

Hello Di - sorry I haven't been by for a while but I've had a tuff few weeks. Anyway i do seem to be on the mend and your card confirmed this because the title really make me laugh out loud!!! I love purple and pink myself so am really in love with this card! I think the LOTV products are gorgeous and I love this image. Gorgeous design in total.
ReplyDeleteSorry I have been waffling.
Hugs to you Sue Pxxx
Hello Di, lovely card, perfect for everyone who believes in fairies but got to say, I'm not an all things pink person ... I like it in very small doses and preferable if it is called ashes of roses :) Interesting article in the Guardian this week in reference to book covers, gender of authors and how female readers are more likely to be attracted to a book if it is pink ... tickled me pink :)) Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card! We are having a school/year reunion in July but don't think we will be more than about 30 strong.
ReplyDeleteCarol xx
Di this card is gorgeous. I know I used the image on my first ever blog card a few weeks ago but I think the papers and colours set it off fabulously. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteLovely card, Di. I'm with you on all things (blue)pink and of course fairies have glitter on their wings!!(I will be in touch soon with an update)Hugs Dee xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic card Di. Great image and I so love those papers too, sadly I have just about used mine, I held back for ages and now they are gone. Fantastic bow and I just love your shades of pink, can't do with wishy washy shades.
ReplyDeleteBeen on Google Chrome a while now since I had problems, was going to go back but find this is fine so haven't bothered.

A card made of total pink loveliness. Like the idea of putting the nestie at an angle. Very jaunty. Hugs Mrs a.
