Well travelled

The current challenge over at Winter Wonderland is 'Travel'. It doesn't have to be a Christmas card either, but when I was taking down the last Christmas cards yesterday it struck me that Santa Claus is a very well known traveller - so I cannibalised one of the cards and made this:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock with the front totally covered in Kan Ban's 'Merry Christmas' green backing card and I worked it out so that at least 'Merry Christmas' and a single 'Ho' shows at the top above the image :)

- image from a Christmas card

- image backed with gold linen card. A little tip when layering onto card - I cut the backing mat slightly larger than needed and then stick the top layer on making sure that (say) the top and the left hand edge are the same distance from the edge of the backing card. Then just trim the excess from the bottom and the right hand edge to match. It might seem really obvious, but it took me ages to realise it was better than attempting to totally line up four sides straight off

- a snippet of narrow gold ribbon tied in a bow at the top of the tent fold

Hope you're enjoying the weekend, particularly those of you who had to trot back to work last week - relax and enjoy!

I've gotta find time to rustle up a Snippets card and will also be offering a Playground treat tomorrow :)

Great card Di and thanks for the tip...I will share this with the grandkids...It is so hard for them to center their work as I don't think Mr P understands what I mean yet. Miss C understands it but can take several trys to get it right.
I had taught them stick a wee corner and pivot, lift and try again when not quite right... but I will change this to your method...think it is so logical!

I love the way that crafters are all willing to pass on tips to others Di. :-) A real sharing, caring bunch :-)
Fab card by the way.

I know that Santa's gone into hiding for my CHNC challenge 106 but you could add this to my new monthly 'anything goes' Christmas challenge - - I'd love to see this delightful card here. x

That's lovely Di. I chopped up my Christmas cards yesterday and there were so many lovely bits and bobs which I saved for another time BUT one or two of my cards were so special I couldn't cut them up and just popped them in my Christmas box so that I can appreciate them all over again when I open my box next time!! x Jo

I can see why you wanted to keep the card, it's a lovely scene and you made a great card.

Love this Di, great image and so right to re-cycle it, like the papers and the gold ribbon.
I have actually got a couple of cards this year that I am going to re-use.

Fabulous! The Kanban background could have been designed with the image in mind! And thank you *very much* for the tip!! Why didn't I think of that??!!

Lovely card featuring that much-travelled man in the red suit :) It's nice to see someone else re-using their cards - I so enjoy giving them a second life. Love the backing and the well-placed greeting too. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

PS: great tip and one that I'm often forced to do already because I'm the world's worst at measuring the matting :))
