School practice run?

Our, much loved, youngest grand daughter will be starting school in September. So, she got to choose a school bag.

In Germany the kids do seem to go for backpacks and carry a lot of stuff to and fro. Here's Livi modelling her choice of bag:
What?!?! It's almost as big as she is - someone's gonna fall flat on her back if she overloads that :)

We did have a good giggle when her Mama sent us this photo.

So thankful for Sarn being Playground Prefect this week - bit of a blip here with the back, sigh. But my eyes and ears are in full working order :)

  5. Hi Di, At least you know she'll be prepared... kids who came to the centre I worked in with huge bags always came with plenty of spare clothes, extra food & water, a juice or two, tissues or wipes and they were all under school-age! Hope you are feeling better...Megan

  7. That's a mighty big bag for a little girl Di, but nice to know she is getting prepared

Double drat about the Playground, there were we thinking you would be totally out of the picture this week. Whatever you heard about the tree house activities is all hearsay and nothing more.

Hope the back son bucks it's ideas up and leaves you be.

  10. Oh Di that really made me smile [why not link it up over at mine today?]. It remeinded me when my girls did their D of E with their huge back packs...we took pics of them lying on their backs like dying flies at the time lol.
Really hope your back improves very soon.
    Big hugs,

  11. I think she's going to need some wheels for her bag when it's filled up. What a wonderful photo. It did make me smile.

Sorry to hear you're now having back trouble Di. Hugs, Barbxx

  12. Oh, she is so cute! :D Also in Italy the school bags are too big and heavy for the poor kids...! :(
I'm a primary teacher and I make to leave at school all the books and notebooks. The kids bring to home only what is necessary for the assignments, and the notebooks on which they have worked at school that day, to make it see to their parents. I hope that the teacher of your grand doughter will make the same thing!

  13. Hi Di, Hiccup, Hiccup.
    How super cute is she.
I bet she is excited to start school soon.
Oh I would hate her to fall over with that as she would never get back up.
That bag is almost as big as she is.LOL.
An ideal size for us playmates to stash our ill gotten gains in.LOL.
So sorry to hear the back is now playing up yet again.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  14. How cute, but oh my word what a huge bag Di! I'm sure there will be a lot of kids in years to come with back, neck and shoulder problems because of these huge heavy bags they carry about these days. Going back we had desks to keep all our books in and only took home what we needed for homework. Talking about bad backs I hope yours is soon on the mend. x

  18. Bless her, I think she needs one on the front too for balance. Also reminds me of when my daughter did D of E and the pack was bigger than her. When they lay down they couldn't get up again.
    Take care.

  19. OMG, how hard it is to be a kid today! Didn't we just carry our books in our arms? I don't even remember having a book bag of any kind! That bag looks ridiculous on her tiny little self and I agree with you ~ how is Livi not going to topple over backwards if she puts anything in it?! Maybe it is meant as a joke photo? Yes, that must be it. I hope your back is doing better soon, Di!! Hugs, Darnell xxoo

  20. Wow! That is a super large back pack! And books are so heavy. Poor kid. But thinking about the poor mite falling backwards made me giggle although it is not funny if it actually happens...
Have a great week with many smiles,
    Blessings,
    Lisca

  21. LOL! My Gds are the very same way! I worry about their backs and shoulders.....but the back packs are usually full of paper and layers of clothing they remove as the temps get warmer during the day.

  26. That backpack is huge! Out here the little ones all have a wheelie bag like a child't cabin luggage on a plane, and you can hear them all trundling home on the bricked road after lunch. The poor little things do seem to have to carry a huge amount books and papers every day.
So sorry to hear about your back. I hope it settles down again soon. Hugs (gentle ones) Kate x

  34. Hello Di,
Oh the thought of her overloading the backpack! At least it will be a cushion of sorts.
Did you injure your back? I'm sorry I haven't popped by.

  38. Hi Di, how very exciting for Livi and what a huge backpack and I'm surprised it's not pink or purple with sweet girlie pics. Bit late with my Friday Smile visits, so hope you have a super week Robyn

  39. I really hope they don't fill that! It is way too big for such a cute little one, crikey I know I couldn't pick it up if it was full. It is such a cute photo though Karen xx

  40. I have grandees in Germany and I know that they HAVE to have those bags. Livi is so little for hers and looks so sweet. The bags cost around 100 euros!!! The schools there don't provide anything so the is a lot for them to take with them. I could not believe the list my DD had to buy in advance.
