Thank you cards

Funny old day yesterday - my OH went out with his bow and arrows, just a few miles away, and got soaked. I stayed home with some sunshine for company! So, what's a gal to do when left 'Home Alone'? I made a few cards of course :)
These are a couple of the thank you cards I made and I tried to keep them pretty 'clean and simple'. The strange bit was colouring the image, as it's not meant to be precisely coloured within the lines, and that went against the grain a bit for me :)

I used:

- 6" x 6" plain white card stock
- Hero Arts Stamp - 'Garden Flowers Sketch' (I've had this for years!)
- Sentiment - Elzybells
- Pro Markers - Meadow Green, Leafy Green, Sunflower, Mandarin, Orchid, Amethyst, Carmine
- Embossing folder from the Cuttlebug 'With Love' borders set
- Backing card round the images from snippets
- Spotty ribbon from stash

I really had to eke the spotty ribbon out and only just managed :) I guess most folk will know this one but the easiest way to tie ribbon round a card spine is to tie the knot or bow at the top of the card so you can get some 'purchase' along the top edge - then just ease the ribbon round, gently bending the card if you have to.

We've been up since 3am watching a leak that has developed from the bathroom shower! Thankfully I've managed to find a plumber to come round at lunchtime, although it has put the kibosh on any other plans we had for the day. Still, at least it didn't happen while we were away on holiday:) That would have been most vexatious (ha, betcha thought I'd forgotten today's long word)!!

Love these 2 thank you cards and know exactly what you mean about the colouring! So difficult to DELIBERATELY go over the lines!

  6. Hello Di, I hope you've got the leak sorted out by now without too much damage to the house, and to the pocket. Your cards are lovely and the ribbon is gorgeous - love spotty ribbon - great tip by the way - not one everyone knows ... well, I didn't! I usually struggle to knot somewhere on the front - this tip has probably saved me endless wasted minutes :) It transpires that Alan has a nasty case of vertigo cause by some godawful virus, poor chap, so I'd better get back to my nursing station. 7. Goodness, Vexatious, now that's a good word and a leaky shower is that at any anytime I would imagine. Glad you've got it all under control now.
It's been blowing a gale here but the sun's been out so not all bad.
Love your cards, they are lovely and bright and cheerful.

  11. Lovely cards Di but lets go straight to the leak. When I hear the word leak...I think of $$$. Not only the cost of the "plumber" but it's all the other stuff too! I'm scared for you!!! Only because I've been there! Good luck!

  12. Hi my little Elfin Friend! Yup, we aren't to sure what will unfold either. So far we hope it's coming down the outside of the tiles in the shower area - but I'm waiting for the kitchen ceiling to sag and cave in at any time if it's between the walls! No signs yet but I hate any water leakage. Thanks for cheering me up :)) Di xx

  13. Hi Di

I know what you mean about colouring inside lines .. .. I am just the same .. .. but in reality I don't even think people realise that we sit and colour our images ourselves.

I have one friend who buys loads of cards from me and she thought the stamp just stamped it with all the colour in place!! Would that be magic or not?!?!?? Not I think!!

    Eeekkk!! about the water leak!!

    Love Jules xx

  14. Very pretty cards - love 'em. They really appeal to me...but not the leak. Hope it's all sealed now.

I know what you mean about colouring outside the lines, and one way that works for me is to take the colour up and to one side as though it is a cast shadow.

Nice to have a day to oneself.
    Take care,
    Ros.

  15. Belated Happy Birthday! Sounded like you had a very full day...and no champagne :( but as long as you enjoyed it, that's all that counts

Love these cards. I Like the embossing along the edge that co-ordinates with the stamped flowers. Just lovely.
