Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 237

Well, we've at least had a drier and sunnier week in the Playground! About time too I say. Let's dive right in shall we - here's my snippets card for this week:
I used:

- 4.75" x 4.75" white square card blank

- Penny Black 'Guess?' stamp, stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and coloured using Pro markers

- snippet of mustardy yellow card, die cut using a Die-Versions Corner Concepts 'Happy Birthday' die

- trimmed the image panel and then added the die cut sentiment to the top left corner

- used a snippet of card (looks a bit like paint chips to me!) found in the back of an Echo Park 'Hello Summer' paper pad - just as a strip across the bottom of the card to pick up the yellow as well as the red bow on the parcel

- glued the strip of coloured card in place then added the image panel above

I've had the corner die for absolutely ages and finally got round to using it - and love it! Many thanks to Janice for helping me to find a supplier - around Christmas last year! Of course it will fit the right hand side too with the Happy along the top and the Birthday down the side. It just depends on the size/shape of the image really.

Now for this week's peek at the picks:

This is such a clever way to use the Tim Holtz 'Crazy Birds', brought to share with us by Andrea (KandA). I love the sweet little ladybird and what a brilliant idea to add the word 'dad' in white die cut letters - very elegant touch I think.

Jane J has such a lovely set of photos behind the story to this wonderful layout! Time spent with her darling little grand daughter Daisy has been so beautifully captured in this lovely work of art.

A few of you have been busy making wonderful cards for children to give to their teachers at the end of term - these are by Mary Anne. Love the worms :)

And these ones were made by Kathleen. Each one is personalised with the teacher's name - lovely touch!

I really love this nautical themed card, made by Liz. Like all our entries, great use of snippets of course. It's a bit like peeking out of a porthole :)

I chose this card, made by Elly partly as the wonderful colours are so striking and also because it's such a pretty and happy design. Love how the 3-D flowers stand out so well!

And one final pick, this brilliant card made by Kitty. Right now there are quite a lot of Summer scene cards appearing and this one is so cute!

We had one new Playmate this week:
Maryvonne joined us from France with this fabulous 'walk on the wild side' pocket card - loads of lovely detail (both inside and outside) and that tiger sure looks like it's heading out of the jungle. Do come and play with us again Maryvonne!

I had to do this week's picks at a bit of a gallop due to trying to keep time spent sitting at the desk to a minimum. Hope you understand. I need to be fighting fit (or at least mobile) in a week's time when Darnell hits these shores and has her first 'pit stop' in Southampton! :)

It's prize draw time, for the pack of felt samples, kindly donated by Tara of Seven Hills Crafts, the set of Joy! daisy dies plus a packet of small brads in assorted colours.

The winner is:
ValeryAnne

I have your address and will post the package off to you this week!

Here's this coming week's prize:
Of course, it's a Penny Black 'Guess?' stamp and a Die-Versions Corner Concepts 'Happy Birthday die, the same as the ones I used on my snippets card above.

The Snippets Challenge will run for one week and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 16th July. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

A maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. If you only want to play for one or other of the items making up this week's prize, just say so in your comment and if you win then I'll do a further draw for the other item. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)

Di and, of course, Parsnip

I have just realised that although I said I was entering this weeks card first thing this morning , that I haven't done. My excuse is that I have been up half the night was I was stung by a wasp and my foot has swollen and itched and hurts like mad, I am allergic to ant bites and it looks like I am allergic to wasp stings too, the horrid thing didn't live for one second after it stung me.
Right off to get my entry in and please enter me into the draw for the lovely prise this week.
Hope you have a better week this week.
