There are 16 different numbers to draw for the prizes, and as I said earlier this week I'll do the draw on Sunday (today) and post the results on Monday. It's going to take a little while to do and this time round you'll have to take my word for the Mr Random results. In order to show just one actual gizmo result on here I have to do a screen shot, copy that into the clip board, then drop it into a piece of software (I use GIMP) edit the image to pick out just the result box before copying it into the blog post. Times 16 would take me far too long as am sure you'll understand!
It's a really quick snippets card from me today:
I used:
- 6" x 4" white card blank
- a snippet of Neenah 'Desert Storm' card, trimmed just slightly smaller than the card front and glued to the card front
- diagonally striped coffee shades paper from the snippets folder, trimmed slightly smaller than the 'Desert Storm' card and glued in place
- LOTV pre-coloured image, trimmed slightly and mounted onto a slightly larger backing of Neenah 'Desert Storm' then glued onto the card front
- sentiment is LOTV from their 'General Greetings - small' set, stamped onto a snippet of white card using Memento 'Toffee Crunch' ink
- then just trimmed the sentiment and popped it onto layers of snippets of 'Desert Storm' card and a tiny piece of coffee striped paper I found in the snippets folder
So let's move straight onto the picks - and as a couple of you rightly remarked, it was a really tough job choosing from 146 entries! But here goes anyhow:
I immediately fell in love with this money wallet - made by Jane J. So much beautiful detail - plus Jane made the background paper herself. Do go and see how - it's now on my endless 'to-do list'.
Alice brought this amazing exploding box to share - squeals of delight here - it opens to reveal a piano! Loads more lovely piccies to see over at Alice's blog too.
I really fell for this 'Christmas parcel' card - made by Jenny H. What impact and it's certainly on my 'to-do' list as well!
I think this is another idea that some of you might want to keep in mind for next Christmas. Carole made these brilliant 'half cracker' place markers for her Christmas table - and, yes, there is something inside too!
Would you believe it, the next picks on my list of possibles were also made by Jane J and Jenny H - rather than show them here I do suggest you have a longer nose round if you visit to see the above makes :)
Love this card, made by Lynne in NI. Such gorgeous colouring by Lynne as always and the matching of the image to the papers is spot on - plus lots of pretty snippets used too :)
It's so good to see Cornelia card making and blogging again after the very worrying retina issues. And just look what a fun card she brought along to share! Did make me giggle :)
Kath brought this lovely card to share - it's ages since I did any iris folding and it's certainly a great way to use up snippets. I find it very therapeutic and if you want to have a first try then just Google 'free templates for iris folding' and quite a few will pop up.
Shaker cards have made a really big comeback in recent months, and this one by Pat is absolutely beautiful! And, not only is the card amazing altogether, I just love how Pat carefully coloured the embossed background - using a dry wet wipe to achieve the delicate finish. Brilliant!
We had a few window cards this time round, every one was worthy of being shown here - but in the end I picked this card by Diane H. I love the depth with the lovely drifts of snow and branches in the background with the lovely sparkly snowflakes.
I do love this cute card, made by Julie C. What strikes me is just how cheerful it is (using one of my fave Lawn Fawn stamps sets called 'Hello Sunshine') and also what a great use of lots of little snippets for the bunting! It works so well.
I just love all the detail in this wonderful card, made by Viv. When you read Viv's blog post you'll realise just how much thought and patience went into this card - what really is the icing on the cake for me is the movie stars lips - coloured red for a pop of colour. It's a little details like that which just make a card stand out from the crowd (IMHO anyhow!).
So, there you have my own picks - I bet you also have your own favourites which I haven't shown. Not least your own beautiful creations. Thank you all so much for all the work you put into making cards and such for the Playground!
And we had two new Playmates come and join us this past fortnight:
Donna T was lucky enough to be given some Brushos for Christmas - and this is one of her very first plays using them. I know, stunned me - so beautiful and so very much like Indonesian batik.
Liv (aka Swissie) is also a member of the Cuttlebug DT and she joined us to play along!
As I said earlier, the prize draw results will appear on Monday - but in the meantime - this is the prize for this coming week:
Picture quality is a bit grim, as I'm writing this on Saturday it's very dull and raining - but with a light on to take the photo I was getting bounce back. At least this photo shows you the lovely detail of the die set.
It's a Creative Expressions Sue Wilson 2 die set called 'Italian Collection - Calabria'. The larger of the two dies measures 6" at the widest point, so it will fit a Cuttlebug.
And the lovely Viv has donated it to the Playground toy box - yay!
The Snippets Challenge will run for one week and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 9th January. The gates will open again at
midnight UK time on the same day.
Maximum of three entries and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Too funny, I accidentally hit publish ahead of time at 3pm on Saturday as I was doing a final check of this post. Bet that got some of you going - tee, hee :) It was only 'live' for seconds before I retrieved it - sorry for the false alarm if you did see it pop up on your dashboard though.
Have a good week!
Di and of course, Parsnip!

Just playing for fun this week thanks.
Hope you have a fabulous week.
Love Eve xx
Such great picks as always. That iris folding card just floors me with that aperture. I do love me some IF! I confess that don't usually consider a quarter sheet of designer paper a snippet but when it mysteriously shows up on my desk then it must be a snippet! Plus the other bits were leftovers including the dotted ribbon. I want to play AND be considered for a prize this time because I'm greedy like that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is your card Di as always and another gorgeous array of picks sending lots of love xx
ReplyDeletePretty card, Di... and gorgeous colours. X
ReplyDeletePLAYING FOR FUN again this week... if I manage to get a 'make' in!
Bye for now. x

Thank you so much for highlighting my card especially with all those wonderful entries and thank you for all the extra special prizes on offer too. I'm sorry I am a bit late with my comment but I have been away for a few days over new year and was not able to keep up with everything as easily. Your card with the LOTV image is so sweet and the striped papers go with it beautifully too. Thank you to Viv for donating the really pretty Sue Wilson die as this week's prize and if I get an entry in I am a definite 'yes please'. x
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing picks and more ideas and inspiration for 2016. Love your card too Miss Di - those LOTV toppers are so useful and I'm beggining to prefer them to the stamps.

Lots of beautiful cards! I was pretty lucky to have lots of family time with the kids this Christmas which left no crafty time. I'm back at it this week and would love to have a chance at the prize this week. I can't wait to see what everyone is creating!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing the wonderful cards in your picks every week, and am so grateful for your fun comments on my Flickr page. One of these days I'll take the step and start a blog but for now I'm happy with seeing a word or two on my posts!
