Curiouser and curiouser!

Well, the Blogger Followers plot possibly thickens! I bet a few of you have noticed a drop in your followers, over the past few days in particular. I don't keep a close watch on my follower numbers but did suddenly realise there's been a drop this morning. At the same time, the penny dropped that I seemed to be missing a few new posts by bloggers who I follow. One in particular was SaRn - and I've been an avid follower of my special mate (aka the Playground Hooch Queen) for years and years.

So, I hopped over to Sarn's and clicked on the 'add me as a follower' button and it then asked for my Google log-in ID (I've always used a Google ID right from the start) and, when I entered that, I showed up as following Sarn. Now, I'm not too sure if I was still actually a follower just hidden back in the numbers - I should have checked that out first. I did this with a few other blogs during the day but didn't think to check if I was a follower still before adding myself - if that makes sense!

But, later on, a different blog that I'm convinced I was also following wasn't showing up on my dashboard so I went to re-add myself as a follower and it took me through the route to become a new follower - ending with the message 'you are now following X'. So that was a different result - which just muddied the waters all the more.

So, was I still following Sarn and those others in any case or not? All I can do is to watch a selection of blogs very closely over the coming days. I suspect that I've been whining to myself about being knocked off some follower lists by blogger when I was there all along. But, then this last instance popped up which threw me!

All I can say is, if you think I've disappeared from your followers please let me know and I'll add myself back in. But I thought this shouldn't happen if you used a Google account in any case? Don'tcha just love Blogger?! :(

  1. Yep, the same thing happened to me today. At one time I was nearing 450 followers, but several weeks ago it fell by a few numbers. Yesterday the count was 439, and while I was online today, it kept falling quickly down to 419. I think Google is pressing the panic button a little too often now and it's frustrating! I haven't noticed if I've lost any blogs I follow yet, but in due time I'm certain I'll know one way or the other!

    1. I lost even more followers overnight and I'm down to 408 followers this morning. This is getting insane.

  2. I've noticed a drop, but I don't know if you follow me or not Di, or even if you do now (if that makes sense), I don't really know where to find that info? Have a lovely day! Hazel xx

  3. Yep, same thing here and it's driving me nuts too. I lost several a couple of weeks ago and then 12 last night. Who knows what's going on - or if I'm even signed in correctly on anything anymore. Confusing to say the least - but, we'll just keep plodding along and see what happens next - and I'm sure something will!

  4. Between the above and blogger making us, some of us, use a stupid picture of guess the the matching ones and it won't let you publish your comment until you are correct. I have over 60 + a day and this drives me completely nuts...

  5. I have only seen just a couple fall off my follower board...so far...just keeping my fingers crossed for now.

  6. I signed in on your blog & up I came. I actually follow blogs using Feedly, not my blogger dashboard. Maybe everyone will have to do that if blogger won't work right anymore. Of course, I don't use followers as part of a business & I know some do.

  7. Interesting! Now I don't know if I've been dropped from anyone's blog or not. Will have to start checking if I think of it. I don't watch my followers to well, ok, I don't watch it at all, but it looks like all mine are there still. This is all driving me nuts too as I just don't pay attention to things very well and then when something is amist I'm the last to realize dang it! lol Well on another note, I was already crazy so I guess I can't get to much worse with blogger. 8. I'm soooo glad I use Bloglovin for following blogs, rather than Blogger - I always found Blogger to be erratic and it's got a million times worse recently! Even ones that don't have a bloglovin button can be followed that way, it's clear and simple and ALL the posts show!

  9. And what's more, blooming Google had unfollowed me from your blog! Even though I don't read blogs through GFC, I still follow them as a matter of courtesy, because I know those are the figures most people count. So I've refollowed and I'll have to check that on all the blogs I follow now

  10. Yes Di I noticed in the last 2 days that I have lost 5 followers....your blog still came up in my reader. Thanks for warning me re the unfollowing fiasco I will keep an eye on my reader to see if I have been kicked off any blogs. It's such a pain isn't it. Blogger does like to fiddle and try to fix things that in my humble opinion don't need fixing! Xx

  11. Morning Di,

Yes I think there is more going on than we originally realised and thought that's what you were referring to yesterday. Down another 40 overnight and at Allsorts we lost 905 overnight, not that's just plain stupid as I really can't believe there were than many on non Good ID's.

And in hindsight I think I may well have been removed as a follower on some blogs, yet like you I have always used a Google ID. More worrying is that one doesn't always realise someone has not appeared on your dashboard until you perhaps see their name on another blog and it gets you thinking "haven't seen a post from them recently".

And then there is this stupid robotic issue, some seem to be plagues by it, I know Annie and I are, yet some don't have that problem. When it occurred a year or so back it was easy to bypass it, not that's impossible.

    Rant over,

    B x

  12. I've lost a few and also noticed that sometimes the blogs aren't moving to the top of the list when a new post is put up - only spotted that by chance when I went onto a blog to check something and realised I'd missed a couple of posts. No idea if I've been 'removed' from any blogs.

  13. I'm so glad you took the time to stop by and let me know what was happening. I'd started to think it was me and I was offending people. I think a lot of people thought the same thing, certainly some of my followers did. I haven't had any commenting problems yet and hopefully I'll be spared that. I'll keep an eye on the blogs I follow. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. Like you I follow with Google ID and it happened with Darnell's blog ages (maybe a year or more) ago and had to refollow, also from your blog a while ago and they were the obvious blogs, so like you I'm not sure if I've been unfollowed from any others.

I've just made a folder and bookmarked the blogs I follow in my browser so at least now I can check against my reading list if I think any have been unfollowed.

My followers are steady at 113 plus a couple I blocked (not real followers but advertisers that look a bit dodgy)

Well I suppose the only thing we can do is just wait and see xx

  16. I find it all a bit difficult to understand anyway but have noticed that when I go to comment there are often posts I've not been shown on my blogger and I certainly try to get round regularly. I just seem to have lost one.

  17. Well thank goodness you picked me back up again after dropping me! Careful, I'm fragile you know!

All joking aside, you haven't popped up as a NEW follower (i.e. your little icon is some way back in my follower pictures), so goodness only knows what's happening.

My own follower numbers are going up and down like a tart's drawers! Oo-er Missus!

K serrah serrah . . . whatever will be, will be . . . . the future's not ours to see and Mr Blogger doesn't care! xxx

  18. I forgot to thank you for your explanation about why I am loosing "Followers" in my Google blog. I found your helpful information in Google Help Forum. The very least I could do is give you another follower. Thanks again!!! XXX

  19. I personally am re-re-re-re-following you to the point of stalking! I wonder if I'll stick this time? Anyway, I'm showing up with a different thumbnail photo than I am with other blogs. That is either a good sign or not.

  20. OR..... do you think Sarn is just kicking both of us out? Could be you know! Now re-following her too!

  21. I've noticed my follower numbers have been consistent, but that said, I've not checked there today. I'll recheck here now. I might not be crafting that much, but you're stuck with me, despite Google posibly trying to boot me LOL

  22. You are still showing on mine, Di, although I did have to log back into Google on here. Gah

  23. Hi Di, it's a pain and if I had the energy I'd rant about it. I've just followed yours and Sarn's blogs again! I've no idea whether you've been knocked off my follower list or not but I have noticed the number has dropped overnight. Wonder what tomorrow will bring!!! Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  24. Yep I have lost 5 on one day and 5 on another and then google unfollowed me from 8 blogs overnight when I was having 40 winks. I thought we wos gonner have trouble with this so I took a screen dump of my followers and a screen dump of who I was following and checking it on a daily basis. Been trying to get to 350 followers to do a blog candy and wos nerly there and now back down to 320 and falling quicker than the weather. All those of us who do blog candy for really certain follower goals could find ourselves back at the same goal posts. Bet blogger didn't think of that did they!!!! But then do they care.
    Hugs Me.

  25. I lost a few followers yesterday too. I didn't realise that I might be unfollowing some of my favourite blogs too now. Will have to check this out and refollow them. xx

  26. Yes I lost several and more today, but it is a google thing, they announced that you had to have a google account now to be a follower, I read all about it on Darnell's blog....annoying to say the least!
