Punching session

A couple of weeks ago I had a punching session (not the fists kind!) with a Martha Stewart Deep Edge punch. This was to let a dear blogging friend know how well it punched on different paper and card. The results were all good, although to be honest the intricacy of the punch wasn't 100% on thin paper but that was possibly operator error. One of the toughest challenges, so I thought, would be thick pearlescent card - but it worked like a dream. Then, on Saturday I was sifting through stuff on my desk and came across the pearlescent card 'sample' which was usefully punched along one edge of an A6 card and this was the final result after a quick play:

I used:

- A6 'mink' coloured pearlescent card with the edge punched using Martha Stewart's 'Floral Vine Deep Edger' punch - one of the very first MS punches I ever bought, and still probably my favourite

- snippet of pink pearlescent card, cut to fit exactly behind the card front with just a smidgen less at the top to allow the card to still fold properly

- little strip of pink ribbon, fixed in place to the front of the card by using ultra strong DST on the back - this would be hidden by the piece of pink card

- I then used removable tape runner to fix the pink card exactly where I wanted it lined up on the opposite side inside the mink card and used more ultra strong DST so that when I closed the card and pressed firmly it would sit perfectly in place. Then I just had to carefully open the card and rub off the removable tape runner glue from the back of the pink card with a finger by gently rubbing

- a hand made pink rose along with a matching pink 'shrink plastic' butterfly were fixed in place using Glossy Accents

- finally, a sentiment by Craftwork Cards was added to finish off

A really super-fast card, made in minutes.

  1. Very delicately beautiful card. I really like this MS punch, and it is just _the_ perfect one for this color combo. Lucky you on having the pretty rose & butterfly to add with your ribbon as a final touch. This looks quite 'vintage' - as in an old fashioned boudoir???Whatever, it's gorgeous. TFS & Hugs

  8. Oh Miss Miss! I have that punch too! Works like a dream and I love it. You may remember I used it on my C album. Thin paper is often a pain in those punches - not you. Sometimes I pop some typing paper in behind to get a better cut!

  10. Beautiful card! I love pink and chocolate together. The flower and butterfly are gorgeous - such a pretty card Di. I've had the same issue with my MS punches - great on pearl card but useless on anything that is too thin or a bit fibrous - it's not you it's the punches! Karen x

I am borrowing a computer late at night after my cousin is asleep so don't want to download pictures etc. Will do all that once home again.
