Mint is the colour for today!

This is the latest card I made, I wanted the colour mint to be the focal point of a fresh and quite clean looking card, and it IS soft shades of mint not turquoise (camera lies yet again):
I used:

- 4" x 6" white linen card blank (these date back to my really early card making days)

- first of all stamped four butterflies using Memento 'London Fog' ink and all four stamps from the Inkylicious 'Flutters 2' set onto a snippet of white card stock

- then selected three shades of mint from my Pro markers and coloured the butterflies in before fussy cutting round them

- hunted for suitable papers to match the butterfly colours - would normally do this the other way round but wanted to be sure the butterflies were a true mint green and was prepared to compromise if I couldn't find any mint papers to match

- success though, the background papers are from a Kaisercraft paper pad called 'Blue Bay' - and a lot of the papers are mint green rather than blue or turquoise, yay! I cut a piece of the distressed looking beige paperfrom the pad and added just a margin of mint from one of the papers which is actually a design of planks of weather worn wood

- taped the edge of the beige paper to overlap the margin of mint and only then did I trim the paper top and bottom - that way you aren't trying to avoid one piece being a sliver too big or small

- the pad also includes sentiments and I chose a round one - love the words!

- then it was just a matter of gluing everything on place

A quick and easy card - love the paper pad I used. Interestingly it's six and a half inches by six and a half inches in size rather than the usual six by six.

A lifesaver was my latest toy, the Misti stamp positioner - which I'd dithered over for absolutely ages. Bought it from Dies to Die for last week and was really lucky as Tracey had just had a new shipment, the next shipment isn't due until May. Sure, it's going to be great for batch baking cards as I tend to do a fair bit of that - but, the real bonus I think is being able to re-ink and stamp so precisely over a poorly stamped image. Love it!

  1. Whatever color your camera lied about, it surely is a lovely soft shade, and I do like it. Can imagine it IRL as being a pretty mint! Love the delicate butterflies, and such great paper. Like the asymmetrical layout you've done, and can't be sure from the picture, if you did an embossed lace edging at the right, or if this is the pattern in the paper. Great job. TFS & Hugs

  8. Beautiful card, love those background papers you've used. Interesting about the size of the paper pad, I wonder what the logic was behind that? Glad you're enjoying the misti, it's on my wish list for when I win the lottery! Cara x

  15. A very pretty card Di, and I LOVE the colour (I made my own stamp positioners, in two sizes out of two picture frames & two pieces of acrylic and some hinges), but I love them too and like you, find it a boon when having to restamp images that haven't stamped fully! Have a lovely day1 Hazel xx

Congrats for your new toy! Misti is in my wishlist, too... But I want to try making one similar DIY, it's so expensive...

  17. So pretty. Your coloring is wonderful.
The more I hear about MISTI, the more I think I need one, and I am not one who buys every product that hits the market. (I agree with poster above, I wonder if there is a way to make a DIY version.)

    1. I think Hazel above made her own version. And the Misti was originally a DIY idea I think!

  18. This is so pretty with those soft aqua colors, and thanks for the kudos to the Misti - I'm still on the fence weighing whether or not I'll use it often enough to justify the expense!

  19. WOW ... this is really beautiful Di! What a fantastic sentiment and it pairs perfectly with your gorgeous butterflies. Misti ... it's the best tool I bought last year. So worth the money. I don't know how many times I have made a card, only to ruin it with a partially stamped sentiment ... well, no more. :) xx

  23. Just for once I'm ahead of the game as I bought my Misti back in October last yr. Did you know they have brought out a mini misti now! just saying. I digress from matters in hand though as this card is a delight to look at. Love the butterflies. Just checked my butterfly drawer and I have those too as well as flutters 1. (Gosh I'm on a roll here). Bootiful mint colourings. thankyoy for fluttering by and you get two goes in the draw. Hugs Mrs A.

  24. I'm with you on the MISTI, Di! I just finally got the mini MISTI & I do love getting the strength of color I want no matter what stamp or ink I use. Stunningly beautiful card & I love the sentiment!

  25. Beautiful card, Di, love the delicate colours and such an elegant design. I keep hearing about the MISTI, I think I need to look into it a bit more to see if I 'need' one. The cost always put me off, so I've never really found out exactly what they do. xx

  26. This is so pretty and fresh for spring, Di! I love that beautiful sediment inside a circle! It's great that you were able to get a MISTI! I had to give mine away to a local friend because the magnets weren't safe for my defibrillator/pacemaker. It's a shame, but it didn't work as well without them to hold the paper in place. I blurred too many images before I gave up, lol! I hope you're doing well! Hugs, Darnell
