.............then wear it. I can't see me tottering round in a pair of shoes like this, although there was such a time when the higher the heels the more you felt you could stand up for yourself in the office :) It's another card made for a friend's Birthday next month so the New Year resolution to stay ahead of the game is still in my mind - so far!
I used:
- 6" x 6" square black card blank
- butterfly backing paper from First Edition's 'Noir et Chic' paper pad
- plain black and cream card
- all stamps are from SU's 'Fabulous You' set, stamped in Memento 'Tuxedo Black'
- the shoe was going to be left plain but my 'in-house critic' thought the card looked too sombre, so I coloured the shoe and butterflies with Whispers pens - with heart in mouth as the card was all finished by then! Then I added some black gems to add a bit of dimension to the shoe and the butterflies
- the sentiment was popped onto a black die cut, I used a Spellbinders Fancy Tag 2 die
The layout (ie. putting the shoe into a triangle) is similar to one I found on the internet - but of course now I can't find it again to give credit where it's due :(
I thought the shoe looked OK without any colouring and am absolutely certain it would look divine stamped in other colours or embossed in gold or silver, maybe on a Wedding card.
More food for thought!

Di, this is so pretty and I love that sentiment and the triangle! Great design on that. The shoe......beautiful!!! So pretty colored up like that. That's one thing nice about being retired now.....I got to "hang up the high heels"! Don't miss a single thing about them either! LOL!

Butterflies and high heels - now what could be more girly? This turned out so nice! I've always hated high heels and could never walk in them! I'm a sneakers & jeans kind of girl :)
ReplyDeleteThat shoe is absolutely gorgeous! Can only wear it in my dreams, however--LOL! What a fabulous card for your friend, Di!
ReplyDeleteFab card...love the shoe and the fab paper, reminds me of my days in the banking world...power dressing and all that!! Jodhpur boots are more my style these days!! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shoe but no way could I walk in them nowadays!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card Di. Stylish image and a great sentiment. I'm sure your friend will LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Love the card, especially the shoe stamp. I think the colour on the shoe is just the right amount. I never did wear the high heels - maybe because I never was an office worker Working with pre-schoolers, flat and comfy is the order of the day. nd wider than average feet, seriously limited your choices back then! Well done on staying ahead of the game. Kate x
ReplyDeleteFound you no bother this morning..........how silly am I?? NO! don`t answer that one.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card I love that shoe just my style, a great sentiment and design
Have a Great Day

Great card Di - I don't think I ever staggered about in shoes like that - my youth was spent in chunky heels with platform soles! I even fell off a pair in a shoe shop once!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteFab stamps Di - and as for the shoe... I bought a pair of {HIGH} heels for a very posh dinner dance - spent a lot of the night terrified to have a wee sip of the vino in case I fell off them when I stood up.... in the end grabbed the bottle and kicked off the shoes..... it seemed the best choice...................
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast between the coloured shoe and the black and white on the other diamond, very stylish.
ReplyDeleteGorgeously stylish card, lovely pretty shoe and butterflies. I can only watch in awe as my granddaughter and her friends strut about in their high heels.

Hi Di, As always your card is another stunner and your friend will absolutely love it the show and butterflies are so adorable and the backing with the butterflies is perfect enjoy your weekend x
ReplyDeleteI think the in-house critic was spot on with this one. I think it needed that color. I love that you added a couple of colored butterflies on the piece with the shoe. It helps carry over the butterflies from the printed page and moves you from black and white to COLOR! Woot! Good job with your resolution!!! I've hit a critical point... absolutely must get a card out in the mail tomorrow. It hasn't been made yet. EEK!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Di - haven't been by for ages so I do hope you are OK! Your card has just popped up on the Bloglovin email I get and I just want a pair of those shoooooooos! I think they are just gorgeous, and so is your card.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Sue Pxxx
Gorgeous card Di, love the choice of colours and that shoe is to die for :) And I say it every time, but if only I could still wear shoes with heels that high! Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteWow Di this is gorgeous, I can remember dancing the night away in four inch heels, now I'm lucky if I can walk some days LOL oh to be fit again have a great weekend huggles Sue xxx
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, love the layout and the way the shoes really stands out with the lovely bright colours against the black and white.

Love your triangle layout (Stacy Stamps does this a lot...not sure if that's where you saw it.) I think your beautiful B&W would have been perfect, but I must say that I like the pops of color on that sparkling shoe. I can just see the wearer putting it with her little black dress for after-hours fun. It just looks 'young & energetic' with the electric colors. Kudoes for Mr. L. Now you can do the sparkly gold & silver too! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteThis card is so appropriate for so many reasons. Still got the high heels for starters. Brilliant idea by the inhouse critic to suggest colouring the shoe. 1 brownie point coming up! Or should I be saying boy scout point!! Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteThe shoes look fabulous! How scary to colour them after the card was done - but you came up trumps! :)

I'm not sure what I want the most - the shoes or the stamps lol! Fabulous colouring too - they really pop and I love it! Yep definitely the stamps as I can't wear that type of shoes these days xx
ReplyDeleteLoving the shoe! And the sentiment is just brill! Hugs Juls
ReplyDeleteA lovely shoe stamp Di, and I love the colouring. The black and white butterfly dp goes beautifully too. x
