Winter weather

The theme this week over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge is 'Winter Weather'. Recently, howling gales and torrential rain would have been appropriate, but I opted to upcycle a Christmas card with this snowy scene instead :)

I used:

- A6 white card blank

- image die cut from a Christmas card using an oval Nesties die, popped onto a slightly larger hand cut oval of pearly dark blue card

- backing card in a pale blue snowflakes design, mounted onto another piece of the pearly dark blue card

- sentiment is an Elzybells one, stamped using Memento 'Espresso Truffle'

- a snippet of fringed twine, which came free with an online order a while ago

Am also entering this card into Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for January, where it's always 'anything goes'.

Sigh, I did stick the oval onto the blue backing a little bit 'wonky' but not as badly as it looks in the photo :(

Funny, I'd have thought this card would be super fast to make, which in a way it was - but it took me ages to plan the thing!

Great Upcycled card. It is very peaceful looking!

Hope your waether has calmed down somewhat...I think it has come over to our area...as it has howled and poured with rain the last couple of nights! Good crafting weather though.

Great upcycling Di-That is such a lovely image to have re used :)
It has certainly not been a very traditional winter weather wise this year at all has it?I suppose if we were knee deep in snow none of us would be happy bunnies either-roll on Spring I say!
Have a good day,

Snow is much more picturesque than wind and rain isn't it?! A good bit of recycling Di, and a very well hand-cut oval! Kate x

Great up-cycling! These days I find it harder to work with a printed image than I do with an image which I've stamped and coloured myself.
That is a complete turnaround to what I was making five years ago -lots of printed toppers and card from Kanban lol! Going back to the stamping well that was how I started! xx

Such a serene card! I love the use of fibers in lieu of ribbon. I used to be such a fiber addict. I have quite the stash. Isn't it funny how sometimes the cards you think will come together quickly just don't once and awhile? Always keeps ya on your toes!

What a majestic deer! I'm going to be singing Let it Snow now! I would prefer it to this cold rain!

Hello Di,

Perhaps I'm always tilting my head because I don't see where anything is NOT straight......

Nice upcycling of a card. I'm saving mine in the hopes of doing the same thing - but maybe I should do it now?!?

Hugs,
Kay

Gorgeous upcycled card, Di! I really wish we could have a bit of the white stuff so I can miss work for a day of playing, lol! Love that stag - so majestic. Thanks for your lovely comment about my pendant xxx

Gorgeous card, Di. The wintry scene looks so cold - perfect for Hazel's challenge. I love the fringed fibre - a really nice freebie. And I have to admit that as often as not it's the planning that takes the time for me too :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx

It's just lovely. Had to re-read to discover it was a recycle. Thought you'd colored it. Your oval looked fine to me (but then you know my placement is not always spot on when I do the photo..must be me eyes!). I love the picture and your dp was so pretty with this snowy scene. TFS
