I made this card with a heavy heart recently, after the passing of a really wonderful 93 year-old lady who was a much loved Mum, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. One of life's treasures who will be sadly missed, we didn't knew 'Nanny' very well but she was absolutely delightful and as bright as a button. RIP.
I knew I had some lovely Memory Box die cuts (using the 'Chloe Stem' and sent to me a good while ago by a very special crafting buddy). And I'd also seen a really memorable card made by Lynne of Cards from Lynne's Loft almost a year ago which had stuck in my mind. Hope you don't mind me CASEing your beautiful card Lynne!
I used:
- 6" x 6" square white card blank
- white Centura card and papers from the 'Sweet Afternoon' pad by Teresa Collins - sent to me a while ago by another lovely blogging buddy
- a single white Chloe die cut stem
- turquoise bakers twine, wrapped round the 'topper' and tied with a bow
- pale turquoise pearls, in varying sizes, on the flower head
- sentiment by SU from the 'Sincere Salutations' set, stamped in SU's 'Baja Breeze'

Hi Di,
ReplyDeletesuch a very beautiful card for such a sad occasion.
As you say another very lovely lady gone, but hopefully her family will have many treasured memories to remember, as I have with my parents who are now no longer with us.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Oh what a sad start to your post today Di - but what a gorgeous card you have made for the family to keep in memory of her. This is beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI was busy making some cards on Sunday and Mr Hettie came in and asked if I had any sympathy cards so had to make one. He then asked me last night if I had another. What is going on?

What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful woman! It's a shame someone so precious has left the earth, but your card is just beautiful! I love the pearl accents!
ReplyDeleteAs for the money behind the bike sheds, I think Darnell is shaking me down for my lunch money?! Who knew she was that hungry?
Beautiful card, absolutely perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sorting out the problem, I am hopeless on the computer. It amazes me that I ever managed to get my blog up and running.........LOL!!
Have a great day

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card but unfortunately for a sad occasion. I just recently bought this die and haven't used it yet, so thanks for the inspiration! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt is a soft and beautiful card. My heart goes out to Nanny friends and family.
ReplyDeleteStunning card Di although made for a sad occasion lots of huggles Sue xx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card which is so elegant, love the die x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Di. Love the cas design - it looks so elegant. I've got that die but usually use it tucked behind something else - must give this a go xx
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful. Perfect for the sad occasion for which you need it. It's hard to lose old friends, as we lose so many memories that can not be recaptured. Our oldsters had such a wealth of memory treasures of a time long gone. I love to hear an older person talk about the olden days. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Making a card for such a sad reason has got to be the most difficult. I like the touch of pearls on the flower - lovely. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteI find sympathy cards very difficult to make, but this is beautiful. That is a lovely die-cut and big enough to stand on its own. The pearls are a very nice finishing touch. It is always sad to read about the death of someone special, but I am sure the family will appreciate your card. Kate x
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you knew Nanny and enjoyed her as a blessing in your life, Di. Your sympathy card is a beautiful CASE of Lynne's card! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card for a sad occasion!
ReplyDeleteHaving 93 years to leave a mark on this world is amazing though.
That die is so gorgeous. I just bought it the other day and now want to try it with pearls!
