If the shoes fits

.............then wear it. I can't see me tottering round in a pair of shoes like this, although there was such a time when the higher the heels the more you felt you could stand up for yourself in the office :) It's another card made for a friend's Birthday next month so the New Year resolution to stay ahead of the game is still in my mind - so far!

I used:

- 6" x 6" square black card blank

- butterfly backing paper from First Edition's 'Noir et Chic' paper pad

- plain black and cream card

- all stamps are from SU's 'Fabulous You' set, stamped in Memento 'Tuxedo Black'

- the shoe was going to be left plain but my 'in-house critic' thought the card looked too sombre, so I coloured the shoe and butterflies with Whispers pens - with heart in mouth as the card was all finished by then! Then I added some black gems to add a bit of dimension to the shoe and the butterflies

- the sentiment was popped onto a black die cut, I used a Spellbinders Fancy Tag 2 die

The layout (ie. putting the shoe into a triangle) is similar to one I found on the internet - but of course now I can't find it again to give credit where it's due :(

I thought the shoe looked OK without any colouring and am absolutely certain it would look divine stamped in other colours or embossed in gold or silver, maybe on a Wedding card.

More food for thought!

  2. Butterflies and high heels - now what could be more girly? This turned out so nice! I've always hated high heels and could never walk in them! I'm a sneakers & jeans kind of girl :)

  7. Love the card, especially the shoe stamp. I think the colour on the shoe is just the right amount. I never did wear the high heels - maybe because I never was an office worker Working with pre-schoolers, flat and comfy is the order of the day. nd wider than average feet, seriously limited your choices back then! Well done on staying ahead of the game. Kate x

  9. Great card Di - I don't think I ever staggered about in shoes like that - my youth was spent in chunky heels with platform soles! I even fell off a pair in a shoe shop once!! x Jo

  10. Fab stamps Di - and as for the shoe... I bought a pair of {HIGH} heels for a very posh dinner dance - spent a lot of the night terrified to have a wee sip of the vino in case I fell off them when I stood up.... in the end grabbed the bottle and kicked off the shoes..... it seemed the best choice...................

  15. I think the in-house critic was spot on with this one. I think it needed that color. I love that you added a couple of colored butterflies on the piece with the shoe. It helps carry over the butterflies from the printed page and moves you from black and white to COLOR! Woot! Good job with your resolution!!! I've hit a critical point... absolutely must get a card out in the mail tomorrow. It hasn't been made yet. EEK!

  20. Love your triangle layout (Stacy Stamps does this a lot...not sure if that's where you saw it.) I think your beautiful B&W would have been perfect, but I must say that I like the pops of color on that sparkling shoe. I can just see the wearer putting it with her little black dress for after-hours fun. It just looks 'young & energetic' with the electric colors. Kudoes for Mr. L. Now you can do the sparkly gold & silver too! TFS & Hugs

  21. This card is so appropriate for so many reasons. Still got the high heels for starters. Brilliant idea by the inhouse critic to suggest colouring the shoe. 1 brownie point coming up! Or should I be saying boy scout point!! Hugs Mrs A.
