Sunday Snippets - 'Beware of Dog' ATC

I made a super-fast ATC, using snippets and a NBUS stamp I've had for years:

I used:

- a snippet of black card trimmed to 3.5" x 2.5" for the ATC base

- trimmed a snippet of patterned card from the 'All & Create A6 #7' pack of Design papers to a smidgen smaller than the black ATC card

- stamped the dog and sentiment in one go onto the patterned card - using a small Misti platform and a little bit of mystery to sort of align it properly. The ink-pad is Clair's 'Nocturne' of course - could have done with more inkings but my arm was telling me off. The stamp is by Katlzekraft - called 'Dog 03 - Mimi 031'

- glued the two layers together 

- finished off by adhering three toning SU domed sticky back gems in the top left- hand corner

I do love this stamp and sentiment. Steve, our lovely postman saw Dudley on the stairs barking at him the other morning and wryly remarked with a chuckle 'Oh NO, it's that terrifying wild dog again!'  Hard to keep a straight face with a ball of protective white fluff kicking up a fuss, with his duck beside him!

Dudley Pupdate: apart from car outings. playing endlessly in and out of the back garden whilst it's so hot and the doors are left open - Dudley is facing a new challenge. 

Recently I spotted that Dudley would sometimes stop just before using the low tapestry stool to jump onto our bed. Having watched for a while we agreed that he might benefit from a set of steps as our bed is quite high. So, we now have a gently sloping set of soft material covered foam stairs by the bed - and he's loving the training. For now we're not risking them at night but they are there during the day and the little monkey has worked out that little pieces of treats are used to coax him up and down each step. He CAN and also is able to do it. But, oh boy - he's deliberately making the most of extra treat nibbles right now!

Sunday Snippets - ATC's

A new venture for my snippets make today - an ATC coin! I made a normal ATC a couple of days earlier and then Sarn sent me a photo of my one and only previous ATC make - dating back to 2012 or so! I enjoyed making both of the latest ones, the coin was more of a 'success' though - so here it is:

I used:

- 2.5" x 2.5" front piece circle, die cut from a snippet of DCWV 'Quince Blossom' paper stack

- added the sentiment word 'Nature' snipped from a sentiment in the Clarity 'Word Sticker Collection' - absolutely ancient!

- then popped on a black silhouetted bird, sent to me ready die cut by Sarn

- then popped a few Memory Box amber 'Fairy Jewels' onto the centres of the larger flower heads

- added details to the back, using a Globeland stamp from their ATC set, then die cutting it before adhering it in place

- also made a little 'pocket' for the coin, following some very easy instructions (again from Sarn) and another piece of paper from the 'Quince Blossom' paper stack

I searched through my dies for a 2.5" circle and, despite having a load of circle dies, ended up relieving an old 'doily' set of dies of a plain circle - spot on 2.5". The ATC holder had the top semi-circle cut away, using a small circular die rather than a punch - I just don't have the strength these days!

This 'normal' ATC was my first foray - warts and all - after so many years since making Sarn's ATC.

I used: 

- a Penny Black 'Masterpiece' image as a starter for the background - trimmed down to 3.5" x 2.5" 

- I then stamped some flower heads along the bottom edge using a lovely stamp set sent to me by another dear friend and 'Old Paper' Distress Oxide

- added a couple of Lavinia fairies using a Clair 'Nocturne' ink pad - and managed to smudge one of them a bit. I think my attempts to correct it made even more of a pigs ear/dodgy legs of it, but it's here as a reminder to me that freehand stamping is so not my forte!

- the sentiment was stamped using Clair 'Morning Mist' and a stamp from Woodware's 'Postage Stamp Greeting' set

-  then decided to add a line of gold Calligraphy ink around the edges, followed by some dots of Gold ink so i went for overkill and added some dabs of Winsor & Newton gold ink

- still a sow's ear - but I enjoyed playing! And I made an ATC pocket using paper from the same DCWV stack!

Both Val and Sarn have been so encouraging and supportive during my 'journey' into ATC's - thank you both SO much!

Dudley Pupdate: Currently, Dudley isn't really on speaking terms with me as I had the cheek to trim down his 'Ugg boots' around the front of his paws this afternoon during a grooming session- writing this final part on Saturday evening. Always tricky to brush and tidy up with a Havanese climbing onto your shoulder. It's a battle of wits for sure - but we always have a cuddles session later - once he's out of the 'you're SO mean to me' phase. Tee, hee!

WOYWW - 208

That's the good news, the bad news is I haven't made a single ATC due to this little lot:

Yup, I finally finished those 250 magnetic bookmarks for the school reunion this coming weekend - yesterday afternoon. Talk about 'Last Minute Dippy Di' here!

Also, the 'gubbins' at the front is the start of a card I was asked to make for our outgoing lady chairman. Those flowers took hours to make as each single layer is three sections - talk about glutton for punishment/detention/writing of lines, especially 'cos she seems to think I'm still a school junior! The ribbon is to go on the box I need to make for the card.

I've already made promises to some close bloggy friends to exchange ATCs - and they understand why I'm up against the end stop. Also, two other lovely bloggy friends have already sent me ATCs to be opened today - and I've kept to what they asked - but I do know they're both pretty mean with sewing machines and the envelopes are a tad plump :)

Sooooo, am not linking with an 'asterisk' today, why put more pressure on folks when I'm not even ready. BUT if you already have plans to send an ATC to 'Chez Moi' - or really would like one from me - do please let me know in a comment and I'll make my little batch right after the reunion weekend. Big Brownie Promise! Oh, and to 'The Knicker Sisters' - I'll be returning the favour and you're on my little list :)

WOYWW 156 - time to celebrate

Crumbs, three whole years of WOYWW, although I wasn't in at the start it's a super fun idea! Clever Julia!

Here's my desk today, as it was left yesterday afternoon:

Snort, the mess is still to the right out of shot, a bit less there but not much different and this is what I was playing with just before the wine waiter called me for a glass of wine and a sit out in the late afternoon warmth.

We have, usual mug of coffee to the left, ink pads and such to be put away, a couple of clean stamps also to put away, blank ATCs and envelopes to the back left, spare camera battery awaiting charge in front of those and the rest is card making Jubilee stuff I've been toying with. Totally love the Portobello Road papers and buttons! The little plastic box holds Union Flag pennants I've been snipping out of paper chain strips bought ages ago from Hobbycraft - just as well as I was in there yesterday and the place had been raided in readiness for this coming weekend! You can see the paper chain strips poking out of the basket in fact.

OK, I've been persuaded by my buddy Sarn to join in the ATC swop - so that's why there's some ATC stuff out in readiness. I know, should have made them earlier but until yesterday I truly wasn't going to join in as I've never made one before! I worked on them after the photos was taken - good fun too, I could be hooked now. Some extra ones are going to bloggy friends' :)
