I very recently discovered the 'Outside the Box' Memory Box challenge, where you need to use at least one Memory Box stamp or die. I have a ton of Memory Box products so this was exciting news. Sadly, they don't send prizes outside the USA/Domestic area - but it's great to get you thinking for sure!
It was such a recent discovery that I more or less decided to wait until March to play as the February #92 challenge closes late on 27th February. But the theme of 'I'll Drink to That' kept on swirling around in my head - and so I whipped up a card on Sunday to enter, here's the link to the Challenge.
I had a load of fun making my card:
- 5.5" x 4.25" card blank, made using 'Syntegro White Linen Silkweave' textured card, side opening
- a snippet of black card (from the fancy folders that Royal Mail post online postage supplies in) - die cut using the Memory Box 'Piestra Tile' die
- the cocktails are by Tattered Lace from the 'Cocktail Glasses' die set - gifted to me by a very kind friend a good while ago. I die cut them using snippets of the same white card, on the reverse smooth side
- then spent a happy hour (ha, ha - see what I just said, totally without thinking!) colouring in the die cuts, using Zig pens and a waterbrush
- tickled the contents of the glasses with clear Wink of Stella - not playing game and showing up in the photo of course
- layered the little cocktails onto another layer of the same die cuts for rigidity
- then I could place things in place and work out where I wanted the sentiment to go, before they were actually glued down
- stamped the word 'Celebrate' using a Paper Smooches Stamp from the Sentiment Sampler' set of stamps and a VersaFine Clair 'Nocturne' ink pad - a lovely intense black
- then added the 'Piestra Tiles' panel using a glue pen before adding the cocktails, again with a glue pen ........ along the top of what I imagine to be a rather elegant bar in a swish hotel!
This was such fun to make - I didn't think to use my Arteza Watercolour pencils until I was popping the water brush away. Bad me, sorry Santa! I suspect they would be better for such small detailed areas but we live and we learn.
Apart from linking into the Memory Box challenge above, I'd like to enter this into Darnell's NBUS Challenge #47 - the cocktail glasses die set was having a first outing.
Also, the current Allsorts Week 717 Challenge - under the 'Anything Goes' option.
As to the contents of the cocktails - ask me another! No idea but from left to right I'd hazard a guess at a 'Limoncello Serenade', a 'Mojito' of sorts and finally a 'Peach or Strawberry Daiquiri or Bellini'. Yup, I've been round the cocktail menus in my time. Kept these names clean, you ought to see the ones listed in the menus in Covent Garden's cocktail bars. I used to meet up with a friend there pretty regularly after work before she and I
tottered tootled off to find somewhere nice to have a meal - happy days!☺
You certainly know how to whip up a cocktail or three! Great card and memories…..yes I partook in a few myself, happy days! XxxReplyDelete
Defo a Strawberry Daiquiri on the left Di, but Peach Bellini will do as well, either top my list on your fun card. I discovered last year that my Nutribullet makes the most divine Strawberry Daiquiri's, I didn't think it could cope with the ice but did a sterling job of it and you remember the 'need' in those hot Summer days.ReplyDelete
That's a fun card and ell done for spotting a new challenge to use some of your Memory Box collectionReplyDelete
Brilliant card, Di. Those cocktails look good enough to drink! xxReplyDelete
Such a fabulous card and a great one to celebrate any occasion.ReplyDelete
Very beautiful! Such beautiful MB tiles panel, very elegant. Love how you coloured the different glasses/cocktails and the Limoncello Serenade is my favourite :DReplyDelete
I make at home my own Limoncello from the lemons of my trees and it's very strong, so it's perfect to add some drops to any "light" cocktail ;)
Hugs and as always please make some cuddles to Dudley from me
Fabulous card Di. You've inspired me to go and hunt for these dies as they would be perfect for my sister in law and a friend (hope you don't mind) xReplyDelete
Hi Lynne. If you can't find them in the UK, I think they're still stocked in the USA. However, I'd be more than happy to either cut some for you or let you borrow the set to cut your own. Just say the word. xDelete
This is super cute! I like the colorful drinks with the black and white paper.ReplyDelete
A fabulous card Di, I love your cocktails!ReplyDelete
Wow Di, this card is great!ReplyDelete
Hugs from Liv
What a fabulous card for celebrating an occasion with. LOVE the little cocktails and the die cut border. Ah, I remember the days when I used to drink! Mind you, I don't miss hangovers or the extra calories! LOL! xxx
So pleased you came to play at Allsorts Di, many thanks for joining in. Am assuming all will be available on a regular basis in the Playground.ReplyDelete
I'll get Sarn and her magic satchel onto the case! Di xDelete
These are brilliant Di! Love the subtle colouring! Well of course you'd know your way around a cocktail menu - your profile pic says it all!ReplyDelete
Oh you made me laugh, Di! Such a great card--love your variety of cocktails wonderfully colored!ReplyDelete
Out what a gorgeous card Di - love it - the soft watercolours are perfect!ReplyDelete
Ooh how lovely Di could just drink that its so appetising your card is gorgeous xReplyDelete
Fabulous card Di ... really love your colouring on these cute cocktails ... a Happy hour indeed!!ReplyDelete
What an adorable card Di and love your fabulous coctails and the added Piestra Tile die cut as a platform for them to line up too. I'm afraid my cocktail knowledge is severely lacking and I think the only time I have ever had any is many years ago when a friend at that time had a party and made them with the aid of a book and some relevant ingredients...lol. xReplyDelete
