Once again, quite mixed weather here - although we didn't get as much rain as had been forecast. I've been out and about a bit running essential errands such as giving the car a decent run, finally posting off an overdue Playground prize to Vicky, who was so patient - and also to the chemist to collect a repeat prescription. No socialising for us just yet though.
I also made a batch of eight Christmas cards for the Rudolph Days Challenge which runs until Wednesday - my blog post is HERE. Almost lost the will to live in the attempt, which covered four days. Learned a big lesson there - keep it simple when planning a card to reproduce several times over!
All of those little events conspired to mean that my snippets card for this challenge had to be made in double quick time. Unless you count the absolute age it originally took me to make the background using every colour of Brusho I possess - NOT! There's a secret to it - read on:
I used:
- 5.75" x 5.75" square white card blank
- a sheet of paper from the absolutely beautiful Honey Bee 'Team Tie Dye' set of papers, trimmed to 5.5" x 5.5" and glued onto the card front
- a genuine snippet of white card, die cut using dies from the Whimsy 'Big Hugs' set of dies and my sweet little Altenew die cutting machine. Still avoiding using the Cuttlebug whenever possible otherwise i probably would have inlaid the sentiment die cuts
- then just glued the letters plus the XOXO strip to the card front using a Zig glue pen - finished!
You might well have noticed how much I like using both wide washi tape and also papers which at first glance have that 'I made this background myself' look about them. It's a current trend which will no doubt be replaced by something else, but meanwhile I'm enjoying having quick and easy backgrounds to hand.
The Honey Bee 'Team Tie Dye' set of papers is especially lovely - they're double sided and quite a few look as if you had a good session using Brushos and many others are just as if Yupo and alcohol inks have been used. In fact, all the papers really are images of original work carried out by members of the Honey Bee Design Team - gorgeous - love them all!
And here's the prize on offer - a very recent purchase but I needed to pick out a prize from me where the sample card would be quick and easy to make:
Above is a little close-up peep at inside my own pad at two of the papers, which look a bit as if they've been designed using alcohol inks ☺
It's a Honey Bee 'Team Tie Dye' set of papers (so you can also cheat as I did) plus a Whimsy 'Big Hugs' set of dies. The die for the letter 's' in Hugs is separate so you can just say 'Hug/Big Hug'. I can see loads of uses for both parts of this prize, paper and the die set - which I won't be splitting of course.
I am quite conscious that some of you are more into stamping than die cutting and I do try to vary the prizes as much as I can. Often it depends on how organised (or otherwise) I am! I do have a really fun stamping prize coming up in six weeks time.
As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks
and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 10th July.
The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same
day.
It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Oh, you did fool me Di, with that "fancy" card background. I thought that you had used an entire collection of Distress Oxide inks! Yes please to this prize package as those paper are right up my alley. I love a quick and easy background that looks like I've spent hours working on it.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine how great Dudley feels after his bath on a hot day, and how hilarious it is to watch him run laps in the yard afterwards, lol!
WOW, Di! That background is incredible. I'm definitely playing for the prize this time. I love the paper pad and that die set is just too marvelous! :-D
ReplyDeleteSuper card, Di. What an amazing background for the lovely word die cuts, you certainly had me fooled! I’d love to win this prize, so I’ll be a big Yes Please for my name to go into the draw. xx
ReplyDeleteLOVE the card you’ve made with those glorious papers. Fab die too.
ReplyDeleteGreat prize - good luck everyone.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Wow, what a super prize. Much as I enjoy making my own backgrounds it is so easy to turn out muddy results if you aren't careful so it would be great to have a handy supply of beautiful ones like this. Should be back later with a card.
ReplyDeleteBack sooner than I thought and you may have guessed it is a 'yes please' from me for an opportunity this time. Thanks
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card Di - I love the background paper! I'm not joining this challenge as we're away in Zeb for another couple of weeks in (very wet) Cornwall!

Definitely playing this week! i love that die and paper pad! Great card sample!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky... Maddie is actually really good about baths... she does get the zoomies after though!
Love the watercolor look of the patterned paper. When I try to do my own, I just make a mess. So yes for the prize. I am a sucker for pretty papers and big word dies.
ReplyDeleteI think we're all swooning over those beautiful background papers, so it's a big YES PLEASE for me too. Love the mix of designs that make it look like you took hours working on them!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, zoomies after bathtime are a given here at our house. Even though I blow dry Toby after his bath, he still tears around the house like it's a race track. So funny!
That's a fabulous card you made and a fabulous prize to boot! I usually play for fun, but this time it's a yes for me! Those papers are stunning! Take good care and hopefully you're all squeaky clean by now from the showers :)
ReplyDeleteYes, please. The dies are great but those papers are fabulous. I wish I could actually make mine look like that. Plus, no mess!
ReplyDeleteA really super card, stunning background and love the use of the white card for the wording.

A lovely card Di and I agree those papers do make wonderful backgrounds. I would love to be a Yes please for this prize. I can just imagine Dudley zooming round the garden. Ours used to do it when they were younger, but not seen them for ages now. Have a good week x
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the white die cut sentiment over the smooshed effect paper in a myriad of colours Di and this is a great prize and is a very pretty look and the papers would look great with anything..so versatile. I am a yes please for this prize if I get a card in. Glad you are all doing OK including sweet Dudley, and it's good he takes to his bath much better these days, albeit making sure everyone gets the bath too..lol. x
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that you had a play with the distress oxides Di! lol The background on your card is definitely fabulous and does indeed look like you had a great play time. Love this card as it was pretty simple to make, but one would never know it! That is a fabulous paper pad for sure, love those two your showed. The dies are fabulous as well. The weather has been wild all over and so hot. Glad Dudley has been liking his full freshen up and not so stressed about it. Don't you just love to see them "rocket" around the garden?! They have such a good time, I know ours do and give us a nice laugh as well. Sending hugs to Dudley, Parsnips and you! Brenda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Di xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour card may have been quick but it's quite eye catching, I was certain you'd ink smooshed to create the colourful background. I hope the weather cools down for you soon, the heat can be rather unbearable. Take care and be well. Yes, please, for this prize.
ReplyDeleteYour card is wonderfully fun and pretty. Wow, those papers sure are fantastic, such fun. Those MUST got on my list of must-haves!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card Di, and you had me fooled with the paper!
ReplyDeleteYes please to the prize
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
I just love your posts, cards, snippets and prizes! Yes, please to the prize!!
ReplyDeleteDi, have you seen SU's patterned paper that is like this? I don't have it because I was going to try to create it myself with alcohol inks. It's quite similar to your prize that I'd love to win. I think I just commented but didn't see it in the comment section but couldn't remember if it needed to be approved first so that's why the double "Yes please"! Have a fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, your cards is beautiful. And I love that paper stack AND dies. So please count me in! And thanks for the inspiration. (I also have been having some major hassles with a few cards. Sometimes, if I figured in my time, I'd be making cards worth $20-$40 each! Am glad that most of the recipients appreciate the love that goes into making them. The recipients of your cards do too!)
ReplyDeleteLove this big bold sentiment on the fabulously coloured background (like everyone else, I thought you'd spent hours on it)! It's a big yes from me! Some women like shopping for shoes but I can't say no to a pretty paper pad and that sentiment would be perfect for any time of year!
ReplyDeleteWOW - I'll have to get my skates on and make a card to enter into the draw for this prize - its just beautiful - and so sneaky - Lovely card Di.... Cheers Maurs xxx
