Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #363 - results

Another busy week here, with an outing for us to the local surgery for flu jabs, all the capers of Halloween, and the grand finale on Friday was a huge mix-up with Sainsbury's and our grocery order.  Their fault, not mine. As I type this on Saturday I'm waiting for them to finally arrive with a freshly picked order, but apparently they now have a broken down van to deal with and can't make the chosen time slot - so it could be some while yet! Before dark we hope, sigh. Ocado - I'm coming baaaaack to you.

Rant over, so let's get going with this fortnight's picks:
Our lovely Sandra made this brilliant card for her Grandson Nathan. Love the design using little snippets and all the more as, if you look closely, Sandra has cleverly used the waste from the die cut balloons and their strings to fill in the background a bit. Love it!

I chose this darling card as the idea is new to me - and possibly to you.  Jules, who originally started off the Snippets Playground all those years ago, made this beautiful 'scrapling' which is basically made from the small strip you have left over after cutting a card from a sheet of A4. I have a shed load of white strips of card here and it never occurred to me to make dinky little tent shaped cards or bookmarks using them. Do hop over to read more at Jules' blog HERE.

You might want to have a cup of coffee or something to settle down with if you hop over to Vinita's blog HERE, where she's showing this absolutely fabulous Book Box Card to celebrate Diwali. It's gorgeous, uses loads of snippets, even has a shaker element to it and Vinita has tons of wonderful step-by-step photos in her blog post.

When I worked in London I made a great friend who is Hindu and she used to bring the most wonderful savouries and sweetmeats into the office to share at Diwali. We're still in touch but she lived and still lives well North of London and of course we're down in Hampshire. Sometimes I wonder however we managed that daily hoof into the City, at the mercy of British Transport etc., for so many years without ending up in a Funny Farm!

So, that's my picks from Challenge 363 and I do hope they've given you some inspiration for ways in which you can use up some of those snippets.

I do actively look for new and innovative ways to use up your snippets - although I confess that often my own snippets makes will show minimal use of snippets, with exceptions such as the current challenge and all those butterflies of course.

We had 54 entries and no new Playmates this time round.

Time now for the prize draw which is for the wonderful Lawn Fawn 'Manatee-rific' set of stamps with matching dies - along with a Lawn Fawn 'Bayou Backdrop' set of dies. And the winner is:
Well done Vicky! Your first Playground win, and what a win as well! I'm so pleased for you. Please send me your address, with your full name at the top as well so I can copy and paste or just write straight from the email onto the envelope - for speed and ease. It's also confirmation that you still would like the prize of course and I'll post your prize once I hear from you. Please put Playground Winner or similar in the subject line of your email in case it drops into my junk mail. Email address is on RH sidebar as always.

Remember folks, there's still almost another week to run on Challenge #364 - you can find it HERE. The prize is a Memory Box 'Budding Tree' die and a Memory Box 'Mini Butterflies' die.

I thought I'd have a photo of Dudley to share - wearing his cute little bandana - taken at Halloween. Sadly, Len, who took it, says it's too dark - such a shame as he really looked so cute in real life! We'll have to do an action replay asap.

Dudley's coat is already looking really lovely - and his latest trick is to pirouette round and round on his hind legs, holding his front legs out sideways (just like a little ballet dancer) to help him to keep his balance! I'll try and take a short video the next time it's dry enough for us to be in the garden, which is when he dances best as that's 'treats' time! Watch out for Rudolf Nureyev appearing here soon!

He's fast asleep right now under my desk with his head gently resting against one of my feet. We've had very high winds and rain here since the early hours of the morning which has made for interesting 'toilet trips'. Someone here will scamper outside for a quick wee but is determinedly hanging onto 'the rest' - and it ain't Len or myself!   Hmm, we're keeping a close eye on him just in case he tries to 'perform' indoors rather than risk being blown away! It would be a surprise if he does but we're not taking the risk - it took me weeks to recover from the 'Avon Lady Special' performance he did last November whilst he was being toilet trained.

Edit: The grocery order arrived on Saturday, only 15 minutes after our original chosen time band, long saga with issues with the delivery, but we're now all sorted out! And, little Dudley is a brilliant ice breaker - even the burliest delivery driver almost breaks down and whimpers when he sees him! :) And to be fair, it's not the delivery guys at fault with all this - it's their IT system, rubbish 'pickers' and also carelessness at the Sainsbury's end as the stuff is loaded/thrown into delivery crates.

Love from Parsnip, a wave from Dudley - and of course hugs as always from me,

  1. Congratulations to the Top Picks - lovely creations. Well done to Vicky too on her win. xx

  2. Wonderful picks again this time and congratulations to Vicky for winning the lovely prize. Glad you got your order delivered correctly this time and look forward to seeing Dudley do his party trick soon. x

  3. Great picks, with some interesting uses of snippets! I too have to use a very BIG pile of them, so well done to new ideas!! Well done to the winner!!
Hope that now you have all that you need from the grocery!
Waiting to see Dudley's ballet, I'm sure that he will made me smile so much!!! :D
Hugs and make some cuddles to Dudley and Parsnip by me!

  4. Congrats to Vicky!
Thank you for choosing my project in your top pics! So happy!

  5. Great picks as always and congratulations to the lucky winner. Pleased to hear your grocery order was sorted out eventually. I hope I'm not tempting fate to say that I've had excellent service with no 'hiccups' from my online grocery people and the drivers are always very pleasant and polite.

  6. 3 lovely showcased snippets makes.

Glad your grocery order finally got sorted!

    Hugs, Sarn x

  7. Hi Di

Many thanks for choosing my little project to showcase .. .. .. so pleased you liked it.

I have a lovely pile of scrapling blanks just waiting to be transformed.

I mentioned on my post that Mr Heart had created a template for me to make envelopes for my 6.5 x 13.5cm scraplings.

If anyone would like the template then just let me know and I will email it over to you. He did me two versions. One which I printed onto card, cut out and now draw around each time and then another version that I can use with my Scan N Cut machine.

You can email me using the link under my profile on my blog.

Pleased your shopping arrived Di .. .. .. at least it won't be beans on toast for Sunday dinner!!

    Love Jules xx

  8. Fabulous picks and congratulations to Vicky too.

Good to hear your shopping finally arrived Di. We have online delivery (Waitrose) and although their drivers are very helpful I do think some of their pickers need more training to ready my 'notes to shopper'!!

  9. Stunning picks and great inspiration :)

  10. Congrats Vicky and the top picks. Awesome cards. HUgz

  11. Congratulations to all the winners, your cards are wonderful, fabulous designs one and all, Kate x

  12. What lovely picks! I just used that HA Silhouette Grass stamp & oh how I love the balloon dies that have the strings attached! May have to hunt those down! Poor Fritz--barked constantly on Halloween--not my favorite holiday to put it mildly. He has to be in a crate since he attacks the door anytime someone is there. We had very few kids, so at 8:15 I turned off the light & let the poor guy relax. Will be waiting to see the video!

  13. Congratulations Vicky enjoy your win and another show case of gorgeous cards Di and many thanks for showing mine l had a lot of pleasure making this card especially as it was for my grandson but to use up the bits made it extra special enjoy your day x

  14. Thanks everyone! Oh my goodness, I can't believe I won! Thank you so much for this fabulous prize draw Di, I am absolutely thrilled to bits! What inspiring projects here too - I was just admiring them so it was a huge surprise to see my name and I nearly fell off my chair!
    Vicky xx

  15. I wish we could get groceries delivered here in the US Di. That would be so convenient! Sorry there was a mix up in your order, but at least it wasn't on your end. Wow, what wonderful picks Di, I love Sandra's birthday card, it is so festive, Jules card is amazing as always-she always blows me away with her talent and cleverness, and Vinita's Book Box Card is simply amazing! A Big congrats to Vickie, so happy she won since she had never won before. Oh I can imagine how cute Dudley is doing his pirouette around and around like a ballerina! Yes, you will have to get a video of that. lol Boy, our dogs love the rain and snow, so they just doddle around out in it, they could take a cue from Dudley! lol We are getting high winds again on Friday. Oh joy! lol Bret got another little puppy, a mini Aussie again, so three dogs here and I'm going a bit crazy. lol Maverick is his name and he is pretty good, just all puppy. You know how that is?! Hugs, Brenda

  16. Fabulous choices this week Di, and congratulations to Vicky!
