As I already said in a previous post, one of our 'partners in crime' (Moira) couldn't make our school reunion - this is the card I sent off to her so it would arrive when the event kicked off. And we did miss her very much needless to say:
I used:
- 4" x 6" cream card blank (I reverted to our A6 measurement as, according to the image panel, plus sentiment, it actually looked more balanced)
- a Penny Black Stickeroo from the 'romance of flowers' sheet - adhered to a snippet of card and then die cut using a Spellbinders oval die - ran a ball ended tool around the edge before removing the image from the die itself
- from the same Stickeroo sheet I then added a separate butterfly sticker
- die cut a backing layer using SU's Wisteria Wonder' card and a shallow scalloped Spellbinders die, again ran a ball ended tool around the outer 'grooves' then glued the image to the backing panel
- the sentiment was stamped, using the Misti, VersaFine 'Vintage Sepia' ink and a sentiment from the Penny Black set called 'special thoughts'
- glued the image panel in place and left it at that - used cream and managed four layers, if you count the addition of the butterfly!
I got back home safely yesterday but do need time to catch up on the Snippets
Playground girls! In my absence, Megan stepped forward as our current Guest Designer and offered to make sure she commented on your entries. Bless her heart, I've just begun hopping around your entries and she's been true to her word - thank you so much Megan! What a star.
BTW, I had the colly wobbles about my vastly improved back holding up over the weekend - what with longish car drives, luggage humping, strange bed, clambering about on boats etc. But, so far, all is good! Of course, it might just have helped that this was also the first time I didn't get up on the table and do a can-can followed by a quick swing from a chandelier after the formal Saturday Dinner :)
When I get time I'll pop some photos on a blog post with a couple of tales from recent events - believe me, there are some things at these reunion weekends you really couldn't make up!
You're so thoughtful to have made this pretty card and sent it to your friend just at the right moment to let her know she was missed at the reunion! She will never forget your kindness, Di! And I'm so delighted to hear that your back held up to all those rides, strange beds, humping, and - well, really, my dear, one is quite too shocked to say more!! Hugs, Darnell

Not having much luck in commenting at the moment. I have been chucked out of blogger but reinstated , chucked out of Flickr even though I know my account details and password but still had to set a new account up in order to commentt on another card. Strewth! I need me a holiday! So glad to hear you had a nice time and refrained from dancing on the tables. I thought I recognised this as being a stickeroo Miss and very nice it looks here too. Perfect against the wisteria card stock. Thank you for fluttering into the butterfly garden. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeletewonderful card!

ReplyDeleteThe image goes fabulous with the backing card and a brilliant idea to cut it into an oval shape, note to self.

Wow!! So sweet card, amazing flowers and LOVE the handmade border around the frame! Fabulous make, and thanks so much for entering in the Butterfly Challenge#72 :D
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful of you - such a pretty card and a lovely design.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time away. ..and that your back held up. I do know that dread of a strange bed! Sometimes even a strange pillow...
ReplyDeleteYour card for your friend is lovely. I like the way you cut your PB stickeroo so that the impression of the die edges show. It looks great.
No post yet here, but will keep my eye out. Have not been for a couple of days to check it as my back has been sore. Will walk down tomorrow.
lovely card for your friend x Amanda
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to send a card to Moira telling her she would be missed. It's a lovely card Di and such pretty colours. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Moira loved this gorgeous card. What a nice gesture from you to send this lovely card knowing you will miss her. Those sticker papers are the bomb. I love how you incorporated them into a card. What happy news about your back. It just shows that having such great fun as dancing on tables and swinging can be hazardous to your health!
ReplyDeleteLovely card, Di. Those are nice stickers. I thought they were die cuts. You are so thoughtful and sweet to give this to Moira so she doesn't feel left out. 😉
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your kind comment on my mom's birthday card.
A lovely card for Moira, I'm sure she appreciated knowing that you were thinking of her. Just a shame she couldn't be there with you. Sounds like you had a brilliant time at your reunion. Looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing all about it. xx
