As always, a huge thank you to everyone who came to play this past fortnight - loads of gorgeous entries. And a really massive thank you to Megan for her sterling work commenting as well. It was such a help - huge hugs from me Megan!
This is my quite plain and simple snippets card for the coming fortnight - I made it before skipping away for the long weekend so kept it easy peasy:
- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank, tent style
- snippet of white card stock, trimmed to just slightly smaller than the card front
- snippet of green card, die cut using one of the dies from the Spellbinders 'Borderabilities A2 - Curved Borders One' set. A set I'd kept forgetting I even had!
- glued the curved green die cut piece to the bottom of the card allowing the side edges to overhang - then just snipped those flush with the side of the piece of white card from the back which ensures a straight cut
- then found snippets of mauve, turquoise and pink card onto which I stamped little elephants, with separate ears in a contrasting pattern - using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and the Clearly Besotted 'Baby Shower II' set of stamps
- then used the matching set of Clearly Besotted dies to cut out the elephants and their ears - following the 'cut a template for positioning of a die' method I often mention - and set them aside for a minute
- then stamped the 'Jumbo hugs' message on the front panel using one of the two sentiments in the stamp set and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink
- fixed the panel to the card front with a sandwich of white fun foam in between
- finally added the three little elephants along the green border using pieces of thin sticky pads, and added their ears using little snippets of sticky pad
The Clearly Besotted stamp set is a fairly recent acquisition - at last their store has re-opened after Stephanie took time out. To be honest I suspect she was plain exhausted - but I'm so glad they're up and running again with her sister at the helm. They have lots of new stock, sadly for us it's selling out fast too but these little elephants just called for me to buy them :) The set is perfect for baby shower cards but I think the 'Jumbo hugs' sentiment I used is nice and versatile - plus elephants can so easily be mixed and matched with other sentiment stamps. And of course the ears could have been contrasting colours - but this was my first play plus I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't go too mad!
As I said, I've badly neglected the Borderabilities dies - shame on me! A lot of people use them vertically down cards and the results can be fabulous.
As is often the case, no need to really spell out what this fortnight's prize is made up of:
I bought my own set of the Borderabilities dies ages ago and am sure that Spellbinders dies are now more competitively priced than they used to be - certainly the place I just bought this set from was doing good prices :)
The Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks from now on and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 24th June. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.
It's still a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. The prize is both items together as a single prize, unless you really do only want to try for a 'split' - in which case I'd do a further draw for the other item. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' just in case you're playing only for fun. Thanks!
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Be sure to call back next week to see the winner of last fortnight's prize (the Avery Elle dies and the W Plus 9 Doodlebuds stamps) plus my picks from the past two weeks - as well as another lovely guest designer too!
Love from Parsnip and of course from me,
Glad you had a good time at your reunion and great news that your back held out.
ReplyDeleteWonderful CAS card, Di. The cute little elephants reminded me of the elephants in Jungle Book as they marched along in single file, singing their song. 😊
I'll be back to play later and I'll be a Yes Please for the fabulous prize. xx
What cute and pretty little elephants Di and the borderabilities die makes the perfect hill for them to tramp over. I do have this borderabilities die myself so if I get my card in I would like to be a 'yes pleae' for just the elephants and their matching dies if you are willing to split the prize. x
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a ball at your reunion, and that you are looking forward to the next one! Your sweet little card is the perfect way to use snippets for paper piecing, and those Spellbinder curved border dies look like loads of fun. Yes please to the rpize!
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant to say yes to the prize...but you probably understood my nonsensical spelling!
DeleteWow, this may be a 'simple' card but those little ellies are super cute marching across the hills. Can't resist saying yes please for a place in the draw this time!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you had a great time, your back held out AND you managed to make a fab card!

ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect sentiment for those adorable elephants. I'm glad you enjoyed your reunion but I expected more stories from the trip. Surely even though you didn't dance on the table there was more to it than just "I'm back". 'Fess up!
ReplyDeleteSnigger. I'll do a post with a few more details in ASAP Brenda!
DeleteHugs
Di xx

ReplyDeleteHi Di, a very cute card and would make for a great baby card too, I had fun popping in on all the class mates, only a few missed because I'm not a member of certain sites. Have a wonderful week.... Megan
ReplyDeleteI hope to come back later on and add my entry, a huge yes please for the prize, when I make it over...
Your card is just gorgeous Di, I do love the elephants! It's a yes please from me for the draw, such a fabulous prize, thank you!

ReplyDeleteHello Di, super card. The three elephants are adorably cute and I do like the effect you've created with the border die. The sentiment is perfect too. I'd love to be included in the draw for the prize - what's not to love about elephants. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time at the reunion, Di.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant to comment when I added my card. (I got distracted posting a goodbye comment for Mojo Monday.) I am playing for the border die only. (The elephants are adorable, however.)
Thank you.
Love your card Di. Those elephants are the cutest things! Yes please to the fabulous prize :)
ReplyDeleteYour commentary regarding the reunion was really quite short, Di. Was that one of those "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" trips? Hmmmm. :-D I do love the sweetly simple card with those adorable elephants. I think I'll be playing along just for fun this week but did want to pop in to see that you were safely back. :-D
ReplyDeletevery sweet card!

ReplyDeleteOh Di, that card is just Too Cute! Absolutely adorable (I'd say "Totes Adorbs" but then I'd have to kill myself). Yes please to the prize, although I'm not promising I'll ever achieve such prefect cuteness.
ReplyDeleteJane
I've enjoyed the photos and details of your trip, and I'm so happy you felt well enough to go! Your parade of elephants is a perfect CAS card, so cute for so many reasons! I'm going to have to say yes to the prize draw this week as I have nothing in my stash that comes close to these cuties :) Stay well! (hugs)
ReplyDeleteA cute card, love the elephants. I'd love a chance to win the elephant stamps and dies, please, not the border dies as I have a similar set.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Such an adorable card Diane, and it was lovely to see the photographs of your trip too. Stratford upon Avon is a lovely town and it's so pretty too. I would love any of the prizes please, the little elephants would be ideal for my little niece, I have been struggling making cards for a little one Karen x
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Di, I love the tiny elephants. Just playing for fun this time.

Such a great pity your friend couldn't attend.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Your EZPZ card is adorable, Di, and just the ticket to bring someone hugs and cheer! I, too, have ignored my Spellbinder dies ... Some are still NBUS, which is just silly on my part! Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteYes please for fantastic prize :-)
Hugs, Majda
I love those cute little elephants and your card is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to have found your blog to play and yes, please, to the awesome prize!
What a super cute card! Those elephants are just adorable, even more so due to the paper piecing. My card doesn't use snippets in a super creative way this time, but I did get to use up some bits of random pieces of cardstock: those that are too big to throw away but not big enough for much! Would love to play for the prize this week, thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I love, love your 'ellie card'...so cute I have a place in my heart for little 'Ellies"...thank you for all you do, sorry I haven't been around much, my life is one hectic mess most of the time lol!! So I say yes, yes to all...and another time I entered for a die you had and I just had to own the die, so after the challenge I bought it...and haven't even had time to use it..lol...does that happen to you..to me ALL the time, oh well at least it is there when I have time!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't played for ages, its so nice to be back! Your card is sooooo cute and 'yes please' I would love to be in the draw for a chance to win the wonderful prize, thank you! Hugs xxxxxxxxx
