Less is More - Week 232 - One Layer and Masculine

I almost keeled over when I saw what this week's Less is More challenge theme is! On top of being one layer, they only went and threw 'masculine' into the pot as well!

Before I could reach for my SU 'Rev Up The Fun' set, someone had already hopped in 'toot sweet' with a great card using same set. Sigh :(

Then I remembered a stamp set that's in the NBUS box here, and just had to keep my fingers crossed that our KathyK didn't turn to it as I know she's used the same set previously - and very well I should add! This is what I made:
I used:

- A6 white card blank, tent style

- stamps from the Acid Drops and Whatnots' set called 'Dressed to Kill'. Stamped the image using Memento 'Tuxedo Black ink (how very appropriate!) and just coloured his 'foppy/floppy' handkerchief using a red Whispers pen

- added the sentiment from the same set, inked up using SU's 'Real Red' ink pad

- final touch, a wobbly line round the edge using a black fine liner pen

10 minutes flat! Wahoo :)

Edit: Almost cried with laughter here on Sunday. I only tend to post on the blog once a day and only on certain days of the week - so I scheduled this post for Tuesday being as how Sunday was Snippets Playground day. Ha! KathyK was away on Saturday but on Sunday morning she hopped into Less Is More with ............................................... this card:

So funny - and serves me right for not striking while the iron was hot eh?! So, I'm not linking this into Less is More after all :)

Another edit: After hilarity and encouragement in your lovely comments, am entering my card (at the top of this post!) just for fun after all into Less is More - if only as a little reminder not to hang about if you have an idea!

  5. This is such a funny and fabulous card...absolutely fabulous dahling!!!

I loved your funny story too...amazing how that happens. I did not post my duplicate of yours...having a rough time with my arthritis and just did not have the energy to take photos and write a post.
I am trying to connect the new trickle irrigation before we head to the lake and man oh man, it takes strong hands to puncture the main line to get the wee emitters in. I can hardly move my hands at the mo! lol

  6. It's a great card, and I had to laugh, that is something that would happen to me for sure..lol!! and normally when I see a "man" challenge I run and hide, but actually I have made a few good ones lately..just so hard to not put "girlie" things on my card!

  7. I don't understand why you feel you can't enter this card to the LIM challenge, even though Kathy has used the same set? They still look different.

It's a great one layer masculine card . .. go on, enter it.

    Hugs, Sarn xxx

  8. Thanks for the mention here - may I say how great your make is too, Di

I think you should still enter it over at LIM - I've used the same stamps before and still entered. Best of luck

  10. Well Di it may be the same stamp but it's a different design and that's what counts eh?! We all use the same stamps sometimes in different ways don't we!

  11. It's great Di! I love it! So glad you've entered it into the challenge. I often use the same sets as others and love how we interpret them in our own way xxx

  14. You know what Di when I looked at the thumbnail images to comment I thought ... I've seen this one already so why is there no 'tick'? You've answered my puzzle.
Love how you've cropped the stamped image. He's super cool and definitely smooth isn't he. Great one layer card and thanks as always for joining the fun at Less is More. Sarah xx

  15. That's too funny that you both used the same stamp set! Both of your cards are great though, and you used the same stamp differently and creatively! I very rarely ever look at other entries in a challenge until after I enter my own card. I write the challenge on a piece of paper and keep that on my craft table, so if I happen to use an identical stamp set, it's pure coincidence! Either way, great card Di!

  18. Just catching up with posts, what a great story Di. That is one of the draw backs of challenges, discovering someone else has already used an image you were going to use. I tend to stick to my original plan regardless, usually because it is the only one I have and it is too late to change it! But then even with the same image the cards all come out differently so I don't think it matters too much. I like both the cards but as art is subjective your take is the one I prefer.

  19. Your card is a scream! And I'm glad that you decided to link up after all. Just cut you two used the same stamp doesn't mean you did the same thing with it (although, yeah I know, sometimes it does). Great card!

  20. Too funny, Di. I think this has happened to us all, I've often had a design in mind only to see someone else beat me to it...pfft! Anyhoo, I love your layout and great addition of the doodled frame.
    Thanks for sharing with us.
