Sympathy cards are so difficult and I do seem to have been making my share lately. This is a design I've used before and it seemed to work well so I went back to it:
I used:
- 6" x 6" square cream linen card stock
- K & Company background, layered onto brown Core'dinations card
- Penny Black 'Hello Sunshine' stamp and Brilliance 'Coffee Bean' ink pad
- sentiment is a Hobbycraft stamp I've had for ages, again stamped using 'Coffee Bean'
- organza ribbon bow in toning brown - from the ribbon box
Skipping WOYWW yet again this week as am away for the next couple of days, in connection with the card above - sigh.
Please play nicely in the Playground - I found the goat all togged up in my best party frock on Monday! Here's part of an email exchange that day, that just 'happened' to fall into my shaking hands:
I
knewd I should ave disposed of that wine bottle and not took a photo of
it. The ducks wos appy enough when we/dey wos havin a sup of it. How'd
I know theyd qwack up.
I was trying to dress wun of up like Mrs Puddle Duck but I got a bit
side tracked by a chookin with a mouse on its ead and the goat somehow
got in the way. I borrowed next doors Chiwawa and the sheeps is back
with the farmer ooooo says he is gonna sue cos
they all have bites on dere legs. Who is Sue?
You never mentioned the pig. On second thoughts your best not to.
It wos a right good mini Glastonbury. Think we might do it agin next
year. Apparently we are allowed to have one 4 yrs running and then we
ave to give all the animals a rest or summick.
I leave you to guess who wrote that little missive :) Err, pig - WHAT pig is that!!??

I really hope you don't have to make any more of this type of card for ages Di. However this is just right for such a sad occasion. Beautiful simplicity.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you Sue Pxxx
It's a sad fact of life Di - the older we get the more Sympathy cards we need to make. I hope your trip goes smoothly. hugs. Kate x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Di, the soft subtle colours are perfect for such a sad occasion. I missed the goat in your party dress - why didn't I see that? Didn't see the pigs either - I feel cheated :( Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you had need of another sympathy card, Di. I hope you had a safe trip. This is a beautiful sympathy card by the way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Di. Hope it all goes well today.
ReplyDeletep.s. We had to use the pig cos the Donkey din't want to play 'Pin the tail on the Donkey'.
Ooops. Wasn't me miss.
They are not the easiest cards Di but you have made a lovely one so fitting too xx
ReplyDeleteWe will be here waiting for you hun, I hate making those cards too, but it's one of life's little kicks in the rear.
ReplyDeleteOn a completely different note, to make you smile a little ...
I will put the kettle on miss for when you get back home to us, in fact I could put a slug of gin into it if you wants, I know where Mrs A hides it you see.
BTW did you know there are piglets in the bike shed miss? I hope that you will pick me as prefect soon, then I will show them who's the boss of me!
Am I or should I say I am getting more mad lol! Yep those penguins do look like they are line driving, in fact I now have the Steps 5,6,7,8 song going in my head, yep def more mad! Karen x
ùlovely card but sad that it is another sympathy card. Have a safe journey and we will all keep watch for the hooligans in the playground!!!
ReplyDeleteI will try to figure out the directions for my infra red night searching goggles before you leave...do not worry about us at all!!!
Oh dear, I seem to have missed this post yesterday. Sorry to hear about all your friends.
ReplyDeleteVery difficult cards to make and this is really lovely, the subtleness of the image and the large sentiment says it all. Great card.

Oops forgot to say that I haven't stepped into the playground for a week or two but to tell you the truth I am now a bit wary of doing so.
ReplyDeleteYou know who's mail did make me giggle though, time the Doc. sedated her!

A great card Di, sorry the need was there so soon after other one..
ReplyDeleteI trust the above post with ultra yummy stir fry means you are home again ....
...and did chuckle all the way through Mrs A.'s missive, who could help it she is so expressive (no, not impressive - :D)
.. and so the goat lives for another day and the pig too after all the shenanigans... Ah, fancy dress is fun :D
sending big hugs, much love and prayer, Shaz in Oz.x
PS Hoisin sauce is also great in stir fry.. a Hong Kong sauce I think.. I get it at the Chinese shop.
