Lazy Days - Water Lilies and dragonfly

I love this stamp, which has been waiting patiently to be used, since my birthday almost 5 months ago - shame on me yet again! This stamp cataloguing business is doing me a power of good - up popped this stamp in perfect time for a challenge - Make My Monday, Nature, in which you must use butterflies and/or dragonflies this week.

Here's what I came up with, using some snippets so it was really meant to be for tomorrow but I'd miss the closing time of the challenge and a girl has to be selfish sometimes. I might have a go on the swings all alone once the playground is closed at midnight, and before it gets opened again on Sunday morning :)
Oh boy, I do so love this image - and I used some new toys here as well.

A week or so ago I bought some Flex Markers - sets I and 2 (courtesy of a small win from Ernie) as they are such lovely pastel colours with a nice 'brush action'. The jury is still out here about recommending them though, the brush pens are brilliant I have to say. The colours are truly delicate and they work fantastically with Pro Markers but, and it's a big but, I had to have 4 of the 12 markers replaced. On 3 markers the colour wouldn't come through the pointed nib end at all (just alcohol coming through) despite me scribbling - until I was blue in the face - as instructed to 'prime' the pens, even though it worked fine at the chisel end, the pointed end wasn't playing ball, and the fourth marker arrived with a split barrel. The up-side is that Joanna Sheen's customer service was amazing - and so were Letraset. Within 36 hours of me contacting JS, replacement pens arrived directly from Letraset. The sad thing is that the colours are so truly gentle - I used them for the ripples of water, the petals on the front lily and the dragonfly's wings......I totally love them when they work....... before I added Glamour Dust. Anyhow, back to the card:

I used:

- 6" x 6" white square card stock

- all other card and backing papers came from the snippets folder

- image is called 'Water Lilies' from the Joanna Sheen Favourite Flowers Collection - stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured with both Pro Markers and the more subtle Flexi Markers

- the Quickie Glue Pen and a sprinkling of Glamour Dust on the wings of the dragonfly

- white Josy Rose nail heads as a finishing touch :)

Another card, which I so loved making!

  2. I love this stamp, and it is perfect for colouring. I am with you on the flex markers. I prefer my copics to promarkers because they all have the brush tip, though the half set I have at the minute does not have such vibrant colours as my promarkers. But I bought a set of flex markers when I was in UK in the autumn, and one of mine will not colour with the brush tip. I don't know the name of the shop where I bought them, and trying to exchange things from here is such a hassle anyway, so I haven't done anything about it. After a lot, and I do mean a lot, of priming I got a feint tint on the paper but nothing like the colour from the chisel end, and the barrel must be half empty by now! So the jury is still out on them, but I love their muted shades. If I buy any more I'll get them from JS.
But back to your card. It is beautiful. Love the colour and the image. Kate x

  9. you are quite right, Di, I just had not got round to blogging today until now. Thank you for your lovely comments, and I hope you have ticked me off in the register for this week. I think I was on time, even though I just had to rush out to take the cheese scones out of the oven ready for tea. xx Maggie

  10. Those pens sound a right pain to me so quite happy to give them a miss. Not so Ernie though. Had bonds since I was a wee child and zilch. Not a halfpenny, threepence piece, florin, nothing so whats your secret then. (Not having an affair with him are you?)
Right I'm off to grab me a cheese scone from Maggie whilst they are hot from the oven.
Nearly forgot. Card is fabby. When my boat comes in I'm gonner buy a shed load of these stamps.
Really going this time the cheese is wafting over. Hugs Mrs A.

  14. I don't have a snippet card this week but it would be fun to join you on the swings at midnight.
Your card is fabulous. Love the colors and papers. Makes me look forward to spring and the dragonflies around the pond, doubt they will be here anytime soon, pond is frozen and it's still white out there.
    Hugs
