Sunday Snippets - Butterflies!

Here's my snippets card for this week:

My leftover snippets - yay, I remembered to take a photo!
I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, tent style

- grey backing paper from Echo Park's 'Be Mine' paper pad (it's actually the reverse of a sheet printed, using the same grey that features in many of the designs - handy πŸ˜€), trimmed to the same size as the card front and glued in place

- another sheet of paper from the same pad, this time patterned, trimmed to 5.25" x 4" and glued in place on top of the grey layer

- then came the snippets - the previous day I found some offcuts of Strathmore Mixed Media card and played around making backgrounds using Lindy's Magical shakers - all from the 'Tea and Crumpets' range

- I chose to die cut the black top layers from a snippet of black 'velvet' card' first, using two dies from the Sizzix 'Detailed Butterflies Mini' set and put them aside for now

- used the leftover apertures so I could choose whereabouts from the backgrounds to die cut the bottom layers of the butterflies

- die cut the bottom 'solid' layers from the backgrounds already made using 'Lindy's Shakers', then ran them through the Gemini to emboss them, using the same dies

- glued the black die cut layers onto the embossed base layers

- final step was to add both butterflies to the card front, using snipped up thin sticky pads

It's a shame that the shimmer doesn't show up - especially in the purple butterfly. The embossing step was SO worthwhile, again in real life!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenge:

- Darnell's NBUS challenge #61 - HERE - the butterfly die set I used is NBUS,

Dudley Pupdate: At last, we've had some sunshine here and the difference it's made to Dudley is so heartening. He adores playing in the dry back garden, zoomies are his speciality, some lovely dry walks and he races back indoors with such a sweet lopsided grin on his face! Happy dog, happy home!

Remember, I've just kicked off a new challenge over in the Snippets Playground HERE. Hope to see you on the swings!

Love as always, Dudley Dog and me,

  1. So pretty Di, love the paper, and I zoomed in to see the shimmer and embossing. I can imagine Dudley doing zoomed in the sunshine, I was tempted myself πŸ˜‚☀️☀️☀️

  2. Zoomies, not zoomed πŸ™„

  3. WOW - this is such a beautiful card. Those butterflies are gorgeous and I love the background paper too.

Delighted to hear Dudley is back on form with a spring in his step. Xxx

  4. Can't beat a Butterfly or two Di, very pretty against the script backgroud.

    B x

  5. The butterflies stand out beautifully against the muted background print - that has to be my favourite butterfly die set (also comes in a slightly larger size too). The shimmer must be beautiful in real life, shame it doesn't show up in our photos πŸ™„. Pleased to hear that Dudley is enjoying the nicer weather

  6. Gorgeous Di. I love the background paper and yur butterflies are so pretty x

  7. Such a fabulous card Di - and i love the look of the embossed base wings with the silhouette layer embedded in the base - a fabulous 'look'.
Great to hear that Dudley has had 'fun in the sun'.

  8. Those butterflies are gorgeous and look amazing on that great background too. What a beautiful card! Sunshine makes me feel like zooming around too - I think we're all grateful when the sun comes out! Enjoy your Sunday

  9. Very pretty card Di, the butterflies stand out beautifully against your gorgeous scripts background xx

  10. Gorgeous card and great use of snippets!

  11. Lovely card Di and Dudley is not the only one to appreciate a change in the weather!

  12. This worked out beautifully - love the script background.

  13. Love so much the whole card and the butterflies look amazing as queens of the stage!
I have the slightly larger version of them. The paper you used for the back are just gorgeous and the embossing adds a lovely touch of dimension.
So glad that Dudley could finally run around the garden and enjoy the sun! Here it's already very hot, 30° are too much after all the cold rain! But they say that in two days rain will return. Sigh!
Hugs and a happy five to Dudley

    1. Happy High Five back from Dudley!! xx

  14. Beautiful butterflies using your Lindy's Magicals in the pink and purple Di and great against the black, and I love the background paper with the different scripts and postmark and perfect on the grey card. Lovely to hear Dudley has been enjoying his zoomies with the better weather. We have been enjoying time out ourselves with somewhat drier weather for the last few days. x

  15. So pretty Di l adore your butterflies and l just love the printed background too x

  16. A fabulous card Di - I love the paper with those gorgeous butterflies.
    Kath x

  17. I am in love with this stunning and romantic looking card Di! The embossed and shimmered butterflies are gorgeous and are shown off beautifully against the script background. I'm delighted to hear that Dudley has perked up in the sunshine - I think the rain was getting all of us down. Hugs, Vicky x

  18. Beautiful card, Di. The butterflies are fabulous.
    Liz xx
