Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #399 - Ruby's Memory

Our wee Ruby 2005-2020

This our second challenge devoted to the memory of Ruby, Lynne in NI's adorable little Westie, who went to Doggie Heaven just before Christmas.

This runs very much like my usual challenges and the rules are exactly the same. The main difference you will notice is that I won't make sample card as the prize has been donated and I don't have a duplicate - although I've been sorely tempted to go and buy duplicates of many of the lovely prizes you've been sending for Ruby's Challenge I admit! Instead, I'm donating what I would have spent  to the rescue charity who saved little Ruby as a wee puppy.

So, here's an image of the prize this time:

It's a really lovely stamp set (image and sentiment which reads 'Love is a four legged word') called 'Tiny Townie: Dawn Loved Her Doggie'. Ruby's Mum, Lynne in NI, bought this and had it sent directly to me from Seven Hills Crafts. Although Lynne did give me a heads up in case I wondered what on earth I'd been ordering, I had no idea what the item was - and needless to say I cried when I opened the envelope! So very true and touchind as well. What a wuss I am. ☺ Many thanks Lynne.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 3rd April. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're only playing for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list. And I won't be splitting the prize of course.

Please also remember that I only allow a total of nine other challenges, which makes 10 in total, when you enter a snippets make into the Playground.

I must say that having Ruby's challenge and also Guest Designer challenges is beginning to free up more time for me to do other things and also to play with long neglected goodies, without the self-inflicted pressure. I just need to find my missing mojo and I'll be flying!

I wrote the other day that our Connie is now out of hospital and back at home getting over COVID pneumonia. It was her Birthday on Wednesday and to perk her up she received a Simon Says Stamp Gift Voucher, with love from all of us in the Playground. She was delighted and says thank you to everyone.

Dudley really has had us almost crying with laughter here. Whilst he was out with Len the other day I washed three of his previous 'Stinky Monkey' toys in the washing machine. I often hide them away when doing a sneaky substitution with a new one (unless the ears are chewed off and such) and so far Dudley had no idea there was more than one in the whole wide world. They came out OK but what followed was hilarious - as well as very touching. I'd strung them up by their tails to dry on an airing rack in the conservatory and thought I'd disguised them enough by draping a couple of similarly coloured items, that I'd washed at the same time to balance the machine load, around them. Without thinking, Len later opened the door to the conservatory and of course little nosy parker followed him, His jaw dropped open as he immediately poked his head under the drying rack in case he was missing something - Dudley that is, not Len! His face was a picture when he looked up and spotted them and he wouldn't budge! So, in came the monkeys to sit on a double radiator that Dudley can't reach. Again, he wouldn't budge and just sat whining and looking at them. Plan C was to distract him (me) and Len to put the monkeys on a melamine tray and hide it well out for sight on top of a guest bedroom wardrobe so they could finish drying. Yup, he even sussed that! So down they came as, once again, he was crying for them. By this time it was bedtime and he settled down beside the tray for the night!

We'd sat his current 'Stinky Monkey the Sixth' beside the tray to let him know that he was 'different', but even that didn't placate him ☺. He was just like a new doggy parent watching over a litter of puppies! As I say, we were practically weeping with laughter - in the end Len came up with the bright idea of sitting them in Dudley's doggy bed, in our bedroom. He rarely uses it - and so far that's worked. He did hop up and down off the bed to check his 'babies' out a few times during the first night - but thankfully isn't taking much notice of them any longer and 'Stinky Monkey the Sixth' still goes all over the house with him. So shortly the 'babies' will be quietly packed away totally out of sight once they're bone dry.

This is the first photo I've managed to take of Dudley since we finished trimming him as well - I know a few of you have been asking to see him!

Stay safe and be kind.

Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley and of course me.

Ah he kept still for that photo Di, what a funny little fellow he is so adorable.
Love too Lynnes stamp for the Ruby memory challenge but if I play I’ll decline it .. as cute as it is, I don’t know who I’d use it on a card for, mostly boys that age in our family and only one pet, an adult who’s besotted also, Frankie actually belongs said nephew for whom I made the get well card.
I’m struggling to get washing dry here too, it can be fun and games, another 4” almost in the gauge today too, we’re over a foot of rain this month! hope pray it goes soon.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

A great stamp although I will pass on this one to give others more of an opportunity - I really should be cutting back on crafty stash, not potentially adding to it!! I will be back later on with a 'playing for fun' Snippets card. What a lovely story about Dudley and his family of stinky monkeys - a real hoot.

Yes, please to that sweet stamp. I can see why you cried when you opened it. Dudley must have been quite surprised when he saw multiples of his babies. He's just the most adorable pup.

What a funny story about your family of monkeys, and chief cheeky monkey Dudley..lol, and he is looking very handsome after all his clipping. A beautiful stamp donated by Lynne but I will also pass on this one and leave it for someone who would get to use it more than me, and anyway I have not got an entry in at all lately which is very bad of me. I am still feeling a bit lost with everything lately and my cardmaking has been a bit random, but hopefully I will get things going again soon. x

The stamp donated by Lynne is really lovely and moving. Its sentiment is so true! Yes please for the draw if I will enter in time. I'm really busy at this moment and can't create.
Hugs and cuddles to Dudley

That is the best ever story about Dudley and his monkeys! I smiled all the way through it. It brought back memories of my first English cocker, Will, who had a little stuffed tiger that he was very attached to - carried it around all the time. Whenever I had to wash it (there was only one tiger), he'd run to the washing machine with me, watch it go in with all the other dog toys, towels, etc., run to watch me take it out and move it to the dryer, and then, joy of joys, be right there ready to take it from me when it came out of the dryer. He overlapped with my second English cocker, Shea, for several years and she could play with any other toy, but never the tiger, and she respected that and never did pick up his tiger. Even though I have my wonderful Tessa, I miss dear old Will and Shea so much.

Oh my gosh! The adventures of Dudley just crack me up. I love reading them. [Bunny]

Yes Please to this heartwarming stamp set and thank you to Lynne for donating it to the toy box. Our Toby is over 15 1/2 years old now and we are preparing ourselves for a day when he'll no longer be with us...so this stamp has even more meaning.
Thank you so much for giving me a big laugh today with your story of Dudley and his assortment of stinky monkeys. One Stinky Monkey is already almost too much to take in (with that neon colored face and green fur, haha!). Seeing the three extra monkeys all laying out on a tray as if they're at the tanning salon, had me falling out of my chair. They lack the robust fluffiness that Stinky Monkey the Sixth is so obviously showing off, but I'm sure they'll be just as handsome once dried. Sweet Dudley seems to know that they need extra attention, and is making sure that you and Len don't take off with them. His haircut looks just wonderful, and I'm sure he feels much better without tangles and mats.

Every story you tell us about Dudley just makes him more adorable - bless!

Just playing for fun again this week

Happy Monday

Awww...love that photo of Dudley with all his Stinky Monkeys!
I love the stamp, so I'm a 'yes please' for the prize draw.
Growing up, my parents had a golden retriever called Honey who was born a couple of days before me. I don't know what were my parents thinking...a puppy AND a newborn!?!? Anyway, it was the best...she and I were inseparable - all of my baby and toddler photos involve me stitting on or laying on top of Honey, and she didn't care!

Just linked up my card using a lot of scraps and recycled items. I hope you like it - I went with more of a vintage style for something different. I am happy to honour Ruby's Memory and would be a "yes" to the cute prize - thank you so much! Having just lost two cats in the past 5 months, I can understand the grief that Lynne is experiencing after losing her precious Ruby, such a sweetie. Dudley is a sweetie as well! What an adorabe photo and fun story! I imagine he keeps you laughing a lot - pets are such a joy! Stay well, dear Di!

I am rolling on the floor laughing at the photo of Sir Dudley! How very precious! And what a sweet daddio he'd make, watching over his babies! I just linked up and am sorry, but it's a cat card! lol Don't tell Dudley. I would love to play for the super adorable prize. I love StampingBella images. I only have one and it's a Halloween image that I love.

Dudley looks so cute watching over his babies! I love that stamp - I can see why you cried - but I'll say "no thanks" and give others who can actually colour images a better chance at it! Hope you and Len are keeping safe and well, hugs Kate!

Yes, I'd love the cute doggie stamp. And yes, your Dudley is quite the character and I love him as much as Willie! Love how you share his stories.

What a wonderful prize Lynne has donated and I suspect she may have shed a tear or two over that stamp set too. It's a yes please from me for the draw.
I'm delighted to hear that Connie is recuperating and how lovely to send her a birthday surprise from the playground!
I was much amused by the Dudley story. He must think they are multiplying and that you humans have just not been on top of things so he has to take charge himself! What a great job you have done with his grooming. He looks very neat and tidy! Vicky xx

Love joining in your Snippets challenge Di.. sometimes I have more snippets than cards finished. And I do so much love hearing about Dudley, he's looking 'neat'. Our pets are such company, sad to read of Ruby's passing. Robyn - just playing for fun

Hello Di, Hope you're doing well. It's always a treat to read about Dudley and all our furry friends who bless our lives SO much. It's amazing how much we grow to love them and their daily "shenanigans". My miniature schnauzer, Belle, sends her love from Las Vegas. I'll play along for the prize this time - it's a real cute one. Thanks again for the fun challenge. Take care, my creative friend.
Blessings,
