My trip to the hairdresser went well, albeit slightly stressful. They have lots of precautions in place and I feel loads better - literally as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders :) What was a bit irritating was the arrival of the person who had an appointment following mine - quarter of an hour before she was due. What part of 'try to have limited contact' didn't she understand? I suppose at least she was wearing a mask! Sometimes I feel as if I'm turning into a Grumpy Old Woman, sigh.
Anyhow, let's dive straight in with my picks from the previous challenge - and we have a *Gold Star* winner this time:
This has to be one of the most amazing cards I've ever seen! Charlotte made it and if you look closely at the centre it's a 'reveal card' where, when you move the tab on the right, the centre opens up a bit like the aperture in front of a camera lens. It's used up a good few snippets and I think almost broke Charlotte's resolve when she was making it - but she kept on going and ended up with a masterpiece! That opening mechanism looks so incredibly complicated - if you hop over to Charlotte's blog post HERE you can see the aperture opened up - and there's also a great video of the whole process. I love watching Charlotte's videos - always really well explained and she has such a soothing voice. Feel free to collect your *Gold Star* winner badge from the RH side bar Charlotte - very well deserved.
Love this really cute card, brought to share with us by Karen L. It's another card using little snippets to make up a character - and I also think it's so fresh looking!
I chose this card, made by Chris, as it uses a good few snippets and also sums up Autumn so well. Wonderfully colouring too, along with some 'schparkle' of course ☺.
We also had one new Playmate:
Helen F |
I've had this fabulous stamp in my box of NBUS goodies for absolutely ages, and now I'm even more scared to use it - having seen what a wonderful job Helen did with her colouring!
Welcome to the Playground Helen - hope to see you playing along with us in future challenges.
We had 44 entries in total and of course one new Playmate, thank you everyone who came to play!
Now for the prize draw, which is a Cheery Lynn die called 'Santa's Laundry' plus a 6" x 6" paper pad by My Mind's Eye called 'Something Wicked'. And the winner is:
Congratulations Liz! Please send me your address, even if you know that I know it already, with your full name at the top as well so I can copy and paste for speed and ease. It's also confirmation that you still would like the prize of course and I'll do my best to post your prize ASAP this coming week. Please put Playground Winner or similar in the subject line of your email in case it drops into my junk mail. Email address is on RH sidebar as always.
I'm doing a 'post box' trip out in the car on Monday so if I hear from you in time I'll post your prize then Liz!
Remember folks, there's still another week to run on Challenge #389 HERE and the prize is a set of Lawn Fawn's 'Be Hap-pea' stamps with matching dies.
Dudley is still very much in love with our Post Lady! There's no doubt he would trot off after her given half a chance! How far he would go is another matter though - hopefully not far, but we're not going to even try that one! He's curled up under the desk with one paw gently resting on one of my feet at the moment. Method in the madness there though - if I so much as move my foot it's his' wake up call' ready to follow me. Bit unnerving if you're perched on the loo and the door gently opens and there's a pair of doggy eyes with a black button nose peeping at you!
Since his check up at the vet, Dudley's been on a bit of a 'longer walks and less treats' regime. He only has a little bit of weight to lose but we want to nip it in the bud and we're already seeing results as he's lost 250 grammes, with the same amount left to go. We still dangle him from the luggage scales by his harness, poor little sausage! We're not talking big numbers I know - but proportionately it means he's really responded well to the increased exercise as well as reduced treats. We also have high hopes of possibly getting him to eat his kibble much more positively - along with a dish of carrots and mange tout to nibble at ........... and very reduced treats. It was a shock to read the fat content of some of the most innocuous treats I must admit. 20% fat? I don't think that's very healthy so I've bought a book about making your own doggy treats as well as some biscuit cutters (the treats all freeze well apparently - which is good else, I'd be selling them in our local Saturday morning market in the pub car park!) and will be baking bone shaped biscuits just as soon as the final ingredients arrive in our next grocery order. Interestingly, I can easily do a taste test on anything I bake for his treats - which has to be a good thing surely. And to be honest, Dudley has adapted to the change and a stricter regime better then we have!
This photo was taken back in March and it still makes me smile ☺. The 'Stinky Monkey' toy has been sneakily replaced with a duplicate whilst he was out with Len a week or two ago and I could do a quick swap. So he's now onto 'Stinky Monkey the Fifth'!
Don't forget it's October's Rudolph Days Challenge over at ScrappyMo's - it runs from today until the end of the month.
If you haven't come across the new 'Let's Squash It' challenge which encourages you to use your embossing folders, do check out my post of Friday 23rd which explains more and also has a link to the challenge itself.
And I hope, those of you who needed to, remembered to change your clocks - 'Fall back' - by one hour.
Love from Parsnip, a happy 'high-five' and woof from Dudley - and of course hugs as always from me. Stay safe, wear those masks - and keep on crafting.
Great picks as usual. Congrats to all.
ReplyDeletePoor Dudley. Some of us can understand that we need to walk more also and knock off some of those treats. I crack up about stinky monkey. I'm telling you now, you better purchase them in mass quantity before they quit selling them.
Having the dog come into the loo reminds me of a friend whose little dog slept in the bathroom cabinets. He loved it there. Quire a shock when he came out and you didn't know he was in there. Our friends can be so funny sometimes.

Great picks! Always fun reading Dudley stories & the picture is so cute! I know what you mean about a few pounds being a lot for little dogs. Now that he has prescription diet I don't have to feel guilty that I never did make treats for him! Luckily they make his food as treats, too. Basically the same, but a different shape & we call them cookies. He buys it--haha! Glad you got the haircut. Eventually I'll get another one, but I've gone back to doing the color myself with hubby's help! Just makes me too nervous to be so close to her for that long. I know she isn't as careful as we are & cases are rising here, too. If only people would do the right thing, but apparently that's asking too much! Think we'll be isolated a long time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Liz on being the winner this time and a lovely surprise to see my card was one of your picks - thanks. I did enjoy making it despite the 'fiddle factor' involved and it gave me a lift to see it showcased.
ReplyDeleteGreat picks (al always!) and congrats to the winner!
ReplyDeleteI have just posted a card on my blog today, but I am too late for entering....
Dudley is the best friend you can have, just as we think about our Tom!
Stay safe!!
Lia xx
Ooh! Thank you so much for choosing me as a pick! I am sooooo chuffed! Congratulations to the other fabulous winners and the awesome gold star! What staying power Charlotte has! I have a reveal die set but have not been brave enough to use it yet. Well done braving the hairdresser, I am looking decidedly odd as I won't go! I need to have less treats and more exercise too! Lol! Dudley is being good. Take care and stay safe my friend. Hugs xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteLovely picks, as ever, and I shall go and watch the Gold Star video shortly. Congrats to all the showcased cards and hello to the newbie!
ReplyDeleteChuckling at that picture of Dudders being weighed! You can just feel the rolled eyes and the sigh coming off him at the indignity of it all!
Good luck with making his doggie treat biscuits . . . don't do too much taste testing, or you'll have to limit your doggie treats too! LOL!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Morning Die fabulous picks as always and congratulations to Liz enjoy your win....nice to know your hairdresser has all the safety in order for customers 15 minutes is a long time to be waiting and at least had a mask on but part of the rules is not turning up earlier than your time ...just look at Dudley he’s so cute stay safe enjoy your day x
ReplyDeleteAfter being AWOL for the last couple of weeks, what a lovely surprise to see that I'm the winner this fortnight. Thank you, Di! I love your choice of picks, especially the well-deserved Gold Star. I'll be off to check out the video. I'll send you an email with my address. xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Liz and all the winners. Gorgeous and inspiring cards all. Di, I had to laugh at your Hairdresser caution. I have an appointment on Monday and I was so stressed I called her to insist she is wearing a mask. She said she was going to call me and insist the same. She also only has one person in the shop at a time and will ask anyone coming early to wait in the car. Sad times we live in that's for sure. Here in the US masks are not mandated. I just can't understand why people are fighting them. Medical reason yes, but if you are that compromised maybe someone could shop for you. Or take part in stores offering curb side pick up. Off the soap box.....I'm still having trouble commenting on some sites....but I sure do like visiting them for all the inspiration, Thanks Di for hosting a place to be inspired. Wishing you a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteWonderful picks, and congrats to the "chosen" as they're all wonderful. As for Dudley, poor doggo that has to hang! He looks like he's taking it in stride tho!
ReplyDeletePoor Dudley has to be on a diet ;(.... and I LOVE your picks! Helen's Hedgie is sooo cute! Maddie is getting jealous of this post lady :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Liz!
Fabulous picks Di and congratulations to Liz too. Glad your trip to the hairdressers was okay - we're going into hibernation mode this week as it's half term and there are loads of people down here "'cus it's safer here than home'!
ReplyDeleteKath x
Such fabulous pics!! I'm very impressed especially by Charlotte's card mechanism, thanks for the link, I will go to see the process.
ReplyDeleteBig congrats to Liz!!
Poor Dudley, hearing about less treats at Halloween time isn't a good notice LOL :D His eyes in the photo speak a lot. :)
Hugs and cuddles to him
Thanks for the heads up about the fat content in dog treats - I've never thought to check. But will do now as the vet warned me not to let Tessa get any heavier as she was at the top end of acceptable at her last appointment. Love the photo of Dudley dangling from the luggage scales!!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks of cards from the last challenge!
A trip to the hairdresser right now is stressful, but glad that they have lots of precautions in place. It is people who have no common sense that is the problem, like the lady that came early. Most place want you coming right on time, not early to avoid the overlaps. No common sense here in the states with people either. Drives me nut and why I stay under my rock! I am glad to hear this lady was wearing a mask though. That is so needed and the main thing we need to do besides avoiding crowds.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte's card is amazing for sure. I've seen these "shutter" dies before and think they are so cool. I know Helen Griffith designed a die that does this too. Just amazing. Great pic for sure! Love all the other pics as well, how fun to have a new playmate join the Playground! Love her cute card. A big congrats to Liz as well.
I have to chuckle as our dogs bark something awful at the post lady. They see her 7 days a week, why they have to bark is beyond me but it drive me nuts. I get up and slam the door shut so they can't see her. Of course starting today, it has gotten to be more normal temps, so to cool to have the door open. Our dogs are the same, they have to rest on your feet and move, well that is their cue to get up and follow you. I have yet to be able to use the loo or even shower on my own. Eyes are all on me. lol
I had to chuckle at Dudley getting weighed. He is such a good sport just hanging there. lol Such a handsome boy for sure! Sounds like he is doing well with his weight loss. Yep, some treats are so high in calories and fat. I have dog bones too, but have yet to make them treats yet. Need to remember to get a few items. But I plan on making them myself for the "kids".
We change our clocks next weekend. Oh joy! lol Sending love to Parsnip, Dudley and to you Di. Wearing my mask here, but mostly staying in!
Hugs,
Brenda
Congrats to all the winners xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat picks this time Di and Lady Joyful certainly deserved her gold star, as it was a difficult to achieve creation but she persevered as can be seen on her video, and it turned out beautifully also very pretty makes from Val, Karen L and Chris, and lovely to see new playmate Helen too. Congratulations to Liz for winning the lovely prize this time. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picks Di, and some amazing work amongst them!
ReplyDeleteI too am feeling light headed after a haircut today. Thankfully we don't have the issues you do over there, but people here are becoming too complacent for my liking, so I will be staying close to home in the future....
Loving that wee Dudley is liking his revised diet and exercise plan, and his weight is responding too.
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Any Dudley post has me falling about with laughter, he looks so resigned hanging from the luggage scale! It almost made me forget that amazing camera card what an absolute stunner it is. Well now there are links to be followed so congratulations to all your top picks, enjoy the rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Dudley just made my day. Wonderful selection of top picks.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Oh my goodness, thank you so so much for the gold star pick, Di! I am so happy <3 Congratulations to all the other picks too. Beautiful projects.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Dudley is so sweet! Poor thing :D I hope his diet goes well. One of our cats is on a permanent diet. He is food obsessed and gets really hangry if he thinks he isn't getting enough!
