Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 309 and 310 - results

We're on the final countdown to the big day now - only a week left to go folks.

Bearing that in mind, I didn't ask anyone to be a Guest Designer for this coming fortnight - am sure there are more pressing things to be getting on with!

However, instead of a GD, there's an extra giveaway which will run for the next two weeks only. Closing time for entries is exactly at midnight (Sunday 31st December) as we swing into 2018. I'll use the Random Number generator to select the winners (you'll have to trust me as no way am I doing a screen capture, edit and then adding it into the blog post - times 20!) and I'll post the winners names during the first week of 2018. In order to enter, just add your name only to Mr Linky below - no snippets card is required. And the Mr Link is only for use with the prize(s) I've written about below. I do ask that you're already an active Snippets Playmate (no new people please).

A while ago, when I was moaning about a little ink smudge on a card I published here, Pat mentioned that the very talented Jennifer McGuire (who I always think is a great source of crafting advice) had been singing the praises of a Tombow 'Sand Eraser'. Well, you know me - off I hopped and ordered some to try out. They're quite small but should last for a while and they're great for removing little ink smudges and other 'glitches' such as even a little biro streak. They won't shift the likes of Pro markers (as you know, those alcohol inks soak right into card) but for surface marks they work brilliantly! And they don't scuff the surface of your card or paper - so long as you don't go at it hammer and tongs - slowly does it! And, as Greta rightly says, be patient and wait until any ink marks/smudges are dry, otherwise you risk spreading them further.

This is what they look like:
I was so pleased with mine that I have 20 of these to give away - partly as it's Christmas of course and also to celebrate that it's coming up to six whole years since I took the Snippets Playground over from the lovely Jules.

I actually got these at a really good price (no longer available) back in September. Something tells me that they might even have advertised the price wrongly (ie. way too low) as they're going for silly money elsewhere!

Am happy to post anywhere - so if you fancy trying one of these very useful little erasers out - just add yourself into Mr Linky at the end of this post.

This giveaway is in addition to, as well as totally separate to any other Christmas snippets linked prizes I may find time to offer over the holidays (on top of the usual fortnightly prize which will appear next Sunday as usual) - so I do recommend that you take a peek here over the holidays to see just what might unexpectedly pop up on offer :)

Time for the fortnightly picks now:
How about this for one very clever Christmas wreath?! Brought to share by Lesley - and apparently they take hours to make. Not surprised, but so worth it!

Fikreta (also known as Fiki/Bad Kitty) has been making shaker tags and also has a really helpful video on her blog over HERE. Such a great idea - one for next year as time just ain't on my side right now!

And finally, I just had to pick this fabulous card - made by Elizabeth. What I love so much about it is the fact that it's the negatives of the die cuts - a stunning result with the white against that pretty blue!

We had a total of 53 entries and no new Playmates joining in the fun. So, after watching numbers slide down, they're on the up again - even when we're all so busy.

Prize draw time now and our winner of the Woodware 'Huge Santa' stamp set and the unbranded 'Ho, ho, ho' stamp set is:

Well done Helen! I think it's a good while since you last won a prize so this is well overdue. Can you please drop me an email with your address and I'll post your prize off to you as soon as possible. My email address is on the right hand side bar.

Keep those snippets entries coming folks, you still have a week left to play HERE for weeks 311/312 remember! The prize is a Lil'Inker Designs 'Christmas Words Tree' die .

Love from the little white peril Parsnip (who is hopping up and down making lists, fretting and also whimpering now and then as he finalises things for Christmas). Do we really need me to make four dozen of my special sausage rolls I wonder? He's a little terror and ought to be locked up for December - I think! But I do love him to pieces of course :)

  1. Congratulations to Helen! Fabulous picks! I have made a ribbon wreath too! I haven't blogged it yet - it similar to Lesley's but I didn't copy it, honest! I will be adding my name to Mister Linky - thank you so much for the chance to win one of those magic little erasers! Hugs xxxxxxx

    1. I just realised it was Lesley's wreath I got my ribbon wreath idea from so I did copy! Oops! I had seen it and forgotten where! I am so glad I have realised cause when I blog it, I can give Lesley credit for the idea! I was a bit squiffy last night when I first commented - had been to my friend next door for cocktails! Hic! Hugs xxxxxx

    2. Oh Chris, you little tinker! Not about the wreath - we all do that sort of thing and forget just where we got inspiration - but for getting a little pickled. Which in fact I bet we all do now and then as well - even Parsnip! Thank you so much for the lovely Christmas card BTW!

      Hugs

  2. Congratulations to Helen and the three wonderful highlighted cards and thank you for the shout out re. the sand eraser. I use mine quite often and since you very kindly made me a gift of one for imparting the information in the first place Di I will not be adding my name to the linky. x

  3. Now I want to try a sausage roll so you might as well make another dozen. I haven't played in a while so I won't be playing for a prize but it's really sweet of you to offer them and send them out. [Bunny]

  4. Wonderful picks, as always! I kept seeing Jennifer talk about the sand eraser & I found them on-line with free shipping--all the way from Japan! It took forever, but they eventually came (2 when I thought it would be 1) & I do love it. Just be sure the ink is dry & like you said, go slow & not too heavy handed. I sent my extra one to a friend. Great prize for 20 lucky playmates! Happy Holidays, Di!

  5. Ah Miss you really are kind re the sand erasers ..by 20!!! That’s totally generous... but I shall decline,

I have one, bought after seeing Jennifer McGuire saying how good they are, but really found they’re rathe like an ink eraser, like we had at school and I still have several and also another eraser used in Calligroany for removing inky mistakes which I also have, so definitely don’t need another, but of course I had to try one, didn’t i?
Big congrats re your six whole years, I can’t believe that was six years ago, seems like yesterday!!
And glad numbers are up, read interesting post on Marianne’s blog yesterday abou the changing face of blogging.
Love and prayers from very warm summery Oz.. and no Parsnip you definitely do not NEED that many sausage rolls, you’ll turn into one at that rate!
Big congrats too, to all the playground friends. Aren’t they ever so clever!!?

  9. Congratulations to Helen and to the top picks! I have to say that I'm very intrigued by these sand erasers...because smudges of ink are all too common when I start crafting!

  10. Who doesn't get inky smudges, especially on CAS projects??? What a generous offer and so kind of you to think of us - six years is a long time to run a challenge blog, such dedication! Don't overwork yourself in the run up to the Big Day!! I won't be pinching one of Parsnip's sausage rolls (I'm veggie).

Those little erasers look really useful, it's so frustrating when you suddenly notice a little ink smudge! Thanks for the chance to win one. xx

  29. Thanks for the chance at the eraser Di, I have just bought a Tombow's "Zero Eraser" which is a SUPER fine eraser in a pen holder (well it's 2.3mm, which is between 1/8" and 1/16" so pretty fine) and I've got to say it's FAB (hubby thinks I'm a nutcase getting all excited about an eraser, lol) that's only for pencil though... this inky job sounds FAB too, as my mistakes are invariably inky ones, Donna xx

Had to remove and edit my previous comment as I looked up what 2.3mm is in "old money" and it's about 1/12" and I had guessed at 1/8", which is positively GIANT, lol

    1. Ha! I work best in 'old money' as well Donna. In old money the ones I have on offer measure approx. 2.5" long x 0.75 " wide and 0.25" thick. Just realised that's a right mix of old money and decimal :) x
