Graduation card

My friend Angie's grand daughter has her graduation ceremony coming up in July, yay! And I offered to make a graduation card when we were chatting at Stratford the other week. Nikki is a dancer, very graceful and talented, so I showed Angie the humming bird card I posted on here a while back and she thought that a variation on it would be perfect.

This is what I made:
I used:

- 5" x 7" white card blank, side opening

- piece of pink card, trimmed to just slightly smaller than the card front and glued in place

- piece of white card stock, trimmed to just slightly smaller than the pink layer, embossed using a Crafts-Too 'Lattice' die and glued in place

- on a piece of scrap white card, I stamped the humming bird image using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and the Inkadinkadoo 'Humming Bird' stamp

- added the sentiment 'Happy graduation' using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and a sentiment from the Clearly Besotted 'Say what?' set of 31 really useful little sentiment stamps, covering almost all occasions

- next I coloured the image using Pro markers, using a dollop of artistic licence as Nikki's favourite colours are pink and blue :)

- then die cut the image using a Tonic Studios plain circle die, and ran a ball tool around wrong side of the edge before removing from the die

- die cut a slightly larger circle using a 'Stitched Circles' die from The Works and glued the image onto it

- the sentiment is called 'Learn to Fly', which I just love, by Inkylicious - stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink onto a piece of the same pink card

- die cut the sentiment using one of my MFT 'Stitched Fishtail Flag STAX' dies, (to add more rigidity to the pink flag I also cut a white flag the same and glued it to the back) then trimmed off the straight end

- glued the image panel along with the sentiment flag in place on the front of the card

-final touch, which looks so shimmery in real life, a covering of clear Wink of Stella over the image!

Thankfully I managed to get this made and posted off during our mini-heatwave - had two fans blowing away in the craft room so it was a bit of a game making sure stuff didn't take flight - ha, along with the hummer of course :)
