Modern Christmas tree

Modern in my eyes (although my in-house critic used the BIG and very grown-up word 'contemporary' when he saw it). The blue is so like traditional 'Wedgwood Blue' - and I found it in the snippets folder:
I used:

- A6 pearlescent white card blank

- iridescent silver card, topped with a layer of pearlised white card which had been embossed using SU's 'Square Lattice' folder

- the tree was made in two layers, one using white pearlescent card and a Memory Box 'Winterland' tree die then the backing layer used the Wedgwood blue card snippet and the matching 'Winterland Background' die. I've had the scrolled 'Winterland' die for ages but only recently got the background die - that finally spurred me into using a die I'd always been wary of :) I can now see loads of combinations and uses for these - wahoo, money well spent

- the 'tub' for the tree was punched using SU's 'Large Oval', and the bottom trimmed flat

- sentiment is by Craftwork Cards, mounted onto the very last of that lovely blue card

- three clear sparkly gems in the bottom right corner

I'm entering this into the current Jolly Holly challenge, which is 'Oh Christmas Tree' this week. It's a new challenge to me and looks like good fun.

And it's also for Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for November, where it's always 'Anything Goes' .

Doubled up wiv me back here right now, but will add more to tomorrow's post about today's tree in reply to some comments already left. See you then - grin, I might be lying on the floor typing though!

  2. Yummo, that Wedgewood blue with the white is scrumpdiddlyicious, Di! Could you show us sometime what you mean by the two dies? I think I get it ... saves you piecing back in the cut out bits? But I'm not sure. Whatever you did, it's fantastic!! Hugs, Darnell

  10. Oh no! I hope your back feels better soon.
Years ago I had a doctor who believed in lying on the floor...I know you prolly meant it as a joke...but he was serious...and his advice sometimes did help. You lie on the floor and put your knees over the arm of the couch so that your feet are close to the couch cushions. You sort of look like you are in traction from the knees.
It does help depending on what is wrong...I had more than a 50% chance of improvement using his theory. About 20 minutes if I remember correctly.

Your card is lovely. That is a fabulous EF by the way.
Love your MB tree with the double layers...it is very elegant looking.
I have ne more crafty project to submit to Pixies and then I am off to try to make a stamped image Christmas card before the gates close!

  11. Sore back = ouch! I empathize with you, as my back sometimes takes on a mind of its own, announcing its presence most clearly. And we won't even discuss the sciatic nonsense! Typing whilst prone on the floor = recipe for a GREAT photo!! Your lovely Wedgewood blue double cut swirled tree is stunning! the pearlescent paper border + the embossed background complements it beautifully. Gorgeous! Thank you x 10000 for your encouraging, delightful and hilarious comments on my three-card post today. You sure know how to make a newcomer feel welcome! Day officially given 'sparkle' status, all because of you!! Hugs!

  12. WARNING: --ooh, oooh, more enabling. When I get a chance, I'm hunting to see if I have the MB die, cuz I know I don't have the background one! This is just beautiful with your pearl paper and the WW blue. You're just a genius with the colors. Contemporary..yep, so 'tis. I'm trying to catch up on reciprocal comments, then will try to get back to enjoy some Playground time. I saw some beauties..but no time to linger. TFS & Hugs

  14. Try again, don't know where my first comments went.
Fabulous card and I love the shimmer paper of the pot looks really great and while I have this die I have never really used because the tree always looked to be floating on air and thicko me never thought of putting a pot under it. I shall view this die in a different light in future and may get some of my moneys worth from it.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

Has Len tried walking on your back, thanks supposed to be good!.
