Those of you who've been reading my posts during the Grand Draw will know that I'm introducing a couple of extra ways of running the Snippets Challenge. One will be a Guest Designer fortnight where they will provide the prize and also make a sample using their own duplicate of the prize - much as I did each time.
The basic Snippets Playground rules are just the same so, to you the players, the only difference will be that I will be showing a snippets item (usually a card of course) made by a GD rather than myself and also it will be a pointer to a prize very kindly donated by themselves. I won't write up how the snippets card or item was made and if you wish to know more there will be a link to the Guest Designer's blog. In fact, it would be lovely if you could make a point of hopping over to their blog post via the link as they will be very kindly spending time making the sample as well as providing the prize. Of course I will have my own fortnights interspersed which will run as they always did although the Guest Designer challenge will be a huge help to me. The numbering will still run consecutively and in time we should move seamlessly from one type of challenge to another and back again without you really noticing.
BTW I haven't forgotten that we will also have a Ruby's Memory Challenge at intervals. One coming soon!
But for now let's start off with our Guest Designer's card:
Any guesses who our Guest Designer is? A clue, she lives not so far from me - has a quirky sense of humour and is partial to any sort of snarky sentiment to liven up her cards and make you smile.
It's our lovely Jane Willis! And to find out how she made her card (possibly) just follow THIS LINK.
Here's a photo of the stamp set on offer from Jane:
It's a 'Hunkydory For the Love of Stamps 'set called 'Retro Mix Tape'. Absolutely perfect for a card to be sent to anyone from that era. Which doesn't seem all that long ago to some of us, sigh, groan.
As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks
and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 23rd January.
The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same
day.
It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Yes Please to this very fun prize offered by Jane. I am among those who was very familiar with cassettes, back in the day (and records and record players before that..oh my). Jane's card is just wonderful, and so colorful. The design of the sentiment is obviously influenced by the slippery tape that would all to often begin to unravel from the cassette...causing much angst among music lovers everywhere. I am off to check out Jane's blog for all the details once I leave my comment here.
ReplyDeleteYour description of how it feels to become a shelf for dog toys had me in stitches Di. Our Toby never played much with toys, and still doesn't, so I don't know what it's like to have wake up to a parade of dog toys in my bed. Smart Dudley to make you serve double duty as comfy pillow and organizer!
Oh my goodness that is so funny about Dudley! I can just picture the scene!
ReplyDeleteAhem, now I’ve stopped laughing.......what a fabulous card and fabulous prize, nice one Jane.....methinks I will have to make a snippets card for this one please :) xxx
Great that you have some volunteers to help you out and this is a super card which would suit any rockers - old or young!! Another endearing Dudley story, he is certainly a character. Just about to post my card with a YES PLEASE.
ReplyDeletePopped over to Jane's blog to congratulate her on being first of the mystery GD crew. Great card & prize.
ReplyDeleteFlipping freezing here -3 feeling like -5 currently! No wonder Dudley us snuggling up to keep warm as I expect its similarly cold for you.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Happy new year Di, how gorgeous is Janes card and congratulations to Jane for being your first guest designer she has made a great start to the new year with an adorable card love the stamps too they are so adorable l am only playing for fun .....l just love hearing about the fun Dudley is providing for you and Len he's such a cutie not so warm here either and we have the rain again take care and stay safe xx
ReplyDeleteA lovely card from Jane and the GD spot will help you a lot too Di. Please don't include me in the draw for these stamps - I'll be playing for fun only this time.
ReplyDeleteKath x
A Fabulous card from Jane, love the retro. Dudley sounds like my departed Cavalier who loved being on me when I slept!
ReplyDeleteKeep safe
Faith x
Gorgeous card and lovely prize. Thanks Jane and Yes please to be included in the draw. Dudley wouldn't have a hope with me as I am a very restless sleeper. Nice for the extra warmth on these one dog nights. Snowing here today. Yuk!! Take care. Have a lovely sunday. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI like your card, it's so cute, so YES for the prize, please :-)
ReplyDeleteI also like reading about Dudley, such fun stories ;-)
Hugs, Majda
What a fun card! I most definitely remember cassette tapes...my first album purchase was Nirvana 'Nevermind' on cassette back in 1991 - I played it so much it stretched and I had to buy another! That album is still one of my all time favourites, and I'm still listening to it (albeit in a more updated format!) 30 years later!
ReplyDeleteI will be back with a snippets make later...am off to visit Jane's blog for the details...
Helen x
Congrats to Jane on being a GD! Her card is super cute! I still have some of my old cassettes and even a couple cassette players to play them haha - I get a kick out of the kids today that don't even know what a cassette is. Love the fab prize - I'm a YES, PLEASE! I just visited Jane's blog and left her some love. I'll be back to join in with a Snippets card at some point!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Maddie does the same thing... she always needs to be touching me in someway when we sleep... she usually cuddles up under my chin! Great card! Looking forward to the Grand Draw! I will not be going for the prize today.
ReplyDeleteHi Di! I'm so glad you now have assistants/assistance! It does take quite the pressure off. I'm not playing for the prize but I just wanted to say hello.
ReplyDeleteLove your account of Dudley lining up all his precious toys on top of you at night! Tessa doesn't do that but she does snuggle up close to me on cold nights.
ReplyDeleteDo you need any more Guest Designers? I'm organizing my stamps and have found some duplicates so would be happy to be one of your Guest Designers and offer up a prize.
A super card made by Jane and with a lovely prize donated by her as well which is great and so lovely for you Di to have a few people to spread the load occasionally. I do remember cassettes of course and love the red and white used for the stamped strip and the inset piece on the cassette and a great sentiment too. If I get to play it will be just for fun this time Di. Dudley's antics made me smile..fancy waking up with his toys lined up on top of you..lol. x
ReplyDeleteGreat that some girl are helping you with the samples and prizes! This card from Jane is just amazing, how much memories...Time flies too fast! Sigh :|
ReplyDeleteSurely Dudley keep you (and himself) so warm at night! :)
Yes, please to the prize. Super cute card. I've hopped over to Jane's blog to become a follower and share a sweet memory her card brought up. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so wonderful and nostalgic card. I love it.
ReplyDeleteYes for the prize, please.
Valerija xx
How fun!! I'd love to win this groovy stamp set.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another fun challenge. Gotta use those snippets.
Blessings,
Karen
I entered and yes please for the fun stamp. I have already commented (after Megan) but don't see my comment. Perhaps there is the approval way. Hope that it doesn't been lost by blogger
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card. I am aging myself but I grew up with cassette tapes and love this card. Please include me in the drawing for the prize since I can send this image to a tonne of people who would appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jane on her GD spot and her fun card. I remember using these cassettes and also having a pencil handy to rewind the tape when it came out - which it often did! Thanks to Jane for offering the prize and I'm a Yes Please to have my name in the hat. I loved reading about Dudley and his toys, it seems he might have OCD! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Di - will add my entry later - just wanted to say the retro card is fabulous - popped over to Jane's blog for the deets - very organised lady...
ReplyDeleteI would love to receive the prize if lucky enough x
Hope you, Len & Dudley are safe and well... Cheers Maurs xxx
A huge thank you to Jane for guest designing and providing such an awesome prize at the Playground this fortnight. Wonderful LO on her fun card! Love the sentiment with the tape ends dangling in loose coils after being extricated from the player that had "eaten" it. It took me a minute to remember the term we used for that! Yes, please, for putting my name in the hat this time around.
ReplyDeleteI chuckled at Dudley sleeping next to you with his toys lined up on you. I had a kitty who loved to play fetch. I was working night shift at that time. During the day, as I slept, she would bring her toys onto the bed to try to engage me in a game of fetch. When I woke, there would a half dozen or more catnip mice, milk rings, etc along with her sound asleep beside me. So sweet. She's been gone for many years, but my current cats pile on and around me at night esp in the cool weather. It's not unusual to wake up in the night feeling paralyzed because I have a cat on my feet, a cat on my legs, and a cat on my stomach! <3 <3 <3
Thank you for another fun challenge!! I'm on my way to Jane's to say hello and check out the details of her card.
Stay healthy and creative!!

A lovely card from Jane with a fun retro feel to it. I will pop over to her blog next. Dudley is such a character! I must admit though when they cuddle up dogs are like a hot water bottle :) . Just added my card, but will be playing for fun this time. Have a good week xx
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jane on being the first GD with such a fabulous card and a super prize.... but I'll say 'no thanks'
ReplyDeleteDudley is certainly growing up to be a very clever and cheeky (is Parsnip training him?) xx
Great card from Jane and I'm glad you're getting help, Di. I know how much work running a challenge is and I'm always grateful when things run smoothly xoxo
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it? I entered a card! I would love to be in the draw so YES! please.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
Lovely card and even lovelier story about Dudley and his toys all sleeping with you! Too funny. I'm off to visit Jane's blog. :-D
ReplyDeleteJust come to play for fun. CarolG
ReplyDeleteGreat card. Yes please for the prize.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Chantal S
How lovely of Jane! Between my six-week break from blogging and my back, I missed any call you had for help and I'm so sorry. As the year proceeds, please throw my hat in the ring for being a Guest Designer whenever you need me. Thank you for the darling Christmas card with sweet polar bear friends watching Santa and his sleigh! Love and hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOh... I would have so much fun creating with this fun set. Thanks, Jane, for providing inspiration with your great cards. Yes, please if my name is drawn! (PS I still have a drawer full of cassette tapes... but nothing to play them on. When my player died I discovered how expensive they are to replace since they are not considered "vintage." Ha!)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! Way to delegate! And it looks like you have a lot of helpers! Looking forward to another awesome year of crafting and challenges! Happy crafting to all,💗
ReplyDeleteFun, retro stamp & card! Love your Dudley story, as always, Di! Please leave me out of the drawing.
ReplyDeleteYes please to this prize. Well, I guess I'm officially old now because I remember playing music on cassettes when I was young. We were using CD's by the time I got to high school but I still have some of my old cassettes sitting around to show my own kids.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being a guest designer Jane, and for bringing a little rock and roll to the playground!
Hi Di what a lovely card Jane has made. I love reading about Dudley. I am here just for fun this time. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun retro card from Jane - I actually still have some of my cassettes as my old Pontiac has both a cassette and CD player which I still use! Hah! wishing you, Len and Dudley a most happy and healthy new year in 2021. I'm playing just for fun as I'm trying so hard to purge my massive supplies a little bit at a time! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove Jane's card - I'm just playing for fun as I have a similar stamp set. a lot of artists are once again releasing their music onto cassettes - it's the latest trend! Albeit in release small numbers.
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Di, I enjoyed your tale of Dudley collecting and displaying his treasure toys albeit on you whilst you sleep... I'm playing just for fun. The card Jane has made is fabulous. Have a wonderful weekend... Megan
ReplyDeleteSuch a great card and prize.
ReplyDeleteI made my card with your fantastic prize, thank you so much.
Playing just for fun.
Crafty hugs xx
thats so great card!
ReplyDeleteSmashing make from Jane, Congratulations on the GDT slot too, it's a fab prize but I'm just playing for fun this time around.
ReplyDeleteIf you still need Guest Designers and prizes then I'd be happy to help out too
Kathyk
Glad your water is back on Di somethings we can do without but not hot water enjoy your baths/showers xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, we have some camera buffs in the family so please enter me in the drawing! Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYes please Di, just love this fun retro set.....takes me back!, can see loads of ideas, and have lots of friends who would love it on their card too. Xx
ReplyDeleteYes, please include me in the prize. I made many mixed tapes (cassettes) to play in the car on road trips. Another icon of the past!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dog, sharing his toys with you!
So glad to hear the new system is working for you. Jane's card is very cute. My card uses the gap card technique Mrs. A is highlighting in the Butterfly Challenge -- I used up lots of snippets, and with this style card you end creating a new snippet with the paper cut for "the gap." Just entering for fun this go-round.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - that cassette brings back memories!
ReplyDeleteYes please for the prize
My Tessa is growing a long silky coat too. She really needs a haircut but we are supposed to have really cold weather (for Vancouver) next week so I'm holding off.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing future Guest Designers. And I'm happy to step in (and I have some good prizes as I seem to have bought several duplicate stamp from Penny Black and others) if you need more volunteers.
Yes please. I finally got my mojo working again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane and what a fun card. I had very many tapes (not all of them copied!) and how annoying it was when they got caught up in the wheels and unravelled. Happy days. Good to know this plan is helping you save time, Di. How lovely are the playmates? xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card! So nice of Jane to step in and help you out this time around! The card definitely brings me back to the 90's! I will play just for fun, this time, though, thanks!
ReplyDeleteFab card by Jane, it brings back memories from my early teens. Yes please for the prize.
ReplyDeleteKatrina x
Yes indeed, I would like the prize offered by Jane. Perfect for my grandson. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteFab card from Jane and 'Yes Please' for a chance to win the very groovy prize! Thank you Jane. How sweet Dudley is using you as Dudley's shelf while you sleep - all of you cosy at night. Take care and stay safe my friend. Hugs xxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for the challenge and yes please would love the prize

I've had a fun couple of weeks and am sad it is almost over - I've loved reading on here and on my own blog about all the memories the tape image brought back, and just before the playground gates clang closed I thought I'd share one of my own.
ReplyDeleteSunday afternoons, listening to Pick of the Pops on the radio/cassette system, with a tape in the drawer and your finger hovering over the start/stop button so that you got every note of every track in the Top 20 without any of the talking in between. Go on, tell me none of you did that - and I won't believe you!
