This was my first go yesterday:
- 6.25" x 4.25" card blank, made using SU's 'Crisp Cantaloupe' card stock
- papers from a Kaisercraft pad, free with Quick Cards Made Easy magazine called 'Sweet Pea'
- plain SU 'Pistachio Pudding' card stock
- a couple of toppers which also came free with the paper pad
- lots of cutting and sticking for the layers
BUT, as soon as it was finished, I looked long and hard, scratched my head and then slapped my forehead - really hard, several times! See what you think of the next one:
WHAT a Dumbo, I'd only written the measurements down wrongly on the how-to post which I mentioned in the link above! Basically, I didn't have enough of a difference in the size of the layers which meant that the patterned paper on the first card isn't as noticeable in the outer layers. However, the measurements have now been changed and the how-to passes muster if you fancy having a go - it's a great way to use up bold papers:)
For the second card I used:
- 6.25" x 4.25" white card blank
- papers from a Kate Knight 'Totally Tropical' paper pad - free with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine quite a while ago
- plain SU 'Coastal Cabana' card stock
- the flower is from the SU'Secret Garden' set, stamped using Memento 'Elderberry' ink onto a snippet of 'Coastal Cabana' card stock and then die cut using the matching SU 'Secret Garden' framelits die - just gently rounded with flower shaping tool and popped onto the card with a sticky pad
-teeny Mei Flower white pearls added to the flower, just 'cos it looked too 'flat'
Having said that about wrong measurements, I still quite like the first card so it hasn't ended up in the bin - phew.
Edit: as suggested by Karen, I'm adding this into Technique Time Tuesday's current challenge :)

Lovely design I've never seen done with printed papers--both cards are neat! I did put on my sunglasses for the second one--LOL!

well, I really liked #1 too, and had to look at it very hard to see what you meant about the layering. It's gorgeous, and so is #2 (which is quite festive!). I've never seen the technique done with DP & like it a lot. Tell Len he can come eat chili with us anytime, and so can you, if you fancy chili! (I'm watching too much DMartin. Picking up the vocabulary!). Truly, I love both these cards. TFS & Hugs

I have got some fairly vivid BP from magazines too. I must give this a try. I like the wider spacing, after all, you have done all the work, so we need to see it, but I prefer the first card colour-wise. But they are both fun. Kate x

ReplyDeleteTwo great cards here. I like the technique but have never got round to trying it.It is certainly a good way to use up some heavily pattered paper. I have to say The first of your cards is my favourite but only because I like the softer colours.

I love boldly patterned paper but they are usually difficult to use in a way that makes the best of them ... this technique is the perfect solution. I've completed my twist on triple stamping and submitted it to the playground ... I think we are starting a trend :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx

Ok so you got the measurements slightly wrong on the top card but it still has the triple effect look on it and I love those papers. I got the second set in me drawer of papers so must have bought the same magazine. running around like a maniac cos the recorder has gone up the swannny and wipped its complete memory clean of recorded programmes and now won't record any new ones. Having to watch everything in real time or make a note of where it is on the iplayer to watch back. The Doc has gone into overload mode. hugs Mrs A.
