I spent hours yesterday tidying, sorting, even throwing out stuff in the craft room. Boy, that hurts to do!
During my rummaging round I came across a sheet of neglected and not my favourite Penny Black Stickeroos almost at the same time as some backing card which went with them so I made these:
'Cos I struggle with vintage style cards I trotted into Len to show him and ask for an opinion - and they got his seal of approval. Ha, that could be 'cos it was almost time for dinner though :) And the light was dreadful when I took the piccies too.
I used:
- 4.75" x 4.75" square cream card stock
- backing card by Kan Ban called 'Painted Holly'
- Stickeroos from Penny Black's 'Vintage Hollies' sheet
- strips of deep red half inch diameter ribbon roses on a netting background
So, that's two cards ready for 2013 :)
I'm entering these into Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge where the theme is very open this week - either show a Christmas card you haven't previously shown on your blog or make a start on next year's.
The sorting and tidying still has some way to go here but at least everything I'd dumped on our bed has been properly put away. Somewhere to sleep is a great driver when sorting out!!
New Year's Eve already and I hope you have fun whatever you have planned. I find New Year a bit of a sad time and we always just spend it quietly - avec a glass or three of something though!
Sending you love and best wishes for a good year in 2013 with health and happiness. Forget the wealth - I know it helps but it's true that no amount of money can buy health and real happiness.
And oh my golly gosh, I just spotted that I'm almost up to 200 followers! Time for some candy I think :)

Ob dear, and these were NOT your favorites? I think they are gorgeous, and you made a lovely card. (But then I like vintage!) Really pretty and I do like this card a lot. Congrats on the nearly 200. I'm still working up to 100 (thanks to all your support & generous help!) Happy New Year, and enjoy the bubbly. See you at the Playground in the New Year. Hugs
ReplyDeleteSuper snickeoos my friend. I used the last of my flowers on net so must go to Fabric land and buy some more. Thanks for the reminder. Yep just the two of us for dinner tonight plus Jools of course. Happy New Year. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteI vote lovely...but i like vintage images...especially at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean about sorting in the craft room...I am almost done sorting through the counters, putting things away and creating new homes for Christmas crafty stuff to live in year round.
My goal is to be finished the surface stuff and the Xmas task by New Years Day. I am almost there.
Then during the New Year I want to go through every bin and drawer and re organize...I am thinking of chosing one evening a week to work just on that task...with any luck i will finish by 2014!!!yeehee

What a perfect match of sticker with paper, Di! These lovely vintage cards were meant to be!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on sorting through and cleaning out! For me it's been more fun as I've gotten older 'cause I find all kinds of stuff that I'd forgotten all about. Then I pretend someone has just sent the thing to me as a surprise ... in my slightly deranged sort of way!
We used to say this when I was a child: "It takes one to know one!" Snort! Do children say that there?
Have a cozy lie in - or hope you had! (I still can't get used to how it's tomorrow where you are when it's still today where I am.)
So. Good Morning! Happy New Year's Day!!
Hi Di,
ReplyDeletelast day in this year is in front of us. Have a nice day. Cards are gorgeous,
I now cleaning is not fun, but give a space for a new stuff sounds better.
Good luck in year 2013
Hugs Tamara :)
I find vintage cards hard to make too but I think these are lovely. You've made good use of your stickeroos. I am having a tidy out too and although I have thrown away two bags of rubbish, it doesn't look much better yet.
ReplyDeleteWe also have a quiet new Year's Eve at home tonight but we will be raising a glass and eating our twelve grapes to the chimes of the village clock at midnight, and if we survive awake until 1.00 a.m. we will see Big Ben on TV and raise another glass to friends and family in UK. Happy New Year to you, and thanks for a year of entertainment and friendship via blogland! Kate x

ReplyDeleteas is your card, and you are good at Vintage. I hope all the little snippets are tucked away and not thrown away LoL

We put away our decorations yesterday, I like a clean house to start the New Year! We don't normally get up to much on New Years Eve as I feel the same as you about it, but we felt like going this time. Xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Di
ReplyDeleteOooh, get you . . . all vintaged up! These are lovely. The images and background paper perfectly complement one another.
We'll be having a quiet one in with Jools Holland!
Happy New Year - wishing you health and happiness too . . . with a bit of wealth thrown in for good measure!
Hugs

Len was right to give his seal of approval (and not because it was nearly dinner time) - they are lovely cards - surprising what we find when we have a sort out and a turn out (which I need to do again and keep putting off - might tackle it today, but I've said that before, of course!) - thanks for entering my CHNC challenge 105 - hope to see you again soon! Btw still need wellies for the playground - it's lashing it down again here x
ReplyDeleteReally lovely cards!! I do the "dump the stuff on the bed then I have to tidy away so I can go to sleep" trick - always works!! A very happy new year to you!!x
ReplyDeleteNow you're up to 200. Just realized I never formally joined your group! Happy New Year my friend. Health and happiness to you too!
ReplyDeleteHi Di, Wow you find the most wonderful crafts while tidying up l never do!! this is lovely have a lovely new year xx
ReplyDeleteHow do I know if I'm a follower or just a stalker? Hmm.... oh! I s'pose you'll be on my list if I'm officially following you. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the "fuzzy" stuff along the left side of the card was so I'm glad you identified it. It did look like it was made with netting. Love the card and look at you getting ahead for next year!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is starting early Miss! Great cards and love the vintage look of these cards.
