Making a scene

....not by throwing myself on the floor, drumming my heels and screaming - just playing round with inks and stamps :)
I used:

- 6" x 6" square black card blank

- a piece of Clarity white coated/silk card stock

- masked off the sun with a circle punched into a Post-it

- home made cloud template just moved around whilst using Adirondack 'Cloudy Blue' ink pad and a Clarity stencil brush

- then removed the Post-it circle and protected the clouds with the rest of the Post-it positioning the punched out circle over the 'sun' which was then coloured using Adirondack 'Peach Bellini' ink pad and stencil brush

- swooshed a mix of Adirondack 'Salmon' and 'Terra cotta' along the bottom of the piece of card

- the bulrushes and birds are from a set by Inkylicious called 'Bullrush' (sic), stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black'. I added some 'grass' using the very edge of a Flonzcraft stamp

- the image was then die cut using a MFT die from their 'Rounded banners' set

- sentiment is LOTV, stamped onto a scrap of Clarity card which had been swooshed over with Adirondack 'Terra Cotta' ink pad - then it was die cut using a round Nesties die

- added a couple of strips of black and white striped washi tape

Quite like the result although need loads more practice - it's a bit like looking through an archway :)

  1. Stunning! I don't think you need any more practice Di, but I get what you mean - as I always feel like that when I do something 'new'. Will look out for those stamps as I've never seen or heard of them before. I have very inky stained fingers right now lol! All in a good cause - next weeks Technique Time Tuesday post xx

  2. I'm not seeing where you need 'more practice'. I love this. Your sponged clouds look super. Very realistic. I liked the border trim. Guessing this is dp. It reminded me of the 20's art deco architecture around this pretty scene. I'd say "Well Done". Did Parsnip do this one? Bet he looked over your shoulder! TFS & hugs

PS An old joke: Q: Why is Spring dangerous?

A: Because the cowslip's about, the bulrush's out, and all the buds are shooting!

  20. I love building a scene with little stamps, but I usually go over the top and use too many. (A bit like when I am speaking and I use ten words when one would do!), but you have done a great job with this card. The archway frames it beautifully too. Kate x

  24. I second the motion for more practice! Not because you need it, oh no, but because then we can see more nifty faux window cards like this. I like this peek into the world look.
