I guess lots of you will know the patchwork trick Just cut a square of background paper and then a couple of strips of contrasting paper the same length as the background but only one third of the width of the background. Then stick them down in a cross centrally over the background square and cover with an image, sentiment or whatever. Thern I added some 'faux stitching'.
I used:
- 4" x 4" square white linen card
- all papers came from the snippets folder (the patterned ones are scraps of First Edition 'Sweet Owl' papers)
- sentiment from the Hero Arts 'Live Life' sentiments set - stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate
- flowers punched from snippets with Josy Rose nail heads in the centre
After a busy week with medical appointments it was already likely that I wouldn't have time to make a new snippets card. Just to make absolutely sure, I had a fall on Friday and whacked my right arm. It's badly bruised so crafting is out of the question right now - sigh.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall, Di. I hate it when things compound and I hope you see brighter (not hotter) days ahead. And your card from 'back in the day' is really fun to revisit! Love, Darnell
ReplyDeleteIt’s a lovely patchwork card Di and a great technique to revisit.
ReplyDeleteSending lots of love and good wishes for a speedy recovery after your fall.
I promise to be a good Prefect and a behave while you’re incapacitated (although I may have had my fingers crossed behind my back when I typed that!) xxx😘
How lovely to be reminded of such an effective technique and so simple to achieve as well as using up Snippets of patterned paper. I'm sorry to hear you've had a fall and hope you make a speedy recovery very soon. Sending hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I hope you're not too badly hurt from your fall Di. Your card is lovely. I wouldn't have thought of doing patchwork that way.
ReplyDeleteFabulous snippets patchwork card, Di.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you’ve had a fall, wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope it won’t be long before you can get back to crafting again.
Liz xx

ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty patchwork look Di and the scalloped edge to the sentiment mat also in pink coordinates beautifully. Sorry to hear you have had a fall and hope your arm is soon a lot better so you can get back to crafting. x
ReplyDeleteGosh Di .. .. .. where did all those years disappear to? Hardly seems two minutes since I handed the keys over.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have had another tumble - I hope you recover quickly.
Is Len familiar with the use of the washing machine and iron (plus other domestic appliances)?
Not sure my emails are getting through to folk at the moment - we have internet problems on that front and I often end up in people’s spam box!!!
Love and hugs always

Oh no--another fall! I'm so sorry, Di. Take care of yourself and I hope you heal quickly. Glad you showed this card again as I didn't know the patchwork trick. Will have to get out my printed paper and see what I can come up with. Hugs, Greta
ReplyDeleteOh Di - that was not a great end to a week already busy with medical appointments - they seem to take up so much of our lives at the moment! Do hope you are well on the way to recovery now.
ReplyDeleteLove your card, and thanks for the tip on how to make it super quickly - that was a new one for me
Blessings
