Butterflies and Music

I used:

- 5" x 7" white card blank - tent style

- backing paper from Papermania's 'Boysenberry' Capsule Collection paper pad, trimmed using my big Woodware trimmer - with the 'deckle' blade

- the image was stamped using Memento 'London Fog' ink and Penny Black's 'Butterfly Suite' stamp - I also stamped part of the image again onto spare white card so I could colour and layer up the butterflies

- coloured the image, plus the two extra butterflies, to match the backing paper using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Sansodor blending solution

- stamped the Elzybells sentiment using Memento 'London Fog' so that it looks a bit like the flight path of the smaller butterfly :) I quite like the extra meaning of the sentiment 'just a little note'

- die cut the image panel using a Spellbinders 'Distressed Rectangle' die and popped it onto the backing paper then cut out and added the extra butterflies (coloured and then tickled with clear Wink of Stella) on top of the existing ones for dimension

- to the right hand side I added the remains of a Prima 'pearls swirl' - bought in New Mexico ages ago whilst shopping with Kay

- final touch, little Mei Flower white pearls down the butterfly bodies and also here and there on the flower

To my shame, I realised that this is only the second time ever that I've used this gorgeous stamp :(

And I wonder, if any of you have the large Woodware rotary trimmer which has the huge selection of interchangeable blades, do you know that it's now discontinued? Such a shame as I don't think there's an equivalent one in terms of variety of blades - sigh :( Even the replacement cutting channel mats now seem to have disappeared - good job I'm a hoarder and always had spares on standby!

  1. You are so funny, Di! That is a most gorgeous stamp, but I never got it since I'm so terrible at coloring. You've really made it shine--love this card!

  5. It's beeautiful Di, such a pretty stamp and I love your pearl flourish.

I've got the Woodware trimmer and managed to get a replacement straight blade just before xmas but it was faulty and would not cut straight. Still I have some spare cutting mats and a wrinkly edge blade so it's not gone in the bin yet xx

  8. Di, do you have a fever or need to lie down for a bit after your exhasting work? This is absolutely the bees knees and is a perfect card for the challenge. Love the colours and those pearl swirls. My ears pricked up when you mentioned the deckle edge trimmer and then drooped again that it is discontinued!! All systems go here at present 3 separate delivery firms all needed to be dovetailed in today and Peter the painter is also here prepping the walls ready for the mahoosive installation being done next week and oh yes the Internet is still down so on my iPad still. Apart fom that all tickety boo as Dad would say. The Doc is staying remarkably calm but then I 'm project manager this time round!!
Thankyou so much for fluttering by so fast with that gorgeous stamp . Hugs Mrs A.

  9. This is a lovely card Di using such a pretty flower stamp and in one of my most favourite colours. I love the pearl swirl too. I am disappointed about the woodware rotary cutter too. Before Christmas I was using the oldest cutting blade and runner strip which was not making my cuts at all good. Luckily in the New Year they managed to get some straight blades in, old stock I think, but they told me that the strips are still available as the new cutter uses the same strip, but may be I have got hold of the wrong information. It is so annoying as the rest of the cutter is working perfectly but I will have to bite the bullet and buy a new one eventually. x

Gosh the second time that you have used that stamp - I have LOTS of PB stamps unused - Oh the shame :-(......

When your spares run out they have got some Woodware blades at Sir Stampalot.

  13. Wow. You were quick off the mark with this one. I love your beautiful card, and I must say I am looking forward to having a go at the butterfly with music theme. That is such a pretty shade of pink. I love it. Kate x

  14. Beautiful card - it's a lovely stamp. The shame is that we have so many stamps and so little time in our life to ink them all once let alone ink them twice! I have the Woodware trimmer tucked away somewhere but I haven't used it in an age ... preferring to use my little Tonic guillotine. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

    Wonderful card, Di.

Just having a wee catch up on your blog. We have been busy starting in on creating a garden and it has kept me from my visiting calls!
