Pixie's Snippets Playground #342 - Prize B

Here's the second prize in the 'Snippets Playground Celebration' prize draw- I've actually posted this card on the blog already - but here it is again with a reminder about how I made it:
I used:

- 5'5" x 4.25" white card blank, tent style

- layers of gold and copper Xcut adhesive metal effect sheets for the borders. To add these it's easier to just peel off a little bit of the backing down one short side and line it up on the card blank before going the whole hog and peeling off the rest. tI helps with alignment of course and if you gently smooth as you peel off the rest it lies nice and flat

- then I die cut a white panel using a die from the Lil' Inkers 'Stitched Rectangles' set of dies

- then dug out snippets of the same adhesive gold and copper sheets (I never throw even the teeniest piece of these away - just store them in the packet with the rest of the sheets) and die cut the sentiment)

- for the sentiment I used the 'shadow' set of two dies which I've been itching to use, made by Pink and Main called 'Merry Christmas' - and cut one from a snippet of gold and the other from a snippet of copper

- layered the die cuts together and then popped them onto the stitched white panel

- **and before going any further, to make sure the sentiment was well 'bonded' I ran the whole white panel through the Cuttlebug using embossing plates and an unopened embossing folder

- glued the white panel onto the card front and added three sequins - one large copper one and two smaller gold ones

** I really do recommend this step with your die cutting/embossing machine if you feel there's any chance of the self adhesive sheet coming adrift at all - plus, it really does make the wording look as if it's been foiled almost into the matching shadow background!

And today's prize is:
A set of two dies made by Pink & Main called 'Merry Christmas. I do love dies with this shadow effect - they're very popular right now - so we actually have three of the sets on offer - yay! Three chances to be a winner of this prize!

At the end of all of the celebrations I'll do a massive draw session for all the prizes using the one Mr Linky - which is on the main snippets post HERE - so you do need to have entered one snippets make over on that post during this fortnight to be in with a chance :) Maximum of one entry please - to keep things fair for those who may not have time to craft. Mr Linky closes at 11am on Saturday 5th January so you do need to have added a snippets make by then to be eligible for the draw.

Just leave a comment on this post if you would like the chance to win today's prize.

Hope you're all set for tomorrow - if not then what's not done will just have to not get done. One of my happiest Christmases as a child was when we'd only just moved back to the UK from Germany with suitcases only and our heavy crates didn't get to us in time for Christmas. There was no option but to make the best of things and it turned out to be really great. None of the last minute panic baking etc. - Mum just bought things like our Christmas cake (almost unheard of in those days!). And Dad and I sat for hours making paper chains and paper lanterns in the cosy kitchen.

Have a lovely day - and don't forget to keep checking in if at all possible - I have a lovely prize to celebrate Christmas Day!

Love from Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  25. Your story reminds me of when we moved to Crete 10 years ago. We arrived on the evening of the 23rd of December. Initially, our stuff was supposed to arrive after Christmas but then the Greek movers (for the last stretch to Crete) proposed to deliver all of our stuff on the 24th. We said yes, but things did not go smoothly. Our belongings were supposed to arrive in the morning when in fact they arrived only around 6 in the evening and the Cretan agent had recruited a few Eeastern European men from the local kafeneion (some of them intoxicated from strong liquor) because his own men were already celebrating Christmas. Fortunately, the Dutch movers and their insurance company were quick to reimburse us for the damages we suffered as a result. The worst part, though, was that the boxes were all over the place instead of being stacked neatly in one area of each room. Served us right for bringing over way too much stuff in the first place...

  39. A lovely card, Di. The die set is fab and, as you say, these shadow effect dies are very popular at present so it's a 'yes, please' from me for this prize. I'm just catching up with all your posts and I did enjoy your memory of a Christmas gone. It's all over again for another year and what made it magic for me was having hubby home after his recent hospital stay. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
