I also wanted to make my weekly card for Hazel's Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge ('something old') and also her Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for August (anything goes). So I went rootling through my oldest Christmas stamps and this is the card I came up with:
I used:
- 6" x 6" square white card blank
- large snippet of SU 'Real Red' card stock, topped with a slightly smaller snippet of SU's 'Certainly Celery' card stock
- a piece of white card stock and in the centre of the back I placed a Spellbinders circle die - the 3" cut size and just ran an embossing tool around the inside of the die to give me a 'guiding circle' when stamping
- I used a 2006 Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamp set called 'Boxes and Bows' with the following ink pads - SU's Certainly Celery', 'Mossy Meadow' and 'Real Red', plus the little pieces of foliage were stamped using an Encore ' Gold' Ultimate Metallic ink pad. I've had the inkpad for donkeys years, along with a silver one - and wondered how come they're still so lovely and juicy - checked the bottom of the pads and they're made by Tsukineko in Japan, one of the best ink pads makers IMHO
- finally I trimmed the piece of white card down to fit on top of the red and light green card layers (another instance where it's a good idea to leave the final trimming of an image layer until the end) - and then stamped the sentiment in the middle of the wreath using SU 'Mossy Meadow' and a stamp from the Personal Impressions 'Many Greetings' sentiments set

Not only does that wreath look great on your card, the inspiration photo has me drooling for M&M's now! Thanks Di! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job with this wreath! The peg stamps are a challenge which is why mine have gathered dust! Maybe I should take them out for a spin. Thanks for sharing this with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteA lovely card Di - I've never used peg stamps as they look so fiddly but you've done a great job here.

The wreath looks lovely and certainly not as though you did it blind. I wish I had a gold ink pad. I'll have to look around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card Di. Those stamps are lovely and would be great for birthdays too. I'm not very confident with with tapestry stamps either although I have several sets.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea od marking out the circle where you're going to stamp first. Barbxx
Di, a great cat=rd , love those stamps !

Lovely Christmas wreath!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis wreath is gorgeous Di and the colour combination is lovely. The peg stamps make a terrific wreath and it's the random nature of it that makes it so pretty and different every time you stamp. I don't own any peg stamps myself but this beautiful wreath could make me try them! x
ReplyDeleteYour present-wreath card looks good to me Di.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
I have a friend like you and if we craft together I can see my slightly slap dash ways freak her out,but you made a beautiful card so it comes in handy for some things!!x
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant card Di, the wreath is amazing and you have reminded me that I have a card-i-o set that I have never used and would work well in a design like this!! Thank you for the inspiration xx
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty wreath Di. I have quite a few of these stamps and love the card samples I see made with them, but when it comes to using them I find that I'm not much good at doing random and so they seem not that easy to work with.

Super use of old stamps, Di. Thanks for entering both of my CHNC challenges with your lovely crafting - hope to see you again soon. x
ReplyDeleteGreat card and love the wreath, never seen those images before, very different images for a wreath and a shame that is doesn't come as a 'proper' stamp, so to speak.

Well done for being so brave! I think the blind stamping makes it look more random and real, but ikwym! Xxx
ReplyDeleteBrilliant wreath Di, love the way it's made with pressies stamp and the colour combo xx
ReplyDeleteVery creative & beautifully stamped, Di! It is hard to go back to wood mounted after using the clear stamps, but I really love my old ones & still think they stamp the best!
ReplyDeleteI just adore your RST card. The first time I took my DD to a stamp show, we waited 2 hours for her to get out of that booth. She was a couple hundred lighter in the pocket book. I use to grab for these stamps all the time before she moved away. Never owned this set with the prezzies, but what fun! You did such fine work with them!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLovely card! Great job with stamping such a lovely wreath.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, I love your wreath. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday.
