Snippety owl

After wanting SU's 'Owl Builder' punch forever, I finally got one recently and this is what I made for a first play:
I used:

- 4" x 4" square white card blank

- SU's 'Owl Builder' punch and lots of little snippets. The wings were an add on, I'd spotted folk doing that on Splitcoaststampers - using scalloped punches. I don't have a punch small enough so used the smallest scalloped oval Nestie I have and just folded the wings in half along the longer part of the oval. Have to say, it really does add some dimension :)

- the branch was die cut from a snippet of SU's 'Certainly Celery' card stock using Cheery Lynn's 'Bird on a Branch 2' die

- the 'picture' and frame were die cut using MFT 'Rounded Banner' dies from snippets of white card and SU's 'Rose Red' card

- sentiment is from the Personal Impressions stamp set of dinky little sentiments I wrote about the other day - called 'Everyday Words Happy Birthday', stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink pad

- wisely (pun intended!) for once, I left placing the owl right until the end after the sentiment was stamped and just popped him/her on with little sticky pads - I do love how the owl is touching its heart (Not a happy accident, I planned it that way - aw!)

This would be so nice to send to little ones who live far away...wonder who that could be!!! Seems I recall two little sweethearts who live in Europe!

That punch is so cute. I have a MB die of an owl but have never used it...my bad!

  22. Lovely card Di, and I can see that a lot of thought went into the making of it ... right down to the little owl pointing to his heart. That's a great tip on how to make the wings - thanks for sharing. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
