We all think differently....

...and crafting is a good example!

Edit: If you came here from WOYWW 123, I'm sorry, I added the wrong link - you should be here instead - signed, Mrs Potato Head.

On Thursday I spent a jolly craft afternoon round at a friend's, doing 'show and tell' and swopping stash. She's really into decoupage (the biggest word I can think of for today) so I took a lot of House Mouse decoupage sheets for her along with some other bits and bobs. Then she produced a load of stamps asking if I'd like any of them. Quite a few were not really our style (she bought a job lot at the local charity shop) but one in particular caught my eye. 'I'm never going to colour that parcel' said Pauline - but I could see potential. I was honest and explained that I'd use it for paper piecing just in case she might still want it - at which the stamp was still dropped into my bag by Pauline :) Funny, she does amazing decoupage work but baulked at the thought of paper piecing!

This is what I came up with - one of the fastest cards I've made for a while:
Without my specs on I'd actually thought the message was Happy Christmas until I got it out to have a play here. But, it's a very simple Birthday card instead :)

So, I'm quite early this week to enter this into Jules Crafty Snippets Challenge - Week 39.

I used:

- White A6 card stock

- pink slightly glittered background layer card from snippets

- image stamped using using the 'third-hand' un-named Anita's stamp and a pink teeny ink pad from 'I know not where', but I have a load of these little square beauties,   :)

- paper pieced using paper with teensy flowers on, from snippets

  9. Sounds like you had a great time. It's fun to craft with friends isn't it and even better when you acquire lovely new stamps. This is gorgeous. I love how the greeting swizzles down the parcel. (I'm just practising those big words!!)
Hope this lovely weather lasts just a few more days, I'm getting used to it now!!

  10. Well I nearly commented first thing this morning on this card, luckily I was diverted by my husband wittering on about something, so that saved my face.

I think this is stunning and this stamp has a great deal of potential, so simple, any colour, and producing a great CAS card especially superb for paper piecing.
    Love it.

  11. I had to read it twice, when I couldn't see where the paper piercing was. It said piecing...DUH! I went Saturday to the eye Dr. - good thing! I get my new prescription the end of next week! I'm not sure that's fast enough...LOL

    Now....what is paper piecing????

  12. Paper piecing, for the uninitiated (today's big word already!), is as follows: stamp your image onto plain card, then re-ink and re-stamp it onto patterned or coloured paper. Some stamps are much more suitable for this than others with areas that you know will work. Then, take the image you stamped onto the patterned or plain paper and snip out the bits you want to use on the card itself. Apply glue (with a glue pen or such) to each area you want to paper piece and stick the matching snipped out piece of paper over the image in the right place. Hope this makes sense. You can also do it with digital images by printing the second copy onto coloured or patterned paper. Basically, it could be described as a lazy way of colouring in :)) But you can get some lovely effects and it's a super way to use up scraps/snippets. Di xx

  13. You lucky girl! What a fantastic stamp. Most of my stamps have come from thrift shops. Like Pauline I end up with stamps I don’t want but the ones I do want are well worth the price of the bag. I just donate the once I can't use back to be resold.
You did a fantastic job piecing. Beautiful card!
Wonderful explanation of piecing but then I do know what you are talking about so I may not be the best judge.

  14. Wow. I will have to try this paper piecing trick! I love coloring but sometimes don't have the time for it. I will have to go through my stamp stash to see if I have suitable stamps.
    Thanks for the inspiration!!
