Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #336

We almost didn't have a fresh challenge this time, things got so busy preparing for Dudley's arrival and then of course settling him in with us.

I'll add some photos further down this post if I get the chance as I'm 'Home Alone' with him right now (Saturday morning) and really do need eyes in the back of my head despite all the puppy proofing we did. Auntie Sarn sent him a really soft squeaky hedgie toy - which is today's favourite toy but right now he's on my lap as he's all played out. Thankfully Len will take over when he gets back from archery so I can finish typing this post.

It's fair to say we're both quite weary - gotta laugh,we're having to keep slippers well hidden from him and Len keeps his in the bath when he isn't wearing them!

Hooray, Len is home now so I can carry on with this post. And guess what, the little scamp has decided it's now time he had an afternoon snooze! So he's in dreamland and Len is off the hook.

Even in the midst of everything else going on I did realise that I could miss our lovely Maureen's Rudolph Days challenge if I didn't at least get a bit of a wiggle on. This snippets card has nothing at all to do with the prize this time but it does mean I can join in with Mo's challenge - sorry it's not my finest work Mo!

So, here is my snippets card - on which I used a leftover scrap of blue card (SU) and part of a Christmas card from the 'saved to up cycle' box:
 I used:

- 5" x 5" square white card blank

- a snippet of blue card from the snippets folder, with just a smidgen trimmed off to make it slightly smaller than the card front, then glued in place

- the front of a Christmas card we were sent a couple of years ago - which already had the outlines of the top part trimmed around, so it's an up cycled card that almost made itself

- all I added was trim the sides slightly and add the sentiment using the Misti, Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and a sentiment from the Paper Smooches 'Christmas Sampler' set of stamps before gluing it onto the card front

It's been too 'full on' to get out the Josy Rose Hot Fix rod but I think a single silver star might look just right - where the watermark is on the photo at top left, to embellish the blank area of blue. In fact, once I've got this post scheduled I'll do that right away whilst peace reigns here for a while.

The prize this time is part of a package of goodies that Viv sent to me for the Playground toy box a little while ago:
It's a Cut n Boss 'Classic Collection' set of dies and a Tonic Studios 'Mariposa Petals' die. Please note that I won't split this prize so if you play and want to be in the draw remember that you will receive both items, but of course you can then give one to a friend if you don't want both items! It keeps things easier for me - and also keeps the postage down as well.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 13th October. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're playing only for fun - otherwise I ignore you on my little list.

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)

I know that I'm a bit behind with commenting on entries for the challenge that has just closed. I'll be there ASAP I promise! And, although am still avoiding using the Cuttlebug, my shoulder is tons better! Just in time as well!   Thank you so much for all the get well soon wishes, it seems to be a fairly common thing amongst us crafter and bloggers!

And also, huge thanks to those of you who sent really lovely cards for the arrival of Dudley - they were waiting for us when we got home with him so it really was perfect timing! I'll be emailing you ASAP to say thank you individually - what a lovely bunch of people you are!

Here he is just a couple of hours after we arrived home with him. First of all he totally crashed out for a sleep and later on chose a rope tug toy as his new friend for the rest of the day. And then, after playing for a while he just fell asleep where he was! Chewing is top priority right now - help!
Flaked out, with absolutely no shame either! He came with his own blanket with smells of his parents and siblings, plus a couple of toys as well
Playing tug

Flaked out once again - it's a hard life - but don't anyone try to take this tug rope away from me!!
Love from Parsnip (always my special furry white bundle), little Dudley and of course from me,

  4. Fab upcycled card Di . . . I agree that the addition of a little star would be perfect.

Bless him, little Dudley is settling in nicely isn't he. Play time is soo tiring tho. All that chewing and tugging clearly needs some shuteye afterwards!!! Glad he likes playing with the toy hedgie. Big hugs xxx

  5. He's adorable Di, but know just what you mean about have eyes in the back of your head, they dart about so quickly. Grandaughter Anysia has a twelve weeks old Dalmation called Clover and she's keepig her very much on her toes, but it's amazing how quickly they learn.

  6. Dudley is simply adorable, Di! I'm sure he will learn quickly. We were quite lucky when we first got out Bernie (who was dumped into our garden at the age of approx. 4 weeks --hard to believe he will be turning 5 tomorrow). Apart from chewing out the label in the basket we bought him and the tip of the large pillow we bought him, he never demolished anything he wasn't supposed to. Well done on whipping up a quick card from you sippets and up-cycling box.

  7. What an adorable addition to your household - a full time job for a while I imagine. Well done for actually getting a card made and I'm pleased your shoulder is improving. Could this be an excuse (as if one is needed) for acquiring a plug in - no handle turning die cutting machine!!!!! Sorry I've been a bit remiss with comments and blogging; 'things' have overtaken me somewhat - hopefully catch up with myself soon.

  8. Oh my goodness, how cute. I can see you giving up posting cards and just showing pictures of Dudley. And no-one will mind! He sounds like a handful but I'm sure you'll forgive him everything. x

  9. Ohhh I don't know how you're ever going to get any crafting done with Dudley around, he's absolutely adorable and looks sooo cuddly! Love your upcycled card :)

  10. I think your card is just wonderful and you know how i love to see upcycling! You did a great job to even enter a card as 'i know how busy you must be.

It is many years since we had a dog (the girls were just becoming teenagers and they are in their 40's! But, the grankids got a puppy a couple of years ago and since we do the morning up for school supervision and thenwalk them up to school, we had lotsof training puppy time. i lost so many pairs of flip flops to puppy teeth marks. Every now and gain he will still chew on things if he is bored.

In Western Canada, people take their shoes off when they visit your home. My daughter has a canvas picture that says
    Please take off your shoes
The dog needs something to chew on

Official hat back on...Thank you for taking part in the September Rudolph Days Challenge.

  13. The image on your lovely up cycled card is really sweet, but not quite as cute as Dudley :). I can imagine he's full of it for a while and then just flops down and sleeps anywhere! I will be back to play later, but only for fun this time after winning my lovely stamp set x

  18. Dudley is so adorable. They have so much energy, then just crash. I love puppies but they do chew. I had to laugh at Len's slippers in the bath. This is the sweetest card but I think your cards will take a backseat to Dudley for a while!

  19. Oh, Di, Dudley is gorgeous! A lovely bundle of fluff. Your card's lovely too but really I only have eyes for Dudley. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  20. Your card is super Di, great recycling! But awwwww what a cutie Dudley is, such an adorable pup. How exciting to have a baby in the house but I bet it's very hard work. Enjoy him. I'll just be playing for fun this fortnight. Happy nearly October! Hugs xxx

  21. Oh, my, Di, Dudley is simply too precious! Enjoy all the puppy days, regardless of how much time and effort are required on your part. Those instantaneous naps will disappear so quickly and the amount of constant attention demanded will decrease slowly but the memories you're building will thrive for a lifetime. Oh, yes, love the upcycled card. Almost forgot about that in the midst of admiring Dudley. :-D
The prize dies are marvelous and I think I will throw my hat into the ring this week (unlike most weeks!) I'll have an entry later tonight (tomorrow your time.)

  22. Glad that your shoulder is doing much better Di! With puppies, you really do need eyes in the back of your head. lol You can't take your eye off them for a second and makes for exhausting days. Yep, that is about how it goes around here with Kahlua, I do all the hard work, Bret comes home and Kahlua goes and naps with him. What the heck?!! Before you know it though Dudley will be all grown up and settled. Pure joy! Love your snippets card, so pretty and a great way to recycle an image! I love it and I am loving the photo's of Dudley, can he get any more adorable?!!! Oh and they can destroy toys in no time. Yes, slippers, shoes, etc...all must be hidden well! lol Hugs, Brenda

  24. Oh my gosh--I almost want another puppy! Actually, I just want to be your neighbor so I could get cuddles & then leave the chewing everything & lack of sleep to you guys--haha! I remember those days (won't tell you it was 2 yrs with Fritz!) very well! I always loved how puppies go, go, go & then crash! Glad your shoulder is better & your Christmas card is just precious! 26. I love your upcycling Di and have done a bit of that on mine for the challenge too. How gorgeous is Dudley and a bundle of fun and energy and love how he just flakes out...lol. I think he will demand a lot of attention for a while, but so worth it. Sorry not to get an entry in last time but our son has been visiting from Australia so haven't had much time for cardmaking. Sadly he is off home tomorrow so life returns to normal. If I get my card in I would love to be in the draw for the prize this time. x

  31. Oh my gosh, Dudley is so absolutely adorable that you almost have to forgive any mischief that he gets into..isn't that so? He reminds me so much of my Toby when he was a pup...down to the tan colored ears. Toby is a maltese-poodle mix and is now a great old 13 years old. We were lucky that he never chewed much, although he once grabbed a whole sheet of stickers and ran off with them in his first week with us, haha! Yes please to the lovely dies for this challenge prize and have fun with your new pup!

  33. Your Christmas card is just adorable but your Dudley is so darn cute that he made me squeal! Puppies are already ridiculously cuddly and appealing but that picture of him sleeping all sprawled out in his bed is my favorite! I hope he continues to adjust to your household and learns that he's going to get a lot of love! Yes please to the prize, and I hope we see a lot more of Dudley.

  35. I'm not gonna lie, Di, I just scrolled right on down so I could see the pictures of Dudley! My heart is well and truly melted!! They are totally worth all the trouble they get into ... you just have to think ahead a bit like Len knowing to put his slippers in the bathtub! They are smart little whippernappers! Now you have a little white Parsnip and a little white Dudley!! Blessings for sure! Hugs, Darnell

We have had our Mack since last Nov, he turned one on the 20th, I hate to tell you but he STILL chews!! We have no throw rugs or room rugs left, he has chewed all, we had a crate for him but after a few weeks he figured out how to open not one but two latches...good luck!!! Oh and yes for the prize, I almost forgot lol!

Your card is so lovely, Di! I think I have to use old cards for recycling, too. Have taken care of many wonderful images.
My card is made of lots of snippets, and because the image is written in German, I also wrote German in this post. But I don't think you've got problems understanding it.
I would be glad to have the opportunity to win the prize.

  52. Hi Di. I just wanted to say that I have entered this card for the challenge which I posted just after the challenge opened. I didn't link it then because I was fully expecting to be making something else to enter but time has beaten me, so I have linked this one because I didn't enter anything last time and I didn't want to let another one pass by without an entry. I did originally say 'yes please' but as this probably isn't the best use of snippets but is the best of those things available to enter with at the moment I will instead just play for fun. x
