The other week a neighbour was whipped into hospital, with what turned out to be appendicitis. Once she was back home to recuperate from surgery, we gave her this card:
I used:
- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank
- more of the same white card for a slightly smaller layer on the card front, embossed using Cuttlebug's 'Swiss Dots' folder
- the image is a pre-coloured LOTV one, bought ages ago. Die cut using a Spellbinders Nesties square die with each corner rounded using a Woodware rounder punch
- then I found the perfectly matching colour card to the light purple bunch of grapes in the snippets folder and die cut a scalloped square using a Spellbinders Nestie from the 'Lacey Square' set and glued the image to it
- next I used a stamp from the Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' set to stamp onto white card using a Memento 'Elderberry' dye ink pad
- die cut a purple frame using Impression Obsession's 'Rectangle 6-in-1' frame die (I'd already established that the sentiment and frame would fit one another of course), trimmed the sentiment and glued it behind the frame
- then it was just a case of making sure I positioned the topper and the sentiment correctly onto the card front, using thin sticky pads. Having the lines of embossed dots as a guide was a huge help :)
- and I gave the grapes and the spoon a very light tickle of clear Wink of Stella
When the in-house critic saw this he really liked it a lot, then said - 'but why is the letter 't' upside down?'. Try explaining 'funky fonts' to a non-crafting fella! Of course, it then started to bother me as well :)
Isn't it the way. I'd just given a box of 90 assorted cards to a local care home for the residents to use - and had almost cleaned myself out of finished cards here. Bit of a scramble to make this one - that'll larn me!

This is a really cute LOTV image Di and the swiss dots background looks great with it and the rounded corners and pretty scalloped die cut and the frame for the sentiment compliment it beautifully. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute image. Glad you found a reason to use it (but not glad your friend had appendicitis). I also like to use the swiss dots to help line things up... It is a handy trick. (And that T bothers me too).
ReplyDeleteCute card Di, I hope your friend is a lot better now
ReplyDeleteA really quick hello and peek at your work, internet problems most of week plus a day presenting so grabbing a few moment while it's there.

This must have really cheered up your friend Di...such a cute card even with the upside down t...LOLOL. The LOTV images are such good quality aren't they, I love this one. Enjoy the up coming weekend, let's hope the sunshine returns...brrr it's been so chilly this week xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card Di, I really love LOTV images. I'm sure your neighbour was thrilled with it.

A great card and I'm sure your neighbour will love it. Aren't our in house critics lovely with their comments!

Such a sweet image and until you mentioned the in-house critic's remark I'd not noticed the 'T' - our brains often make us see what we expect to see and not what is there. Love funky fonts anyway.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's just adorable and I'm sure that she has loved it!! Lovely tought from you and very cute image!! So pretty frame and embossing! I love polka dots embossing folders, I must buy one
ReplyDeleteI could use a bit of that carrot juice about now! Adorable. How the neighbor is mended and getting around.
ReplyDeleteGreat card Di, love that image. Rabbits and medicine always make me think of Peter Rabbit!
ReplyDeleteIf only carrot juice worked. The bunnies always get syringe feed carrot baby food when they are poorly and not eating so maybe it works! A lovely card that is guaranteed to cheer your neighbour up, I like the font! Cara x
ReplyDeleteWow 90 cards should keep the residents stocked up for a while. Your card is really pretty and do you what I didn't notice the upside down "t". I think you're right we just accept these things. My hubby picks these things up too. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteOhh I love this image I have this one! I think it makes such a cute get well card Di. I've just boxed up some cards too and need to fill my stash up again!!! but they are all for good causes and I love Paper Smooches stamps huggles Sue xx
ReplyDeleteLovely card Di...and if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed about the 'T'.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Di :o) That's the sort of thing my hubby would say to me lol - I love the funky font!

ReplyDeleteGreat card Di, so sweet.
ReplyDeleteOh WHAT IS Len like? Fancy saying that the t was wrong . . . I never noticed & now after going back to see it does look odd to me.
ReplyDeleteGreat card regardless! Xxx
