I suddenly became aware of the 'Twofers' challenge - probably because our Jane W from the Snippets Playground is on the challenge DT and gave me a little nudge. The current theme (#11) is 'Birds' - and did I have some fun making my entry, even though I already spotted the same stamp set had been used by the DT as well as at least one entry.
I dug out my Tim Holtz 'Bird Crazy' stamps and dies as they'd been very neglected - plus the accessories set (Crazy Things) along with their matching dies. Cleared a big space on my desk and had a wonderful Sunday afternoon playing with the stamps, dies and Pro markers.
It seemed much easier to have a session like this with everything out at once - even though I didn't have individual cards in mind. I stamped, coloured and die cut one of each of the birdies and then stamped, coloured and die cut a variety of matching accessories. For my card I just used one of the 'sets' and now the other five are slipped into their own little card packaging cellophane bags and are sitting in a basket within reach, ready for use another time.
Here's my entry for the Twofers Challenge:
- 4" x 6" white card blank, tent style
- a snippet of SU's 'Wisteria Wonder' card stock - trimmed to just slightly smaller than the card front and glued in place
- a slightly smaller snippet of white card stock, with the corners punched using a Woodware Decorative Corner punch
- next I stamped the sentiment - using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and a couple of stamps from the fabulous SU 'Just Kidding' clear set (sent to me by a lovely blogging buddy for my very own use - thank you again, mwah!)
- then I used one Tim Holtz 'Crazy Bird', tucked a bunch of flowers under one wing and cut a slit in the hat so it sat properly before adhering it to the card front - before that I'd used a Cool Grey Pro marker to form the 'grounding' area for the birdie
- a touch of the same Cool Grey for where I planned to add the parcel - and then just stuck the parcel in place
I had to explain the sentiment to my in-house critic - and even then I don't think he really 'got' it. Am convinced that men are wired differently to women!
Next job is to make a card for the new Double D challenge where the theme is Forget-Me-Nots. I have a plan, if something arrives here in time - otherwise there's gonna be a last minute scramble for an alternative!
Crazy Birds are my FAV!!!!ReplyDelete
Love the card.
Thanks for sharing the challenge link too.
That is my favorite sentiment of all time!! LOL The bundled up bird is hilarious and I must invest in those stamps before they're gone!ReplyDelete
Oh I laughed out loud--so funny & darling card, Di!ReplyDelete
I really ought not to have read this post while drinking my morning tea, when I read that sentiment I snorted tea up my nose! Hilarious, and perfect for our Twofers challenge, I'm so very glad you joined us.ReplyDelete
A great card, love the sentiment too!ReplyDelete
Those birds always make ,me laugh, love how you assembled the scene, and those fancy corners finish it off, but I'll be the first to 'fess I don't get it, nothing new for me tho! XxxReplyDelete
Love the way you used this bird and the sentiment is loads of fun wonderful card DiReplyDelete
Well, the card is cute Di, and I'm glad you lots of fun making it . . . but like Lesley G, I don't understand the sentiment either! What is WRONG with me?ReplyDelete
Hugs, Sarn xxx
These Crazy Birds are such fun Di and the sentiment is fun too and the punched corners work well with it. A really lovely cute card. xReplyDelete
Ha ha!!! Very fun! This birdie has a face that made me laught as the fab sentiment! :D Very creative work!ReplyDelete
You do the some thing that I do: create embellishments and save them in plastic bags for others creations. I think it's a very useful savetimes. :)
Hi Di Awww how cute is your card l love those Tim Holtz Crazy Bird Stamps and the colouring is stunning too! hope all is well xxReplyDelete
Super card Di. I love those crazy birds and was sitting and colouring in some only last night. Definitely one crafty item I saw in the Playground that I didn't mind being persuaded to buy xxReplyDelete
Is it that you are not 110lbs and they are not 29? Sorry to be a bit thick. It's like the twofer challenge, I thought you had to have two of something on your card....ReplyDelete
Anyway, love this little bird, even though I don't like the stamps and those accessories you did look fab.
You got the joke - and are in good company as quite a few folk went 'Eh?'! The Twofer challenge used to be to make two cards but apparently it's now only one card - they kept the name though!Delete
It took me a while to fall in love with the stamps I must admit! I think it depends how they're used and also the accessories do make a big difference!
Well, goodness me, a Twofer challenge would have been right up my alley all of last year, huh? I love that sediment and all my friends would, too! You know your friend is true blue when she goes along with your self-deception of age and weight! I don't mind the age so much (better than the alternative) but I'm totally blind about the weight!! And thank you, BTW, for the inspiration! Guess who HAD to have the Crazy Birds and then only used them a couple of times ages ago?? Slap! I think maybe I need to splurge on those accessories ... Hugs, DarnellReplyDelete
What a cute card - and I adore those snarky sentiments!! As a HUGE fan of the Crazy Birds I love that you can use them for almost any occasion. . . have you seen the mini's Tim revealed at CHA?!? Oh yeah - on my NEED list! I am thrilled you joined out little challenge and helped spread the word - we actually give away a $20 gift certificate to a store - where you can order anything you want - so you get the old fashioned experience of actually waiting on product LOL Hugs!! Gorgeous card Di, love the purples. These birds are so versatile! Cathy xReplyDelete
Oh yes I get the joke.... now I have had it explained to me didn't like to add, what the heck is a twofer.ReplyDelete
Love the card, great colouring.
I love your crazy purple granny bird. What a great sentiment too. It goes so well. I had to have these stamps and accessories and haven't used them nearly enough either although they really suit so many occasions. BarbxxReplyDelete
That bird! What a hoot... or a tweet or... whatever. From your other 110 lb friend.ReplyDelete
Fabulous card, Di, love those Crazy Birds. Great sentiment! :-DReplyDelete
What a cheeky card Di, I love it!ReplyDelete

Bwahahahahaaaa! Don't make me laugh!!! It hurts!!ReplyDelete
