Secondly, a big 'Eeek'!! I'm going to be making a load of wedding stationery for my friend's son and his fiancee - so long as they like what I can come up with. I know that Jess peeks at this blog so I hope she won't be put off by me saying it's quite daunting. I can do production lines OK but want Jess and Stuart to have a choice of options so this week coming I'll be putting together some samples, mood boards (get me!!) and so on ready to show them. All I know so far is that 'aubergine' is the main colour so not a lot to go on as yet.
So, for the samples, I've managed to track down aubergine card, mulberry paper and such for layering or whatever but I had
The order was placed on Wednesday and on Thursday the most scrumptious (today's big word) little parcel arrived, less than 24 hours after I placed the order. In my haste I didn't keep the beautifully striped outer wrapping with a gorgeous oval cream and gold address label on but just look at this:
This is the gold box, carefully lined with tissue paper and a hand written receipt for the order.
And this is what lay inside the tissue paper. Folded, and not squashed, ribbons - each carefully tied with ivory ribbon and a delicious little hand written tag describing the ribbon and the length provided. Oh boy, someone takes real pride in their service and I'm still opening the box now and then to peek at such pretty contents.
As you'll probably know, I adore ribbon and this is such an amazing change from ribbon being tightly folded or even stuffed into little polythene bags when it arrives in the post!
I just thought I'd share this with you - the art of beautiful packaging and presentation lives on in The Ribbon Shop for sure and I for one will be looking there first when I want more ribbons. You can never have too many say I!
Hope your weekend is going well and thank you for calling by!
Di

Those ribbons do look beautiful, and a well packaged parcel does wonders to lift you on a dull day. I hope you can come up with some gorgeous creations for your friends. Kate xx
ReplyDeleteOh Di, what lovely ribbons...I will be putting together ideas for wedding stationary for my daughters friend soon....and her colour is the same, so I am watching with much interest.
ReplyDeleteHi again. I don't know how I managed to post my last comment twice. I got trigger happy I guess! Anyway I have deleted one of them.
ReplyDeleteRe: your comment on my blog about enlarging photos. I now always use Firefox to write my blog because it seems to allow photo enlarging for the reader. When I changed to google Chrome (which I use for everything else) it wouldn't allow me to resize photos, neither within the preview as I wrote it, nor by the reader. I don't know if that is the case for everyone, but it seems to be with my computer. Kate x
Hi Kate! I also use Firefox but I think the Mr Blogger problems were with blogger itself as they changed to a slide show for a while - loads of us were moaning, whilst you were in the UK I think. I do know that some blogs won't ket you enlarge - interesting that it could be Google Chrome. Thanks so much for the heads up about that one - my in-house IT chappie thinks I should switch to Google Chrome as it's apparently much faster. I'll try it out on his PC before letting him anywhere near either of my laptops :)) Thanks again Kate - and have a great weekend! Di xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the ribbon company Di. I feel it is really important to tell the world when you find someone like that. I shall be popping over there for sure :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Ooh, if only I'd known you adore ribbon - you could have had one of my envelopes stuffed full of it. Never mind. That looks beautiful and so prettily packaged. Time consuming, though, so they must have loads of time - not always possible in business. You'll be fine with the stationery - just keep it simple. I really enjoyed making my son's wedding stuff, once we'd finalised the design. They were (or he was) VERY particular, though. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWe still have a nedgenog coming each night and I'm really enjoying him. He's very friendly and is getting used to us, looking up at us when we go to say hello and even staying while I throw food down for him. Hope yours is safe, they're so precious x
Night Night Spike!
ReplyDeleteLovely box o'ribbons you got there Di.
Have fun making samples.
Hugs, Sarn x

I'd never be able to use them... so beautifully packed.
ReplyDeleteI love that colour - one of my favourites, and I'll be painting one of my bedroom walls that colour soon. Oops... did I just say I'd be painting? Not a chance... that's what Hubbys are for *LOL*
Hope Spike is having a lovely sleep.
ReplyDeleteWow handwritten invoice hand tied ribbons, it's like going back in time, no one does that anymore. I checked out their website and love the way they have photographed their ribbons. Fantastic place to shop.
I am sure what ever you create it’ll be lovely. Take a page from my book, remember 12 layers are about 10 to many. LOL!!! Don’t forget to snoop around Jules site she has some amazing samples.
Hugs
Bernie
