Phew! What a last minute panic to make this fortnight's snippets card! Loss of mojo, trips away, catching up on chores (sigh) etc. have been taking me away from crafting lately.
The latest venture forth was for my (ahem-th) Birthday and we tootled off to Leeds Castle in Kent for a short break. I'll try to add a photo to this post - we took loads but I'll do a post with more about our trip next week - with luck. It truly is such a beautiful place and the Castle itself is stunning.
And HUGE thanks for all the lovely Birthday wishes, cards, gifts ........ and for just all being you - mwah!
So, here's the snippets card I managed to make, just yesterday:
- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank, side opening
- snippet of pink spotty paper which I did in fact glue to a slightly larger card blank before trimming it down to size. So much easier and accurate as well!
- snippet of white card, trimmed to leave a decent border of pink spotty paper around the edge of the card
- die cut a pale blue snippet into a circle using a die from The Works 'Stitched Circles' die set and kept it to one side
- dug into my hoard of white snippets and stamped the little sloth (with Memento 'Tuxedo Black ink) and also a load of leaves using Lawn Fawn's 'Hang in there' adorable set of stamps and coloured them using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Sansodor blending fluid
- then I used the matching die set to cut the sloth image but I did cheat a bit and just fussy cut the leaves even though the set of dies does come with dies for the leaves, as well as a party hat :)
- at that point I knew where I wanted to position the image and blue backing circle so I used the Misti to stamp the sentiment (Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink again)
- the stamp set comes with an exclamation mark as well as a bracket, but I was finding I was all fingers and thumbs so I just used a black fine line pen to add brackets
- then added the white panel to the pink 'spotty card front, with a layer of fun foam as backing to add dimension
- then just glued the blue circle, cute little sloth hanging from his branch and a selection of leaves in place - using a Woodware Fine Tip glue bottle
- finally, added a little bit of 'Glossy Accents' to the 'little chap's' eyes
This is obviously a Get Well or similar card - but the sentiments do include a selection for a 'belated Birthday' card as well, such as 'Sorry I'm slow'.
And that leads nicely into our prize(s) this coming fortnight, which of course are are:
A set of stamps with matching dies by Lawn Fawn called 'Hang in there' - as well as a set of The Works 'Stitched Circles' dies -still amazes me that they give you eight dies in a set.
The Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time
on Saturday 30th September. The gates will open again at
midnight UK time on the same day.
It's a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize.
As I already said, the prize is a set of stamps with matching dies by Lawn Fawn called 'Hang in there' - as well as a set of The Works 'Stitched Circles' dies. I will split The Works 'Stitched Circle' dies from the matching Lawn Fawn ' Hang in there' stamps and dies (which do come as a pair), in which case
I'd do a further draw for the other item(s). Please also link
back to the Playground
your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that
you're wanting to be in the draw then you will be bypassed if your name
comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes'
just in case you're playing only for fun. Thanks!
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking,
it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Be sure to call back next week to see the winner of last fortnight's
prize (two Darkroom Door stamps - 'Butterfly' and 'Stand Out' (very kindly donated
by Megan), plus a set of Joanna
Sheen stamps called 'Pressed Flower' from me), another Guest Designer and my
picks from the past two
And, here's a sneak peek at Leeds Castle where we spent a few days last week. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, which is always a bonus of course:
Love from Parsnip and of course
Love this card!ReplyDelete
its super adorable!
oh that stamp would be great for my hubby birthday card :D

Oh, wow wow wow!! Such supercute card!!! Love this little sloth on the branch and your sweet coloring! The glossy accents on his eyes looks wonderfully! And great clean design with the stitched circle that makes a "spot" for him!ReplyDelete

Will try to participate and Yes for the prize!
Belated birthday wishes - didn't know about that, sorry. Leeds castle looks wonderful and I'm pleased the weather was kind. Just love that cute sloth and you've made a super card as usual. Back later with a Snippets card.ReplyDelete
Morning Miss Di, belated Birthday wishes from me as well. Know Leeds Castle, at least sort of as we bought a Doberman pup from there a few years back (well from one of the groundsmen).ReplyDelete
Sweet image on a rather nice CAS example.
I believe I have a scheduled make that will fit in so will be back tomorrow.
I did not know that it was your birthday, so I am a bit late to send congratulations you to. Well, I will sing loud and maybe you can hear it across the Northsea!ReplyDelete
I have been to Leeds Castle several times and can't get enough of it: it's so beautiful!
I like your card a lot and I will enter the challenge in a few days. Have a nice sunday,
Love your card Miss Di, that is such a super sloth and your design is fabulous. Glad you had a great break and birthday. I'll be back later with my snippets and would love to go in the hat for that fabulous prize xxReplyDelete
Glad you had a lovely break away for your birthday Di. We have been to Leeds Castle and it has the lovliest setting. I adore your cute sloth and the stitched circle shows him off beautifully. xReplyDelete
I love your cute card and sentiment. Belated happy birthday wishes to you. Wow, what a great castle that is. Thanks for sharing that picture of it.ReplyDelete
WB from your birthday get away - the castle looks like a dream getaway and I do hope you had fun celebrating while you were there! Your card is just adorable and who doesn't like working with Lawn Fawn stamps? Yes please to the prize draw this week!ReplyDelete
My mojo is in full-speed mode today and I'm working on something for the challenge this time around. If you're dividing the prize again, I'd love to play for the set of stitched circles. Those will work right in with the set of 3 I already have. My primary annoyency with the set I have is that there simply are not enough sizes so 8 in a set would be terrific! Just had time to catch up with the Monkey Convention and I love your story about all their antics and activities. lol Beautiful photo of the castle!ReplyDelete
Happy, happy belated BD, Di! I didn't have it on my BD list, so failed to send you a card. Looks like an incredible place for a BD celebration--so beautiful! Your card is so darn cute! I'll just play for fun. Hugs, GretaReplyDelete
Awww . . . That is one cute card.ReplyDelete
Leeds Castle looks fabulous. I'm sure you made a great Queen for the Day! Can't wait to see more pics.
Hugs, Sarn xxx

Smashing card, love the sloth. Just uploaded my entry and YES PLEASE to an entry for this weeks prize.ReplyDelete
This is the cutest little sloth I've ever seen...not that I've seen many sloths, but I doubt any are as adorable as this one! The glossy accents on his eyes make him especially bright-eyed and bushy tailed and your card design really lets him show off! I was so glad to hear that your birthday outing to the castle was as wonderful as you had hoped (even with tracking swan poo into your room...thank goodness for Len and his shoe cleaning skills!). Yes please to the prize and I try to ease back into real life after your magical castle visit. You don't want to go into shock, haha!ReplyDelete
Happy Belated Birthday wishes - I hope you had a fabulous time. Such a great image and sentiments - I'd love a chance to win, please.ReplyDelete

Leeds castle looks wonderful - we stayed very close to it in the summer but with it being a family reunion didn't get chance to visit. However we are making an effort to explore the Kent/Sussex area more so I'm sure we'll be there soon. Hope the break has helped your mojo to start tiptoeing back - this gorgeous card certainly doesn't look as if it came from a mojo-free zone!ReplyDelete
Yes please to the prize, the sloth is adorable and circles are the only basic shape I don't yet have in a stitched version
First of all ...Happy Birthday. With all your obligations you made a great card. Of course I will be very glad if my name goesin the draw for the prize.ReplyDelete
Well, who wouldn't have an amazing birthday staying in a castle like that Di? Yes please to the prize this week, and a belated happy birthday to you! Your sloth card is both adorable and hilarious!
